Instead of removing the music from the cloud or the iTunes library why not shuffle your music using a Smart Playlist which excludes the holiday music, or tracks that are not checked. For example, use this very simple Smart Playlist:

  • I had a guest account in the works, and now it seems to have vanished.

    Hey folks,
I've been settling into a new apartment, and one of the first things I did once I got my desk built was to fire up my shiny new Time Capsule and set it up. Now, I must admit I was rather enthusiastic--we didn't have internet yet, but I figured I could play around with it and get things going (Set up the accounts, etc.) and then simply plug in the internet once I had it. So I did, setting up both a primary network for me and my wife to back up our MacBooks to using Time Machine, as well as a guest network. This went just fine--I named the networks, gave them each a unique password, and while neither network connected to the internet, I could detect them both and sign on and off each one.
Finally, after much fighting with my ISP, I now have internet. Here, for future reference, is my current setup:
1: Internet comes out of the phone jack to the phone jack port on the wireless modem/router that arrived today.
2: Ethernet cord goes from wireless modem/router to Time Capsule.
I plugged in the Time Capsule, and lo and behold, I got internet on both networks, and could sign into both fine. Then, the trouble started. I had internet, but my computer could no longer detect my Time Capsule, seemingly leaving me without backup capability. Figuring that I had messed something up by setting it up too early, I used the Airport Utility window to reset the Time Capsule back to factory specs and get things going again.
Now, here's my dilemma. I've got internet (obviously), on my primary network (Even using the old name and password I gave it, though I had to re-enter that). I'm pretty sure I've got Time Machine functionality. What I don't have is a guest network. It was a breeze to set it up last time--it asked me if I wanted one, and I said yes, and Ta-Da--and now I can't figure out why I can't get one. It hasn't offered, nor can I find one as I dig around the Airport Utility window.
Help, of course, is greatly appreciated, but please assume I know next to nothing about what I'm doing. I'm not such a newbie at this, but at this point, I'm certainly feeling like one, so I won't mind if you spell things out too much.
    Thanks!

Aha...so that's part 1 solved. Many thanks, Bob! I am in Bridge mode (and knew that before--I should have mentioned, but didn't know it would have interfered with the guest network). Given my current setup, with the Time Capsule having to work through a modem that's also a wireless router, is there a way to either:
1: Shut down the routing function on my current modem (a 2Wire from AT&T) and let Time Capsule handle everything, hopefully getting rid of the need for the bridge?
2: Get the wireless router to produce a guest network for me, and thus let Time Capsule handle my private network for backing up stuff?
3: Do something else clever that gets me what I want? I never said I knew what I was doing here...
In other news, my first attempt at a Time Machine backup through Time Capsule ended in the delightfully-vague error message "Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while copying files to the backup volume." I've had a look at Time Machine, and it looks like it's still managed to back up a fair amount. Most of my documents that I skimmed through showed up, at least. Is there a quick and easy way to figure out what got backed up successfully and what didn't?
One step forward, two steps back, eh?

Currently, iMatch is turned off on my computer, as I do not want to upload any more songs. If I turn it on, will it upload all songs that are currently in my library? Is there another way that deleting them one by one?
You must enable iTunes Match on the new computer. The best way to accomplish what you want to do is to create a new, empty library by launching iTunes while holding down the Option key (Shift on Windows) and choosing "new library." Do not let iTunes scan for new content, but do enable iTunes Match on the empty library. Once the scan is finished you may delete tracks from the cloud. When you are done switch back to the main iTunes library.

  • How do I delete songs from Itunes without losing them in my IPOD?

How do I delete songs from Itunes without losing them in my IPOD? I don't want 11gb of music stored on my computer when I already have it in my Ipod. Anyone have some info?

