How do I find out if a class file has deprecated functions

Currently I'm having problems with a old Visual Cafe class.
It is definately using deprecated awt funcions.
My question is..
1) Without the source code how do I find out what deprecated functions the CLASS file is using.
2) Has any deprecated class been truly scrapped ? If so, I cannot find
it in the JDK API documentation or the java.sun.com search engine..

Here is what I did, to answer your question. I unzipped the symantec jar and used a decompiler (JAD works fine, or cavaj) to create an entire src tree (you can do this with 1 command). Then, compile using your target version of Java. There are well over 100 warnings (with -deprecation on) ranging from Cafe's use of awt.Component methods (mostly), Thread.suspend in their Timer class, to the use of java.util.Date in their Calendar component.

I have a file which has a Hold.
However, It could be one of a number of Holds as defined by the Holds list. How do I (ideally in PowerShell) find out which hold is being used to hold the file and how can I remove that Hold from the file so I can change it and re-apply the hold ?

Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to remove Hold from the file.
If an item has been added to more than one hold, you can view the list of holds that pertain to that by using the Compliance Details command.
Open the list or library that contains the item for which you want to view the hold information.
Point to the item that you want, click the arrow that appears, and then click Compliance Details.
On the Compliance Details dialog, click Add/Remove from hold.
On the Hold Status page, click the arrow under the Remove from hold option to view a list of holds the item is associated with.
You can use the Compliance Details command to remove an individual item from a hold.
Open the list or library that contains the item that you want to remove from a hold.
Point to the item that you want, click the arrow that appears, and then click Compliance Details.
In the Hold Status section, click Add/Remove from a hold.
On the Item Hold Status page, select the Remove from hold option and then select the hold from which you want to release the item.
Click Save.

How do i find out the speed of file transfers

Hi all, first i have to admit i dont actually have a Time Capsule, i have a Western Digital MyBookLive with which i backup my MacBookPro using Time Machine.
I have also upgraded my Router to one with Gigabit LAN, my MacBookPro is gigabit and so is my WD MyBookLive gigabit !!!.
I already realise that file tranfers can in NO WAY can get anywhere near gigabit speeds, but, neverthless how do i find out how fast my gear does transfer files ?.
I am currently backing up using TimeMachine using a wire, i would like to see the actual difference between Wired and Wireless transfers.
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated !. thanks for looking.

I have the Network Tab selected: i have Data recieved at anywhere between 100 and sometimes as high as 400
whereas data sent is always under 10 !
peak is about 8 so does Data sent refer to to My Time Machine Backup GOING TO my Network Hard Drive ?
if so where is the Data recieved stuff, going to or coming from ?. it is all a bit confusing for me, i think i better go back to bed and lay down LOL.

You can stop that someone by changing your password. You can not find someone, not really unless after you change password, that someone will come to you and ask for it.

How can I find out where the Library files currently used by iTunes are located?

I have had a bit of a nightmare sorting out my iTunes files so I have various versions of Library files all over the place. How can I tell where the Library file that iTunes is currently using is located? In Preferences I can see the Library "Name", but I don't think that is much help. Preferences also shows where my i-Tunes media folder is but not where the Library files are.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Ah, I was assuming you would search in Finder and display some details. All alternative approach is to Option start iTunes and click the Choose option. It should show a file selection box targeted at the folder of the currently active library.

How can i find out what cursor the user has selected on an xy graph?

I have an XY graph in which while the program runs it will be creating cursors in certain locations on the plot. I want to give information about this cursor when selected upon, I THOUGT that active cursor does this.. but appreently not.. it seems to jsut keep spitting out 0, any ideas?

You might look at the Selected Cursors property. It indicates which
cursors will be acted upon by the movement palette. It should be
equivalent to the small LED buttons on the cursor palette.

Finding out that an open file has changed

Hi. I'm working on a java app to monitor a log file. Unfortunately, when the log file rotation occurs (by moving the file to "log.1" and creating a new "log") I can't figure out how to determine that from my app; the code just goes it's merry way. When the file is renamed, the open file in the java app continues to have access to the original file (under the new name) and if I add lines to the "log.1" file, the java app continues to read them.
This is on JDK 1.4.0 for Linux, and I'm using a RandomAccessFile object.
Any ideas? Other than (wastefully) opening a new File everytime through the monitor loop I can't think of a clean solution.

i think its in general settings and storage. this will list your apps and how much room everything is taking. do you have a lot of apps downloaded?

Do you refer to compilation error or runtime errors...????
For compilation errors , you can write "show errors" after the try of package creation....
For runtime errors... - assuming you call one - by -one the most if not all the routines in this package - you can execute the first(main) routine which calls the second , and then the third ... e.t.c. . When the runtime error occurs , the routine / line of it will be displayed.....
If the above is not true (the packaged routines are not called , at least most of them ) you should add exception portions in your code and messages in them (dbms_output.put_line)...

How to find out if a class is abstract?

I'm loading some classes via ClassLoader. Some of them could be interfaces or abstract classes. I'm only interested in classes which I can instantiate. With myClass.isInterface() I can check if the class is an interface, but how can I find out if it is an abstract class? I'm missing the method Class.isAbstract().

Is there anywhere out there a tool, to find out
from which classes is an other class depending ?
I need this to find out a bug which came apparently from a static constructor which will be accomplish by loadind the class. It is for me important not only to know the directly imported classes but also the classes which are imported by the imported classes... and so on.

You're misunderstanding what importing a class means. You can import a class without using it, and you can use a class without importing it. Importing a class has absolutely nothing to do with using a class and does not in any way indicate a class dependancy.
In order to find the class dependancies, you should ignore the import statements. There are some tools that will do dependancy analysis, such as the free jikes compiler, but dependancy analysis in Java is very complicated and as far as I know there is no program that gets it exactly correct.
