How do I export Premier Pro CS6 files for use with Final Cut Pro?

In my cloud version of CS-6, I am trying to export or convert my finished work and take to my
co-editor that uses Final Cut Pro. In "export" on my PrP file, I have the option to export as FCP "with notes."
When I do that, and look at the notes, they basically say "Clip one did not export - Clip two did not..."
I saw a tutorial on the web where they had the option to convert the file in Encoder from PrP file to FCP, but
it is not an option on my Encoder in the cloud. When I try to encode the files as .mov, they are tiny, and don't
look good.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

You can take the project file and the source files to FCP by exporting it as an FCP XML. Other than that you may have to export the whole project as a quicktime mov or any other editable your co-editors use.

Did you open Automator and just look around?
Actions are listed in the left pane.
You drag them into the workflow on the right in the order you need to process the items that you want.
If this is a on-off requirement, just make a Workflow. If you plan to use it often, make it an Application.
If you want to select the contacts you want to export, use a get Selected action. You'd then select the contacts in Contacts App before running the workflow.
I'm not on a Mac to take screenshots, so you'll have to look at Automator's help or google for more info.

How do I import or use an AVI file with Final Cut Express?
Thank you. Do I need to convert my AVI file and what is the

You should convert the media to QuickTime. Without knowing any specifics most likely the simplest way is to use MPEG Streamclip.

What is the best file converter for Panasonic HC-X900M Camcorder Mts  files for use with Final Cut Pro?

This camcorder records in several ways, including AVCHD2, mpeg4 iframe, and 3d, at least that seems to be the case from a quick reading of its specs.
If you get the latest update for fcpx, it will handle video shot in 60P. That is 10.0.4
Here is what Apple says it supports, and one version of the 900 seems to be supported.
I think the Apple site is a little behind its own software update, as one advantage of the new update is that it handles 60P.
Maybe I am missing something, but I wonder what would happen if you get the latest update for fcpx, and try your card again. I did find that fcpx now supports my sony dslr at 60P.
Here is a thread with one person saying they can now use their 900.

In addition to what Jerry and David said, if you have Final Cut Pro HD (4.5), you'll need to crossgrade to get the full benefits of your macbook pro.

  • Streamclip - exporting for use in Final Cut Pro

Hi, I've just downloaded Streamclip and have several DVDs (made with a dv video camera, fcp and DVD studio pro) about ten minutes long each, that I want to re-edit in Final Cut Pro into one whole movie.
What is the best/correct way to do this? I tried demuxing to M2V and AIFF but the video was faulty (it was stilted in horizontal lines), should I be demuxing to Unscaled M2V and AIFF, or something else completely?

Thanks, but when I look at the sequence settings (by right clicking the sequence and going to settings - I assume that's right, but there's always a way to do it wrong!) I can't find anything that matches the demux options. What should I be looking to match up?

  • What's the best external drive to use with Final Cut Pro?

I'm looking for a drive to mainly back up my final cut pro work, possibly do a little editing on, what's best? I have a G5 desktop.

    Congratulations on your graduation.
On the hope that during your college career you learned how to do original research, you could show some clear initiative and read through those threads my link will reveal. From the drives discussed you might find common elements (praise or conndemnation) that show up after reading dozens of threads. Of the ones that get consistently good reviews by serious users, you can then go the website of the manufacturer and figure out if they fit your budget.
All this can be done in the time of you waiting around for a few people to chip into this thread.
    Good luck.

  • Convert MTS files for use in Final Cut Express

Having just bought a Canon Legria HF R16 (which in America would be the Vixia) I was struggling the past hours to get my video files from the camera to my mac. Canon doesn't provide much help in this. But I finally got the files in iMovie. Is there a site somewhere where I can find more information about organizing those videos and how best to transfer them from camera with this setup?
So far the procedure seems to be: import in iMovie then import the mov files into Final Cut Express. But maybe there is a more efficient way.
    Thanks.

