How do I find the unused iMovie files so I can delete them?

I'm using a MacBook, late 2008, running Lion & iMovie '11. 164 GB hard drive, 4 GB RAM.
I imported a long movie (well, an hour & a half) into iMovie - at least, I TRIED to. It quit about 3/4 of the way through the import. I tried importing again, the last of the 2 tapes. Still quit at the same point. I started getting a "Startup Disk is almost full" message so I tried deleting every possible file I could delete (iTunes TV shows, pictures, etc.) Freeing up that much memory allowed me to import the last 1/4 of the 2nd tape once more.
I got the movie finished with transitions, titles, etc. & tried to send it to iDVD. It quit after a couple of hours & said there was an error (no number given) and could not finish. I once again started getting that "Startup Disk is Almost Full" message. That's all I can get now. I lost the import of the last 1/4 of the tape, too.
I tried moving the movie file (both the movie file & the iMovie Project folder) to an iMac, 2010, running Lion & iMovie '11 with a 1 TB hard drive & 8 GB RAM. However, the entire movie will not move. It once again leaves out that last 1/4. I cannot import directly from the camera because I just discovered the iMac uses Firewire 800 & I only have a 400 cable!
I just want to find the hidden iMovie trash files from the MacBook, delete them, and re-export the video to iDVD. Where the heck are they?

if you mean to go into the Aperture library in order to get image files to print with Canon's software it's not really possible. The best you would be able to do would be to get the master image and if you're shooting RAW that will be the RAW file. In any case no adjustments you made to the image in Aperture would be available, versions don't exist as files until you export them.
If you want to print with the Canon software you would export the image from Aperture and then print that image file.
If I've misunderstood your question post back,

  • How do I reclaim the unused space after a huge data delete- very urgent

    Hello all,
How do I reclaim the unused space after a huge data delete?
alter table "ODB"."BLOB_TABLE" shrink space; This couldn't execute with ora 10662 error. Could you please help

    'Shrink space' has requirements:
    shrink_clause
The shrink clause lets you manually shrink space in a table, index-organized table or its overflow segment, index, partition, subpartition, LOB segment, materialized view, or materialized view log. This clause is valid only for segments in tablespaces with automatic segment management. By default, Oracle Database compacts the segment, adjusts the high water mark, and releases the recuperated space immediately.
Compacting the segment requires row movement. Therefore, you must enable row movement for the object you want to shrink before specifying this clause. Further, if your application has any rowid-based triggers, you should disable them before issuing this clause.

  • How do I find the 'invisible' pdf file of the iphoto book?

    Hi!
Under Panther, there was a technique for finding the pdf file that iPhoto created of the book that was sent to be printed. Since I last tried this technique, I upgraded both machine and system. Now the technique doesn't work. At least I can't find the right pdf file, anywhere.
Has Apple changed how it creates the iphoto books? Is there a new way of naming the resulting pdf files? I'd like to check the file before ordering the book.
    Thanks!

    Try this way:
How to Find the iPhoto Generated PDF File:
1 - Start the ordering process and stop after the book has been assembled.
2 - Since Spotlight cannot find and display invisible files it is difficult to locate the iPhoto generated pdf file. I use the application Kilometre, which does show invisible files, to locate and copy the PDF file to the desktop. You can also use a 3rd party application like Cocktail or TinkerTool to make all invisible file visible for this purpose but don't forget to make them invisible again after you're done.
3 - The file will be located in your HD/private/var/tmp/folders.501/TemporaryItems/iPhoto folder. You can then Option-drag it to the desktop to get a copy of it.
4 - Preview the PDF file and then, if satisfactory, you can continue with the ordering process.
Hope this has been of some help. Good luck.

  • HT1222 When I try to install iTunes 10.7 it says it can't find the iTune64.msi file. I can't seem to find a replacement download for that file.

I have ITunes installed on my PC which runs Windows Vista in support of my IPad.  When I try to install the update for ITunes 10.7 version, it says it can't find the "itunes64.msi" file.  How do I correct this, or where can I find a download for the itunes64.msi file?

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get aCode 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • In the command line how do I find the etc/host file? is there one?

