I moved and my previous cable provider shutdown my old email address and I have forgotten the password for that Itunes ID and I need to migrate it to my new ID/email. Is there a way to do merge these 2 accounts for apps and music? I have the original IPad getting ready to switch to a 3.

How can I find out the database version from an old backupset

Hi,
I have to restore a database using an old backupset (4 years ago) to a new database. My challenge is we don't know what version of the database were used back then. Is there anyway I can find this information. We are using the RMAN catalog.
Or is RMAN restore and recovery can be used to a newer version than the backupset?

We are using its own software for all databases hosted in the server. So I need to cleanup and reinstall after tested in 11g. A little bit more work, but if it works, that's ok. Is there any other suggestions?

How can watch film rentals purchased in iTunes on mac on apple tv 2nd gen?

I just rented an HD film on iTunes (latest version) on my MBA. Home sharing is switched on on MBA, and on Apple TV, but the new film doesn't show up in the relevant Library on Apple TV. I've just read that in this case, you have to wait for the film to finish downloading completely in iTunes first. How annoying! Is there any way around this , I wonder??

Many thanks, vazandrew. I wanted to rent it directly in Apple TV, but the latter frequently (but not in every situation) rejects my password. Applecare believed they had fixed that some time ago, but now it's back!

First time poster here. I would like to ask the question when you buy a new computer, if you download itunes and sign into it using your account setting, are all your songs etc still stored on it?
I have just bought a new computer and I am wondering how to get all my stuff on itunes from the old computer to the new one without having to start from scratch, does anyone know if there is an easy way to do this?

No, simply installing iTunes and authorizing your computer will not restore your music. You will to transfer your iTunes folder from your old computer. In your iTunes folder (assuming you used the default settings) are your media and your iTunes.itl file which contains all of your playlist data, playcounts, ratings, etc. Depending on the size of your library, you can transfer this using a usb flash drive, an external hard drive, by burning to DVD or by using an ethernet cable.

Many thanks JEM24 for your help. Ive just spent the best part of six hundred pounds on a new Sony Rx100m2 compact camera, so I have no interest in the Ipods camera at all really. I doubt Ill be watching many videos on it as Im very lucky in that I have a good Android tablet. Its more as a stock music player that Ill be buying the Ipod for, if indeed I do end up buying one. I dont like the idea of paying the exorbitant amount added for more memory space that Apple along with most other companies charge. In fact I read an article on this very subject just yesterday in the tech section of Flipboard. It stated in the article that in the case of the Iphone the actual cost of each additional gigabyte of storage to Apple et al is something in the order of 60p.. This is certainly not reflected in the price us the customer has to pay at the till.. Its for this reason primarily that Apple in particular, because their products do not allow adding expandable memory of your own in the form of cheap to buy cards, that nobody in their right mind buys the 64gig etc Iphones..I am aware that we are discussing my potential purchase of an Ipod Touch here but you see my point. I need to update my iPad to IOS 5-- or later at this point, but first, I need to transfer my purchases from my iPad to my iTunes.
I haven't done this already, because where I had iTunes previously, was on an old laptop that ran as slow as molasses. So, now with a new(er) PC, I just downloaded the newest version of iTunes to the desktop, and selected "transfer purchases", but iTunes gave me some sort of option to select, where I could either only download 'purchased items to play from the iTunes library', or to 'replace everything on the iPad with items already in the iTunes on this PC'.
When I downloaded the latest iTunes on the new PC, it automatically pulled in any music i already had on the computer, but I dont want this to replace everything I've purchased from iTunes, or what I have on my iPad currently.
What do I do to transfer? And, then to sync?
Do I need to disable the iTunes from my old laptop?
How do I ultimately update to the new operating system?

Sound like you need to remove whatever you currently have on the new PC and migrate the library from your old laptop over properly...
These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
If you have an iOS device that syncs with contact & calendar data on your computer you should migrate this information too. If that isn't possible create a dummy entry of each type in your new profile and iTunes should offer to merge the existing data from the device into the computer, otherwise the danger is that it will wipe the information from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data. If you don't have any Apple devices then see HT2519 - Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store.

I'm going to see if Currys can remove all info from my hard drive and hopefully recover my itunes, but if this does not work is there another way to get them?

The computer not working in no way means the drive is inaccessible.
Place the drive in an external enclosure.
Use the backup of the computer to restore the data to the new computer.
