How do I download a non Mac Application?

I am new to Macs and have looked in my systems preferences and security but cannot find anything that says I can download a non Mac application / programme.
Can anyone help. Where do I find this setting. Right now all I can dowload is Mac stuff

OS X Mountain Lion has got Gatekeeper, that is set up to allow only Mac App Store apps and apps from identified developers. To change this, open System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General, and choose "Never" under "Allow applications downloaded from"

Try ( alt + cmd + esc ). Gives you a menu of running applications, and a chance to "Force Quit".

You have four options that I know of.
1) Use an external DVD drive that will work on the MBA. (Apple's external Superdrive for MBA)
2) Use a remote disk connection, using another Mac with a DVD drive, and sharing the drive with the MBA.
3) Download Office from Microsoft's website, and then use only the registration code that came with your DVD purchase to authorize the registration.
4) Copy the contents of the Office DVD to a USB flash drive, using another computer. Then install from that flash drive.
Maybe someone else has an idea, if none of the above will woek for you.

Non-Mac Application Won't Open

I'm having trouble getting a non-Mac application to start on my Intel Imac. The application is the Sonos (whole house music system) desktop controller. It begins to open up, then quickly shuts down. I reinstalled the software, but the problem persists. Any thoughts?

If it's an iOS device you can sync via iTunes.
Other devices: Export from iPhoto to the FInder and send them from there.

Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions

After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Make a backup of your current system.

I bought a TV Episode Season Pass on my Apple TV 2. I can watch it on it without any problems.
Now I want to download the episodes to my Mac, but I can't seem to find where to do that! I can just see a "buy" button for the episodes on iTunes Store. I thought it worked just like the App Store, where clicking again tells you have already bought it and will download it again, but unfortunately it charged me again for the episode.
So, how can I download a TV episode I have already bought on the Apple TV 2?

I lost all my calendars from my computer and am desperate to get them back. They were published online on my .mac account. How do I download them from there back in to my iCal? And how do I prevent the online calendar from being overwritten by the empty calendar on my computer?

Here's the way that I would get your calendars back from MobileMe:
1. Open the MobileMe System Preference pane
2. Select the Sync tab
3. Click the Advanced button (bottom right)
4. Click Reset Sync Data button
5. Select Calendars from the Replace dropdown
6. Click the left pointing arrow, ensuring that the text above reads: "On this computer with sync info from MobileMe
7. Click Replace button.
Once the sync has finished, you should have your calendars back on the mac.

How to translate/convert read non-mac files

I can't open my bank statement which I download from the internet. It's in 'Money' format.
But since I can 'translate' .xls when working in Appleworks why can't I get a downloaded equivalent version?
What's the best way to convert non-mac files that can't be concerted by maclinkplus (which is installed in my iBook)?

That's something to take up with your bank. Most bank & some credit card company web sites give you the option of what format you can download your account information in. Unfortunately, most don't give an option of tab-delimited text, just CSV (comma-delimited), & AppleWorks can't open CSV natively. You can, though, open the file in a work processing document & use Find/Replace to Find the comma delimiters, usually "," including the quotes & replace with \t, the "code" for tab. You will need to manually remove the beginning & ending quotes. Then select all & paste into a spreadsheet.
Or you can do what I do for several of mine. I access my account info using Camino or Firefox, not Safari, & select > copy > paste into my spreadsheet. I use Camino or Firefox because the tabs between fields are usually copies as such. Safari doesn't "understand" these tabs & will paste as a lot of spaces & returns.