Yes, it's an AVCHD camcorder. Just tried the log & transfer and it imported in Final Cut Express alright. I checked the info about the imported video clips and it looks fine too, at least it says that it's Apple Intermediate Codec. So that would allow me to import my stuff into FCE directly without converting anything. Touch wood.
I am right now trying everything out on my camera, got it today. The size is 1440x1080 if I saw correctly in FCE. Have to check on that om my camcorder. Yes, I had it on SP (standard), changed that to FXP (full size).
I guess I'll manage from here on. Thanks, Martin.
The first moments can be so confusing.
So I guess there is no need to convert the movies in iMovie first, unless I wanted to use iMovie for editing.
I'm still studying the FCE manual as well.

  • Best speed External Hard Drive to use with Final Cut Pro X ?

    Hey all
I'm looking at getting a new USB 2.0 external hard drive to use with FCPX, I was wondering what everyones thoughts were on minimum speeds and what everyone else uses.
I am looking at least 1-2TB.

I will warn you now that I am somewhat of a lone voice on these forums for recommending USB 2.0s.
I have used the 7,200rpm types with their own mains supply over the last 6 years (and exclusively for the last 3) and had no problems of any kind.
Having said that I am not a pro with tight schedules (or underwear!) but I have used DV, HDV, AVCHD with and without ProRes and AIC.
Most of my projects are short though I have done a number of 2 hour projects with comparatively simple editing and a few effects etc. One ongoing project has some 12 hours of DV which I dip into  occasionally.
I have a couple of LaCie FW HDs which I stopped using a couple of years ago in favour of the much cheaper USB 2.0s and didn't notice any difference, though as I said I don't have pro time constraints.
Now is not the best time to buy HDs cheaply as the autumn floods in Asia knocked out many of the main suppliers, prices doubled overnight and have still not got back to last summers figures (2TB WD Essential £69 with free delivery).
    Look at the price now!

  • What is the easiest way to convert .MTS files for use in Final Cut Express

I initially downloaded my Sony Alpha7 files into iMovie. As the production requires a little more professional software I then tried to import files into Final Cut Express. As these are now .MTS files what is the easiest way of converting them?

    Hey Martin et al,
    Related question...
After you convert files from M2TS or MP4 into something usable in FCE can you trash the original M2ts/mp4 files ?
I recently used Mpeg Streamclip to convert Mp4 into AIC for FCE for example..
Is there a general rule of when you have to save original files so everything works in FCE?
I'm running out of HD space.
    Thanks a lot,
    Al

  • Where do I install Avid Meridien codecs for use in Final Cut Pro X on Lion?

I'm using FCPX and imported a couple of files that were output with the Avid Meridien codec. When I try to use the files in FCPX, I can hear the audio, but I get no video. How do I get FCPX to see the codecs?

Yes, the files play in QT player with video. Can you provide a few more details on Compressor such as where to find and how to implement?
    Thanks

  • Best colour red for use in Final Cut Pro 7?

I need to use a vivid red font for a project in FCP7. The text has to be bright red to match the style of the video so unfortunately I'm a bit stuck. Whenever the video is exported because the red colour is so vivid it becomes really pixellated. Here's an example at the ideal colour red (view at full res):
I know that the red is currently outside of the acceptable limits of colour for broadcast so I wondered what is the best settings for a good colour red? Currently it's a case of trial and error and I have found that so far the best looking red is achieved by changing the Title 3D "Style color" settings to R: 190 G: 41 B: 41 (as below).
This produces the following red font, when exported:
While it's not perfect, it's getting there.
So my question is what do you personally find are the best colour settings for a vivid red font?

Flat bright red + video  = bad.
Here's a load of discussion on why it happens: Pixel Rise Time
    >So my question is what do you personally find are the best colour settings for a vivid red font?
Try and talk the client out of it.
If the bright red is a corporate ID color that works well in print and absolutely must be properly represented, you have to make it clear that video is a completely different animal. They have to compromise by desaturating or live with the fact that it is going to look terrible on a lot of TV sets. You might be able to pull it off by adding a very thin white edge to the text.