You can Transfer music manually, then delete the files from the PC without having it sync to the iPod.
    HOWEVER.....
Deleting songs off of iTunes or your computer is a very bad idea unless you have created one or more backup files of all your songs.
Using the iPod as the sole repository of any of your songs is a very risky practice. When (not ‘if’) you need to restore the iPod, return the iPod for service, or it's song files are somehow lost or damaged, you will be re-ripping all your CDs back into iTunes and re-purchasing all your iTMS songs. Restoring the iPod is a common ‘fix’ to many small issues that arise.
If you cannot store your songs on a PC or within iTunes, then you will need to have some storage medium in use (an external hard drive, DVDs or CDs). You should also consider a secondary backup medium for additional safety. Whether you keep your music in iTunes or on an external source – Multiple copies of your music files are a must!
The iPod is really designed to be playback device - not a primary storage device (although it can be used as such), and certainly not as the only storage medium for all your music.
Always backup your PC files: both music and data. Backup as frequently as possible. The usual ‘metric’ is to determine just how much work (hours, days, weeks) or money spent you are willing to repeat by extending out your time between backups. Your choice, your potential headache &/or loss.
Many data-savvy folks have more than one backup and create incremental backups every time they add to or change their Library. Depending on the work I am doing, I may perform several backups during the same day. As they are incremental, and placed on my Backup ExHD – it is a very quick operation to perform several times a day, when needed.
If you are heavily invested in your Library data (Playlists, Play Counts, Ratings, Last Played, Date Added, etc.), then:
it is critical that you also make multiple backups of your ‘iTunes Library.itl’ file.
iTMS REMINDER: While you can always take the time to re-rip the CDs you own to restore your iTunes music, if you lose your iTMS purchased music and have no backups, you will have to re-purchase them. Few exceptions are made to this rule – at least none that I am aware of.

How do I delete apps from itunes so they never download again?

If you have the left-hand sidebar showing click Apps under Library, if you don't have the left-hand sidebar showing then click Done at the top right of the screen to go back to your library and then select Apps via the selection button top left.
You will now be able to permanently delete apps from itunes - Select app - right click - delete - send to recycle bin

  • How Can I Delete Albums From iTunes Without It Deleting Them From My iPod

    Please help!!!!
How Can I Delete Albums From iTunes Without It Deleting Them From My iPod classic 160GB?

    Hi, welcome to Apple Discussions.
I assume you've already consisdered manually managing your iPod's contents and rejected that idea.
I wouldn't recommend it as a solution, but if you delete the files for the albums leaving the entries in the iTunes library you can carry on syncing normally. iTunes will complain that it can't sync the missing files but it won't remove the copies from your iPod. Once you're happy with how things work you can can choose to suppress the error message.
While handy as a temporary workaround if space is an issue then it's probably time to look at moving your whole library to a bigger drive.

  • Deleting Songs From iTunes Library...and Keeping Them On Your iPod

Will this process allow me to delete songs from my iTunes library, but keep them on my iPod?
    1. When iPod is plugged in, check "Only Sync Checked Items" in iTunes
    2. Delete items from iTunes library.
    3. Add new items to iTunes library.
    4. Sync iPod.
It should keep the songs I deleted from iTunes on my iPod, right?
If you need me to be any clearer, please ask.
EDIT: If this will not work, is there another way to do this? The songs I have are taking up a lot of room on my computer.

Any auto sync method you use will delete the songs from the iPod if you delete them from iTunes.
You can delete songs from your iTunes/computer hard drive after transferring them to the iPod, and for this you need to set your iPod to manage the songs manually.
However, this is an extremely risky option because when (and not if) there comes a time to restore your iPod, which is a very common fix for iPod problems, then all the music would be erased. If you no longer have the music in iTunes (or any other back up), then all that music would be lost.

Can you tell me or do you know how I can delete albums from iTunes match please

    I've got a similar problem.
I know the way how to delete but it didn't work.
When I delete a song with setting the "delete this song from iCloud" option, it seems to be deleted but after syncing it still exist!
    For example:
Before deleting I've got 761 songs in Match
I delete 10 songs with "Also delete this song from iCloud", empty the trash can and start match sync
After 2 Minutes iTunes Match told me, there are 761 songs available - nothing will be deleted at iTunes Match

Camera roll is the master list of all photos in the app.  When you place a photo in an album, it's still in the camera roll.
