These are not Acrobat. You need to download and install Acrobat in order to use it.

I am not sure I understand your question but I think you are looking for this.
1. Right click on the PDF file.
2. Click on "Open With". You will see Adobe Acrobat in the list.
3. Click on it.
Alternatively,
1a. On Windows, open the Start Menu (bottom left of the screen).
1b. On Mac, open the Spotlight (top right of the screen).
2. Type Acrobat. You will see Adobe Acrobat in the list.
3. Click on it. Acrobat will open.
4. Goto File -> Open. Locate the file and click Open.
If Acrobat is not displayed anywhere, it means that the software is not installed on your machine.
To verify:
1a. On Windows, open Control Panel, then open Programs and Features.
1b. On Mac, open a Finder Window, then click Applications on the left.
2. Look for Adobe Acrobat in the list.
If Acrobat is not present, download and install from the website http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html or using Adobe Download Assistant.

    Hi,

  • How do I find file names containing special character

    hi all
I need your help with a code that deals with finding file names containing special characters like * / \ : ? " |
the reason is I am doing a project that transfer files and folders from Mac to Windows. But names containing above characters cant be moved to windows.
the part of the code I write is like this
set illegal_syntax to paragraphs of (do shell script "find " & quoted form of POSIX path of oneFolder & " -name '*'")
if (illegal_syntax is not equal to {""}) then
    repeat with each_record in illegal_syntax
    do shell script "/usr/bin/ditto -c -k -rsrc --keepParent " & quoted form of each_record & space & quoted form of (each_record & ".zip")
    end repeat
    end if
First of all that '' will gives me an error.
Second, what i tried to do is once the file/folder is found, zip it at current location. But the problem is how can I zip it without the special character? or should I just give it a name, like "originalfile.zip";?
Last, or maybe you have better idea to deal with this situation? BTW, I can not rename or delete the file/folder because customer won't allow me to do it.

The backslash is used to escape characters in AppleScript, so if you want to use it in a string you need to escape the escape character, for example "\\*".
You could set the name of the archive by replacing the illegal character with another one, such as an underscore:
    <pre title="this text can be pasted into the Script Editor" style="font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; font-size: 10px; padding: 5px; border: 1px solid #000000; width: 720px; color: #000000; background-color: #FFDDFF; overflow: auto">set each_record to "some*file*name" -- example
    set {TempTID, AppleScript's text item delimiters} to {AppleScript's text item delimiters, "*"}
set the ItemList to text items of each_record
set AppleScript's text item delimiters to "_"
set each_record to the ItemList as text
set AppleScript's text item delimiters to TempTID
    log each_record --> some_file_name
    </pre>

  • HOW DO I FIND FILES THAT HAVE BEEN TRANSFERED FORM MY PC TO MY MAC

Depends how they were transferred. If you used Migration Assistant, a new user was created. Look there in your documents folder. If you used Setup Assistant, look in your documents folder.

  • [AS] How can I find files created in CS2?

My company has 2000+ documents in a sytem that have been created using both InDn CS2 and CS3.
I need to be able to list all of the files that have not been updated to CS3. I've tried querying a known CS2 file using applescript and the FInder but the result only gives me InDn with no version.
I've asked for: file name, creator type and product version when querying the file, but product version doesn't give any result.
    Result is (*Vue.indd, InDn, *)
Can this be done from the finder or do I have to script InDesign to query the documents? Obviously using InDesign will increase the query time.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

If you need to figure out version of both Window and Mac files from a Mac, this is how I do it:
    --Parse file type for version
    on parseFileType(myFile)
         set fileVersion to ""
         tell application "Finder"
set thisFileType to file type of myFile
         end tell
         if thisFileType ≠ "" then
              if thisFileType = "IDd3" then
                   set fileVersion to "3"
else if thisFileType = "IDd4" then
                   set fileVersion to "4"
else if thisFileType = "IDd5" then
                   set fileVersion to "5"
else if thisFileType = "IDd6" then
                   set fileVersion to "6"
              else
                   log "Getting version by hand..."
                   --Adobe InDesign 3.0
--Applescript sucks at parsing large files, use grep instead
set grepString to "Adobe InDesign [0-9]"
                   set theCmd to "grep -rao \"" & grepString & "\" \"" & POSIX path of myFile & "\""
                   log theCmd
                   set grepResult to ""
set grepResult to do shell script theCmd
if length of grepResult > 1 then
set fileVersion to (characters -1 thru -1 of grepResult) as string
                   end if
              end if
         end if
         return fileVersion
    end parseFileType

  • How can I find files renamed using mv file/path/folder .filename

So I was a complete idiot and was messing around with the terminal. I was trying to figure out how to hide folders from other people who would have access to my account. Instead of creating a useless text file within a new folder, I just tried it on one of my own personal folders. The folder itself contained about two months worth of work, and I have no clue why I did it. But I did, and now I cannot find it for anything. This is what I did:
    mv /users/azuredavid/documents/Q1/ .filename
However when I tried to access this via the Go To folder option, it wouldn't work. I used the exact path as above as well as variations using a period. Eventually I resorted to using:
    defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE
    killall Finder
Now all I see is the addition of .DS_Store and .localized files in the folder. Still no work folder. I've seen conflicting reports of what exactly is the correct command for the defaults write command. I've used the one above as well as a few others, like AppleShowAllFiles YES, bool true, etc. Is there any way to get those files back?
    Thanks in advance.

