How do I find my last iPhone backup in iTunes?

In iTunes on your Mac, go to Preferences (under iTunes in the menu bar).  Then click "Devices" on top.  You will see your last iPhone backup listed, along with its date and time.

  • How do I find my old iPhone backup files from my old HDD? (it's not my startup disc anymore)

Guys I'm using a Macbook running Mavericks... I did a fresh install on this new SSD I bought.  So my old HHD is in a Superdrive caddy thing all hooked up, so I have two storage drives running in my computer.. the old one is for extra storage but I didn't remove anything from the old HHD.. so everything from the old operating system is still there.  How do I go to where itunes stored the backups of my iphone and ipad before I started over with a fresh install and new SSD?
I saw the thing where you press control G and paste in:
    ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
But I don't understand how to change it to go to my second hard drive instead of the one where my OS is running off of.   Also when I navigate to that file by my self on both drives I can't even see the MobileSync folder.  I don't know why... :/
    Anyways, thanks for your help!

~ means your Home directory. Using the command above takes you to the Home directory on the boot drive.  Your backup files are now on another drive in a directory that used to be your Home but is now a subfolder of Users so you have to specify that drive after the /Volumes, then the user name, then the rest to go there
I use OSX 10.4.11 and on it the libraries are still visible.  There's two at least.  One general one at the top level of the boot drive and another for each user (the one with the ~).  I think they made at least one of them invisible with newer OS versions.

  • Why is the date of my last iphone backup in itunes not updating?

I plug in my iphone 4S at night and it goes through the process of backing it up and syncing my apps, which appears to be progressing normally. However the date showing for my last backup hasn't changed since the beginning of Feb.
Does anyone know why? I have this terrible feeling that my backup isn't getting updated, but the apple software isn't smart enough to tell me that it failed.
    Thanks,
    Bill
PS - all of my software, itunes and the OS on the phone are all up to date. (v 6.1.3)

I get the same problem. I moved the backup files (B1) to another drive and then itunes generated new backup files (B2) for my iPhone. They seem to be of similar size. Due to my running out of space on my system drive, I've linked the backup folder to another drive. This is where I moved my original backups (B1). After I did that, the iPhone seems to sync but once again, the date of the backup did not change. I have no idea what the issue is. I'll save both B1 and B2.
To be sure you've got an up to date backup, I recommend changing the name of the original backup folder to backup2 and then forcing itunes to make a new backup from scratch.
On a windows machine, the backup folder is found at:
    C:\Users\(Username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup

  • How do I get the "previous" Iphone backup from Itunes?

I restored my Iphone but ran out of disc space on C:/ when I restored my backup.
When I connected my Iphone again - it made a fresh backup of the restoed "clean" Iphone.
How can I get hold of the previous backup?

    Hi Greg
Thanks for reply. Yes - it unfortunately did do quick "blank" backup before I could stop it.
When I go to Preferences and device - I do not see the older backups? FOr example I can see the following backups - but it does not show to select it:
    D:\Documents and Settings\Ario\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\f42dcf2432719c4572955dcab11b6e67439912b0
I can also see other backups on my previuous PC:
    I:\Dirk Burned PC Backup\user\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\42212401cdb9ec1a500c9291bf83ca8661d55c2e
I also have a 2 day old backup that I can see at my work PC in a similar way.
Is there any way I can get to these backups?  When I log onto Itunes, and I right click on my Iphone, I can restore - but then the selection is only shopwing my latest backup - which is the blank one.

  • HT4946 how to find out my iphone backup password

how do i find out my iphone backup password?

If you created a backup in iTunes that includes a password, unless you created a separate password, and you would know this if you did, your backup password is generally your iTunes account password (your Apple ID password). Try that.

On your iMac launch iTunes and at the top next to the Apple symbol click iTunes > Preferences > Devices and tell me what you see. You last sync should be there showing only a device name. If you have an older backup it will be there as well the difference is it will be the device name with a date and time stamp. Sync and backups are two different things and there is a chance iTunes made a backup the first time you hooked up your iPhone 5.

  • I can't find my last icloud backup

I've changed my iphone 4 with a new one, always 4, but now I can't find the last Icloud backup that i did few hours ago..
    What can i do?

If your replacement phone has already been updated to the latest iOS (6.1.3), you should be able to access any available iCloud backup.  Try going to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Data, go through the setup screens on your phone and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup, then sign into the iCloud account your backed up your old phone to.  See if the backup you're looking for is listed.  If it isn't, it must not be in your iCloud account.
If you still have the old phone, you can back it up to iTunes instead and restore to that backup.

  • How do I recover my password for restoring an iPhone backup using itunes?

I used the "encrypt backup" password protection feature in iTunes for my iPhone when I set it up years ago.  I have a 3Gs, just downloaded and installed iOS5, and it's asking me for my password to restore the backup onto my iPhone with the new operating system only I forgot that specific password and there doesn't appear to be any "lost password" functionality.  Please note, this is different than the standard Apple ID username and password...this is specific to encrypting iPhone backups in iTunes...I have my Apple ID username and password.  Does anyone know if there is a way to recover or reset the password protected encrypt backup password so I can restore my latest backup and not have to start from scratch with everything...PLEASE?

    Hey Gremlin,
Can you let me know if Apple fix the issue? I lost a heap of pics from when my daughter was born (well technically I still have them, it's just that they're unintelligible garble).
Oh and if you're worried about iTunes deleting your backup, they're located in your home account (if you're using a Mac). Just go to:
    Macintosh HD/Users/<your_username>/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/backup
Copy the files to another location and you should be right. I don't know how you get iTunes to recognise them if you put them back though, haven't tried that yet.
    Regards,
    Chris
PS. I've made a couple of posts about this, some of the info there may help. One thing though, I don't think the password is restricted to 4 digits as mentioned there. Can anyone confirm that?

    why

    Hey quarterback45,
Thanks for the question. This usually occurs when your new iPhone is on a earlier iOS version than that of which the backup was created with:

  • HT1976 How can I find my lost iPhone 4

How can I find my lost iPhone 4

One way is through the Find My Phone application but provided that:-
    1) the iPhone is connected to the internet (be it by way of Wifi OR data); and
    2) you have previously activated the feature.
Then again, even if the above conditions are true, you will most probably only get the rough location of the phone and not the "exact" location of it.For instance, if the iPhone is in a high rise building with 60 floors, you will only know it is in the building but never which floor it is.
Unless you are carrying your laptop all around, activating the Siren would assist you in finding your iPhone.
    Good luck (Taken style)

How do I stop encrypting my iPhone backups if I've forgotten my backup password?

    Hello Robot-the-Cat,
I can understand that frustration of not being able to access your back up because of a forgotten password. Take a look at the article below for some suggestions to try to get the password unlocked. It will give some suggestions of past password ideas as well as if you are using a Mac, you can recover the password using Keychain Access.
