How do I fade in?

How do I cut the beginning of a track or fade in?

Use the "Volume" automation curve for the track. What is your GarageBand version?
In GarageBand '11 it would look like this:

  • How can I fade in/out audio only below a certain frequency?

I have an MP3 made from a MIDI file in which all instruments are unfortunately in a single track. I want to fade the tom part in because I thought it would be easy considering its obvious separation from the marimba part in the Spectral Pitch Display. How can I fade in these lower sounds only without affecting the higher marimba sound?

You need to go back to the MIDI file and adjust the level there - you can't do this after the event unless you use something like the incredibly expensive Melodyne. This can achieve harmonically related event isolation, which Audition doesn't do. Toms don't just exist at one frequency; they have a harmonic spectrum and if you don't capture all of the harmonics, you won't be able to alter the relative level of all of them - which is what you'd need to do. Otherwise it will sound completely wrong.

HOW DO I FADE OUT AUDIO IN PREMIERE ELEMENTS 13?

    Thanks for answering,
im moving slowely forward in speeding up making presentations by using the new discovered smart tricks or functions.
So you understand my level of expertise:
This step by step production methode im using now give's me controle without the (full) knowledge of all the (smart)functions in this program.and slowely learning the way arround.
starting a project:  a mix of photo's and avi's, starting with manual time line filling with the selected files then the timesaving "Standard crosover on all selected".
second: placing a header with the titel at the front and a ending a the end. (cut al the wrong or bad pieces and extend some photo viewingtime if needed.)
And then adding subtitels/tekst and use some other crosovers to highlight the change of subject or stills to movie.
And at last: placing the background music on "soundtrack": after some fiddeling around ive choose to cut the musictrack between the avi's instead of let the music play all the time and adjust the volume down to zero when a avi is playing.
    this have two advantages:
    1)  the songs can be streched by  by cut and jumping to the end of the avi soundtrack. (no loss of music through fading out and still let it play so need less musicsongs.)
    2) And the rightclick fade function with the standaard fadingtime => "fade out" and "fade in" is easly to use because of the end track avi and begin track music timeline. (And if needed lowering the fading slope/ extend the fading time by moving the "points" on the audio line)
But; its a lot of work and after the first run through the presentation(or watching on TV) and there is a adjustment needed (fadingtime, volume-changes) you have to adjust every bit of the soundtrack. (keeping the volume "feeling" the same is the  difficult part.)
I will read about the Smart Mix function and test  it on a other project. see of its fits my kind of using and expertise. (every automatic (smart) function needs understanding of its purpes and limitations and there are a lot of them in premiere
What is in your opinion the most effective way of adjusting volume of audio parts across the hole project so its merged in to one audio/soundlevel?
(and offcourse in the hole way of building the presentation.)

  • How do I fade one frame into another?

In Flash pro 4 how do I fade out of one keyframe and fade into the next one with a slow transition? thanks.

Try this set alpha to 0. Move ahead 20 frames or how fast or slow you want it.Change the alpha to 100%.Then create  motion tween in the button symbol and place the movie clip in the over state.
Then it should fade as the movie plays. You can implement it the way you want it.

What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
In the absence of that information, I will generalize, tending toward Premiere Elements 11....
    a. Right click the Expert workspace Timeline video, select Fade from the pop up menu and then the wanted Fade Audio or Video command.
    b. In version 11, you could click on Applied Effects/Applied Effects Palette/Opacity Panel and the shortcut Fades there.
    c. You could keyframe the Opacity property in the Applied Effects Palette/Opacity or via the video track content rubberband at the Timeline Level.
Please supply more information for fading in out your video and audio track contents.
    Thanks.

In Edge Animate, how do I fade an image in on mouseover?
    Thanks!

You can either make a symbol and use a transition in Animate and use play() and playReverse() on mouseenter and mouseleave or you could use  animate() on the element for our mouse events.
    fadeout
    sym.$("elementName").animate({"opacity":0.00},3000);
    fadein
    sym.$("elementName").animate({"opacity":1.00},3000);

  • How to apply FADE to audio track

Just moved to use Logic Pro 8 that I have the following queries:-
    1. How to apply FADE/CROSSFADE on audio tracks at the Arrange window?
    2. I found keeping to click the Pointer tool & Scissor tool (or Eraser) alternately (the purpose is just delete a part of an audio track) at the Arrange window during audio editing very clumsy, is there any shortcut?
    3. I use a MOTU 2408 audio interface, is there anyway I could set the Logic to having:- A. just one mono output instead of stereo pair ( likes 12, 34, 56, or 78) for a track? B. input of a stereo track set to using S/PDIF as my 2408 have this and I sometimes dump things into the computer from a DAT player?
    Thank you for your advise.

    NNS wrote:

You can use the fade tool, or for multiple regions, simply select the regions (you can rubberband them), and use the fade tool box in the upper left hand corner of the arrange page.

Look over the extensive list of key commands that are available within Logic. You can also assign alternate tools to left/right mouse buttons, or by modifier keys, so you can switch tools quickly, without the need for accessing the toolbox.

