How do I export photos from iPhoto to Picasa web albums?

I have my photos stored on iPhoto, but can no longer export them to my Picasa (Google+) web albums.
Apple have removed the upload option to Picasa from within iPhoto, and Google's uploader software most online forums talk about is no longer available, so I'm stuck!
Many thanks!

You can export from iPhoto to the FInder and upload from there.

BTW: Apple removed nothing. They updated their application to 64 bit and Google haven't bothered to update their plug-in in years. Why they haven't is something you'll need to ask them.

Not using the correct structure. Camera's use a very exact structure and the only way the camera will see photos on the card is for them to be in that exact structure

  • How Can I Email Photos from iPhoto using Yahoo Web Mail?

Is there anyway to hook the email functionality in iPhoto up to a web based email account?
On my old PC Yahoo had a little helper application that would intercept calls to the email program and redirected them to Yahoo. Yahoo does not seem to have a similar helper app for mac.
Can anyone think of a way to connect iPhoto's email button up to Yahoo or other web based mail?
    Thanks!

There is one for GMail, but none for Yahoo, AFAIK.
As you're using 10.5, If you use the extended Open or Attach dialogue (with Column View) you can scroll to the bottom of the Shortcuts and find the Media browser there. Select any pic you want from there.

  • How can I export photos from my iPad or iPod to my main computer or hard drive. My old computer died and I want to get my photos onto my new computer. Thanks in advance.

HOw can I export photos from my iPad or iPod to my main computer? My old computer died with my photos on it but I want to move my photo library from my iPad or iPod to the computer I just bought. Thanks for any help you can give.

Sorry but your iPhoto library is not on an iPad or iPod - you may have photos there (most likely low resolution copies) but not an iPhoto library - dying computers (along with software and human errors) are why you always must have a backup - now is the time to load it

  • HT1535 how do i transfer photos from iphoto on my imac to my new ipad

I have read and reread the ipad manual and under importing photos and videos -  this is all it says,
"To transfer the photos to your computer, connect iPad to your computer and import the images with a photo application such as iPhoto or Adobe Elements."
There are no explicite instructions on how to get the photos from iPhoto onto my iPad.  There is nothing in iPhoto either.

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

Or if you want to, you can keep the images in iPhoto and move the Library to an external:
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

It is better to export (file menu ==> export) since when you export you control exactly what you get - see the user tip on exporting for details
When you drag and drop you get the current preview with limited Metadata

how do I export pictures from iphoto to a sd card?

Exporting from iPhoto to the SD card is preferable. Dragging to the card will only write the lower quality  preview files and not the high resolution originals.
Export to a folder on the Desktop and then drag the folder to the card. If the file system on the SD Card is not MacOS Extended (Joournaled), you'll avoid a problem with the limit of files, that can be stored on the top level of the card by collecting all files in a folder.
Actually I found the opposite was true.
As you can see in the following picture, the dragged photo, which is the one named IMG_2268.JPG  retained more metadata and had a larger file size than the one I exported which was reduced in file size, and lost a bit of the meta data in the export.   Including the creation date, and the latitude and longitude.
I think Dragging is the better option.
