How do I disable Firefox anti-phishing?

Firefox is preventing my Norton anti-phishing definitions from updating.

Those two anti-phishing protections should be completely independent and not interfere with each other.

How to install bitdefender's anti-phishing toolbar in firefox?

Do you still have a BitDefender directory in program folders, usual location is C:\Program Files\BitDefender\
If the directory still exists, the uninstall did not complete fully. BitDefender recommend downloading the uninstaller and running it again. You can get the uninstaller from http://www.bitdefender.com/uninstall
If that does not work, you can try manually removing the toolbar. Do you have a folder called C:\Program Files\BitDefender\BitDefender 2009\FFToolbar
The "BitDefender 2009" part will vary depending on the version of BitDefender installed. If that still exists try deleting the contents of the FFToolbar folder.
BitDefender is likely to have added an entry to the Windows Registry, if you are happy with editing the registry you can remove the entry, for details see the "Windows registry extension" section of http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_add-ons

How do you disable your anti virus to update to 5.1? And is it on your computer or iPad?

The iPad doesn't have antivirus, so it won't be on there. If you are downloading the update via your computer's iTunes then how you disable you antivirus and firewall software will depend upon what the software is - Kaspersky, Norton, McAfee, ... ? If you know whose it is then somebody on here might have the same software and be able to tell you.

  • How can I disable Firefox from automatically opening on system startup on my Mac - unchecking the "open at login" does not work?

We have Firefox 10.o on our Macbook Pro OS X 10.5.8. I prefer using Firefox as my browser but my husband prefers Safari for now because of a long history of bookmarks and saved information he doesn't have time to re-do. He is tired of Firefox automatically opening when we start up the laptop, and even when we uncheck the "open at login" it still opens at login every time. He is about to uninstall it because of this. How can we disable? It does NOT show up in our account on the Mac OS as an application that starts at login, so we can't disable it there.

For those of you running Windows, I found this on another site. (Unfortunately, not before getting totally disgusted and switching to chrome.)
    1. click start (or the windows flag button at the bottom left) 2. in the "search programs and files" or the RUN dialog box, enter "msconfig.exe" or "msconfig". 3. That should open the system configuration program. 4. click the "Startup" tab at the top of the opened program. 5. Under the "startup item" column, look for Mozilla firefox. 6. uncheck that one. 7. Click OK or apply. 8. click "exit without restart". 9. you're good to go.

  • How to completely disable Firefox warning "....certificate... not trusted... no issuer chain... provided." .mil .gov .va sites.

I have 100s of bookmarks that work fine on other browsers. Most are .mil, .gov., & va websites. All of which say, "The certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided." in Firefox. I want to completely bypass certificate warnings without having to make exceptions for every site. I understand the risks. I prefer them, over these warning. Viruses, malware, phishing, etc, I can deal with. I just want FREEDOM from these certificate blockades, FREEDOM to choose my own security. I will choose security that is less obtrusive / problematic than the attacks they mean to prevent. Even Microsoft allows you to turn off user account controls. My computer IS already secure, & what I input IS secure. Now act like open source and allow me to choose FREEDOM from these certificate blockades.

Thanks, but is that really the best Firefox users get. Constantly having to manually fix the browser to accept certificates. Firefox's security is fine for those who like to rely on it, but for those who dislike being FORCED to rely on it, there should be some means to bypass it, without having to ask for some link like this every time. I said the majority were .mil links, but I still run into this elsewhere. What is THE solution for those of us who rather dislike being forced to rely on this primitive, dysfunctional, oppressive, big-brother - overprotective - ware? Don't misunderstand me, I get what SSL is and the purpose of certificates. But I also know when I'm entering a known and trusted site vs. some random site found somewhere on the web. I use multiple Firefox profiles. I'd like to disable this stuff on my profiles which I use for official business where I only go on known & trusted sites. Plain and simple, I'd like to stop getting this error in particular. Is it not possible to use Firefox to my liking, for my needs.

  • How can I disable firefox on macbook pro

I want to disable fireox or uninstall it. How do I accomplish one of these tasks?

I don't think it's Firefox that's the issue, rather your Library file that contains the instructions which browser is your preferred one to launch.
No browser should erupt in the middle of PhotoShop, InDesign or Word unless there is some sort of background upgrade process or a link you clicked in those programs that reqiure the browser (any browser) to launch.
If it does, then it's just going to bring Safari into your face just like Firefox.
I think you need to look into the possibility something is further wrong with your machine, I suspect perhaps you may have accidentially installed a adware trojan and/or perhaps one of your preference (.plist) files in your Library (hidden) is corrupted.

Firefox works extremely well and very user friendly, it's quite frankly the best browser, the most customizable, the most add-ons and themes and is the fastest one if you know how to tweak it.
