How do I delete old photos and video from my iPhone 5s ? The trash can is gray and I am unable to delete.
Some of my older photos and video are taking up too much space and I don't want to keep them anymore.
You don't need to look through iTunes. On the device, are these photos/video located in the camera roll? If not, then they are synced from the computer. Connect the iPhone to the computer and iTunes. Go to the Photo tab and look to see what you have checked. You should see something checked there. Just uncheck what is marked and sync again.

My photos are syncing from my iPhone to the iCloud PhotoStream and to our iPad, but they are no longer syncing to our home computer (Microsoft operating system, not Apple). Why would this happen and how can I get it resolved? I have since tried to remove and reinstall the iCloud application in my computer's control panel. I was also having an issue with my calendar where it would sync from my computer to my iPhone but not vice versa. Somehow in all the resetting that's resolved, but the photo issue is not. To change the iCloud ID on your device you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password to turn off Find My iPhone when prompted, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.

How do I get iphoto to import videos from my iphone 3s? It only imports photos, not videos. My iPhoto is v. 4.0.3.

Is your QuickTime up to date?
Video importing requires QuickTime 7.6.2 or later.

When I save photos or videos from my iPhone 4S to my PC they are all sideways. Is there a way to prevent this from happening? All are taken with the phone in portrait mode.
Shot videos ONLY in landscape. For photos choose what's you like. Maybe you have to rotate photos on PC. What's your operating system?

I did not read what they were asking correctly, which was to "set up as a new iphone": or "restore backup." i choose restore backup, and now it looks like my iphone 3g. If you haven't synced again since this happened you may still be able to restore from the backup that was created at the start of the sync process. First, without connecting your phone to your computer, open iTunes and go to Preferences, on the Devices tab look at the list of backups and identify if your backup prior to this happening still exists. You can hover your mouse over the name of the backup to reveal the IMEI, phone number and serial number of the phone that was backed up, allowing you to identify which one is your 4S backup. If the backup exists, do the following:
Without connecting your phone to your computer, open iTunes and go to Preferences, on the Devices tab check "Prevent...from syncing automatically"
Now connect your phone to your computer. When it appears in iTunes on the left sidebar right-click on its name and choose Restore from Backup, selecting the backup you identified earlier to restore from.
When the restore completes you can go back to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and re-enable automatic syncing if you prefer this.
This won't restore everything as certain data such as contacts and all iTunes media isn't included in the backup but at least you'll be able to get much of it back. -
Cant locate photos/video from other iphones on the cloud
I have backed up iphone 5s , and a iphone 4 . I broke the i5 and now using my i4 but when i try to retrieve photos/videos from the I5,orI4 I do not see files for photos? I have all other files photos icon is missing?
This is very helpful. It seems my IPhoto is too old and can't get on the ICloud for photos yet. I will try the upgrade.

Windows 7 wont recognize photos or videos from my iphone 5's.

I pluged both my iPhone 5's into my computer running Win7. Upon being prompted to import pictures it will read "No new photos or videos found".
Not even Adobe Bridge will recognize that the phone has importable files.

I connected a couple of home video clips from my iPhone in iMovie and then uploaded it to YouTube so that I could share the link with family. When the upload is complete, the video says that it is no in iPhone format and cannot be viewed? Whats up with that crap? Is there something I can do about it?
You tube converts the video to multiple formats when you upload.
Sometimes it takes a while for the video to be viewable.
And sometimes you tube converts to other formats before it makes ios versions.
Just wait a few hours and try again.
It will become viewable in time.
If it does not then you would be better to contact google.
You tube is theirs, and issues need to be told to them. -
I need help with a problem! Last year I bought a new camcorder and my first iMac (OSX). My first movie was in New York City, so it's very special to me.
When I got home, I made a short New York City movie in iMovies but somehow I have deleted it all in iMovies. When I look in iPhotos, all the individual clips are there as short little movies (there are about 80 of them, all lasting a few seconds). Is there any way I can move those individual clips back into iMovie and have it back to where I started so that I can replace what I lost and I also to do some additional editing. To burn a DVD with iDVD from the latest version of iMovie, you have to export the movie using the Export button and select 480p as the size. Open iDVD and start a new project, then drag that exported movie file into the iDVD menu window, avoiding any drop zones you see. -

No. If you delete them from your phone, they will also be deleted from iCloud. You can't really use iCloud to free up space on your phone because anything you put in iCloud will also be on your phone (except your backup). If you want to be able to access your photos on the web without storing them on your phone, upload them to a service that is designed for that (Flikr, Smugmug, etc.).

Best that you can hope for is that is was present the last time you did a synch/backup. You can then restore your phone from your last backup. -
Photos in my from my iPhone have the same numbering as photos from my digital camera. They all go into iPhoto fine but when I backup to my ext hard drive it will only save one with the name IMG 1002 and I have two separate images both with that name. How do I get them all to save on my ext hard drive and hope do I prevent this numbering overlap in the future? I'm really hoping I don't have to go through and manually rename every single picture. How are you backing up the photos? The best way is to backup the library itself as that will preserve your organizational efforts as well as all metadata like keywords, titles, faces, places, books, etc.
You can use a backup application that does incremental backups. Thus only the first backup is a full one and subsequent backups just copy those files that are new or changed. I use Synk Pro. The lower cost version, Synk, will do the same job. Other similar apps can be found at MacUpdate.com.
OR: upload your camera to a folder on the Desktop. There you can rename the files to something that is more informative than just the file name. I use the date (international format) along with a brief desc: 2007-1-20-adian1stbday-001.jpg. File renaming apps can also be found at MacUpdate.com. Also you can give the folder an informatve name which will become the Event name when you import the folder of photos into iPhoto.