For mono output assignments, simply pan the mono track to the desired side of the output. i.e., track one, set to "Output 1-2", panned hard LEFT, will only appear on your audio interfaces output 1. Panned hard RIGHT, it'll appear only on output 2...

All audio interfaces with SPDIF inputs have those inputs hardwired. So it's just a matter of you reading the MOTU manual, and seeing what that is. It may be inputs 11-12, or 23-24, etc... Just set the stereo track in Logic to have that particular input, and you should be set.

  • How do I fade audio in ?

I have premiere 10 and would like to know how do I fade in an audio track while fading the first track out without any gaps. As when I try to merge the two pieces of audio it splits the video .

OK, it sounds like you do have muxed Audio & Video (both streams in one Clip).
To temporarily separate the Audio from the Video, Atl+click on the Audio. Then, you can drag it, independently from the Video. Now, unless the Audio is just music, or background, I am not sure that you will want to move it, left, or right, from its Video, as you will then loose sync.
Also, if you need to move a Clip, without that edit affecting other Clips, you can hold down the Ctrl key, to get into Insert Edit mode.
As you are starting out with PrE, Steve Grisetti's Basic Training Series might be a good place to start. He covers Audio in there, though might not touch on exactly what you are needing. However, as he gives an important overview of editing with PrE, he might solve some problems.
    Good luck,

  • Help, learning this program! How do I Fade IN/OUT??

I have a guitar rhythem on a track that is looped multiple times in a row.
When I open it in the Editor to Fade out, it Fades out every individual loop. I just want the end of the entire loop sequence Faded out.
How do I fade in or out?

Beside the track name (eg. "Track 1"), on the left side there is a small triangle, if you click it, you will be given a "Volume" and "and Pan" editor, double clicking on the black line will create points, you can adjust these points to adjust you volume, the the volume between the two points will gradually change.
Make a point where you want your fade out to start, then a point where you want the fade to end, by dragging the end point down with the mouse or, the volume slider you will achieve the fade out effect you are looking for.
    Does this help?

  • How can I fade in menus with background video?

    Hi there,
I'm new to this forum (and to DVD SP) and have searched without being able to find out how to get my menus to work in this scenario:
I have a short (6s) background video that does not loop and ends on a still frame.
There are two drop zones, both with semi-transparent areas so that I can see the video play underneath. One drop zone has my title (as text in DVD SP) and the other has my "play" button.
I want my video to play for 5s and then have all the other elements fade in over the last second.
Here's what I've tried (thanks to suggestions from here and dvdstudiopro.digitalmedianet.com--which uses js that really bogs down Firefox, BTW):
    A. I created a custom patch using PS that's a 6s .mov file that's simply a black mask that fades to white.-->this causes my drop zones (which are layered psd files with a mask of their own) to fade up, BUT the custom patch overrides the drop zone mask and causes the drop zone to become completely opaque.
    B. I tried separating the background video and menus into separate menus in DVD SP. The first menu plays the video, then jump to the second menu which contains the last frame of the video as a still with the drop zones and button on top.-->this works but there is a noticable delay going from menu 1 to menu 2 and it looks horrible.
    C. I created a 6s .mov file in FCP that does exactly what I want, but when I bring it into DVD SP, the quality suffers.-->I exported without compression from FCP and with, same bad results (especially in text).
Is there a way for me to get this to work gracefully?
I put a still of my menu with callouts at this url if it helps:
    http://infactfilms.com/dvdmenu/
Thanks very much and I appreciate the wealth of info in this forum.
    Cheers!
    misho

    Hi
Read this note about Menu rendering in DVDSP:
If you edit all your elements in FCP, adding the graphic fade in/outs, texts, etc and then export it directly with Compressor to MPEG2, and use that file/s as Menu backgrounds, DVDSP will not re-encode these menus.
If you add in DVDSP text, graphic for buttons, drop zones, etc it will need to render and encode the background again to add those graphics.
Take care of what video format you choose in FCP for your background edit. DV codec works really bad with graphic elements; you better choose DVCPRO50 sequence settings and export directly from FCP through Compressor. That way FCP will use the raw info from each frame and not the render files as if you export as Quicktime Movie.
    Hope that helps !

  • How can I fade the first slide in a slideshow in from black?

Novice user here, but I can't seem to find an answer to this question. I've created a couple of slideshow, and have imported them to iDVD to burn the DVDs. When I play the show in iPhoto, they're fine. But when I play a finished DVD (or the demo of the DVD in iDVD), the first slide does not fade in like iPhoto did. It's a really jarring start. I fiddled with Ken Burns effects, but all that seems to do it effect how the slide ends, not how it starts.
How can I start the DVD slide show at black and fade the first slide in, just like iPhoto automatically did?
BTW ... haven't upgrade to the new iLife software yet if that helps.

    Hi DogWonder!
if it were me, I think the simplest thing to do is take a photo with the lens cover on the camera, basically a black pic. Now use this one at the beginning of your DVD/Slide Show... or even between slides for a little more drama, if you wanted...
    Good luck, Rick