    1. Look for it directly inside your home folder, or try using the Terminal's find command to locate files with the names of items in that folder.
    2. The syntax used is one of the correct ones for that command.

I am using iPhoto and sometimes drag my photos to my desktop then...drag them to iPhoto and then: MY MISTAKE... I put them in the trash thininking that they are safe in iPhoto.
I found out that iPhoto is just and index with a pointer to the photo so that then I empty the trash I am loosing my photos.
BUT ! Iam using Timeline so I thought that I could go back and find the photos that I put in the trash.
BUT it isn't that simple  i cannot find trash in my Timeline.
    Can anybody help PLEASE!!!
I know I have been doing it wrong - please get past that and help me if you can.
    Thanks in advance
    -Keith

If you mean Time Machine? You can not restore items from the Trash, you will have to Restore either selected files or all the iPhotos files to iPhoto from an earlier iPhoto backup.
See >  Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions 15. How do I view or restore selected items?

  • How to Open JPM files in Acrobat

Is there is any option available for opeining JPM files (Image file with extension .jpm) in any version of Acrobat?
    Thanks,
    Rajasekaran A.

I don't think it's hard if understood the question properly you can try this I do it most of the time and this might be the solution for you, sometimes minor simple click is a life saver:)
    1.
Open SQL Server Management Studio, or if it's running select File -> Connect Object Explorer... and click the
    connect drop down arrow
    2.
In the Connect to Server dialog you will see Database Enghine, Analaysis Servie on so on and you go head change Server type to
    SQL Server Compact Edition
    3.
From the Database file drop-down as shown below click the drop down arrow and select <
    Browse for more...>
    4.
    And you will see C:\, D:\, G:\
drive and so on and open, your SDF file where it is located
I hope this has been informative for you and good luck

  • How I open a file in Acrobat?

I have Acrobat 8 professional and also Adobe Reader XI. every PDf file I received opens in Reader. I could not do any thing on the file. I have to save the file and then open in Acrobat for any marking or editing. Is there a way to make my Acrobat as default software for opening a PDF file?.

    Hi Apan ,
    Try this,
Go to Control Panel>All Control Panel Items>Default programs>Set Associations and in that window you can select the file type and click on "Change program" option.
In the next dialog box you can choose the program you want to use to open that particular PDF .

  • How to sync Finder files to iCloud without moving them there

    Hi
I want to sync files on my HD to my iPad via iCloud but want to keep them in their location on the HD in Finder. I don't want to have to move them manually to the iCloud folder or duplicate them (because then I have to remember where the original was)
Is it possible to have a file in Finder (Documents) sync'd via iCloud or does it have to be in the iCloud folder?
    Thanks

  • How do I find files saved to drive

I Am relatively new to i pad and not a big user of files, but some email attachments I receive from fri ends get 'saved to drive, when i Try to open them. I seem to have iCloud on in my settings, all switched to on, but how do I actually get into the app to see my 'files'? Thanks

Are you seeing something like this:
If so, that means you are using the Gmail App, and what its doing is saving the attachments to Google Drive. In which case you would need the Google Drive App to view the saved files there.
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/google-drive-free-online-storage/id507874739?mt= 8
FYI: This is just an interaction between Google Apps and services. It has nothing to do with iCloud. or iCloud Drive.

  • How do I find files on ipod nano 3rd gen that iTunes doesn't show?

When I use the search facility on my nano I can find five mp3 files (which I'd like to delete) that don't show up in the iTunes drop down menu. I've highlighed all options eg audiobooks, podcasts etc and tried a manual search as well as Apple F. My nano appears on my desktop as a "hard drive" but again the search doesn't pull these files up. They're definitely there as I can play them but until I can find them either in iTunes or on desktop I'm unable to delete. Help.

I believe that a few really low quality iPod games were distributed as freeware a long time ago, however you're much more likely to find malware infested web sites than any genuine source if you go hunting for them, and you'll still be disapointed with what you find. If you want games get an iPod touch.

  • How do I find file types in finder? Example "resume" type PAGES?

So if I wanted to use spotlight, how would I search for resumes, kind pages documents, so I do not get any PDF or word doc hits?
    I used to remember this.
    Thanks

Type in .pages in the spotlight search bar. If you want to ignore any PDF files, you can turn off searching for that type of document.
    OR
You could use a boolean search like this (probably more suitable)
    resume (-doc -pdf)
More info on boolean searches in spotlight can be found here..