I am trying to work remotely and use our lotus notes system (which is from a windows based server) but I have to connect to the mail server and our IT person wants to find the equivalent of the Windows host file or host table . is there such a file? we went here

    hosts(5) - Linux man page
    Name
hosts - The static table lookup for host names
    Synopsis
    /etc/hosts
    thanks

Since you're using a Macintosh, quit reviewing linux stuff. These, when entered in the Terminal app (inside /Applications/Utilities/) should point you in the right direction:
    *cat /etc/hosts*
    details in:
    *man hosts*
FWIW, you should search the Unix forum (or post your query there) under OS X Technologies.

  • How do I keep the songs on my ipod if I delete them off my computer

How do i get the songs that are on my ipod nano to stay on it if I delete the snogs off my computer ? Is there any way because if I delete them off my computer the next time I connect my ipod up they go off it , I dont want to have to keep the 300 odd songs on my computer but I do want to keep them on my Ipod . If you could help me out that would be great with all this snow we're having up my way it would be nice to have some music to shovel to lol thanks a bunch
    Ash
P.S : if u could could you e-mail me and explain how if there is an option I can choose to stop the songs from going off my ipod when I delete them from my comp. e-mail me at [email protected]

You'll eventually want to Transfer music manually
    However:
Deleting songs off of iTunes or your computer is a very bad idea unless you have created one or more backup files of all your songs.
The iPod is really designed to be playback device - not a primary storage device (although it can be used as such), and certainly not as the only storage medium for all your music.
Using the iPod as the sole repository of any of your songs is a very risky practice. When (not ‘if’) you need to restore the iPod, return the iPod for service, or it's song files are somehow lost or damaged, you will be re-ripping all your CDs back into iTunes (time-consuming for any more than 10-20 CDs) and re-purchasing all your iTMS songs (expensive). Restoring the iPod is a common ‘fix’ to many small issues that arise.
If you cannot store your songs on a PC or within iTunes, then you will need to have some storage medium in use (an external hard drive, DVDs or CDs). You should also consider a secondary backup medium for additional safety. Whether you keep your music in iTunes or on an external source – Multiple copies of your music files are a must!
Always backup your PC files: both music and data. Backup as frequently as possible. The usual ‘metric’ is to determine just how much work (hours, days, weeks) or money spent you are willing to repeat by extending out your time between backups. Your choice, your potential headache &/or loss.
Many data-savvy folks have more than one backup and create incremental backups every time they add to or change their Library. Depending on the work I am doing, I may perform several backups during the same day. As they are incremental, and placed on my Backup ExHD – it is a very quick operation to perform several times a day, when needed.
If you are heavily invested in your Library data (Playlists, Play Counts, Ratings, Last Played, Date Added, etc.), then:
it is critical that you also make multiple backups of your ‘iTunes Library.itl’ file.
iTMS REMINDER: While you can always take the time to re-rip the CDs you own to restore your iTunes music, if you lose your iTMS purchased music and have no backups, you will have to re-purchase them. Few exceptions are made to this rule – at least none that I am aware of.

  • How do I find the number of file descriptors in use by the system?

    Hey folks,
I am trying to figure out how many file descriptors my Leopard system has in use. On FreeBSD, this is exposed via sysctl at the OID kern.open_files (or something close to that, can't recall exactly what the name is). I do see that OS X has kern.maxfiles, which gives the maximum number of file descriptors the system can have open, but I don't see a sysctl that tells me how many of the 12288 descriptors the kernel thinks are in use.
There's lsof, but is that really the only way? And, I'm not even sure if I can just equate the number of lines from lsof to the number of in use descriptors. I don't think it's that easy (perhaps it is and I'm just over complicating things).
So, anyone know where this information is?
    Thanks for your time.

    glsmith wrote:

Can't think of anything other than lsof right now. However:
Only root can list all open files, all other users see only their own
    There is significant duplication, and
All types of file descriptor are listed, which you may not want, so you need to consider filtering.
As an example, the following will count all regular files opened by all users:
sudo lsof | awk '/REG/ { print $NF }' | sort -u | wc -lIf you run it without the sudo, you get just your own open files.

  • How to dynamically find the dependent jar files on user's PC

I've written an application to deal with JTAPI. Unfortunately the implementations by vendors are different in terms of file names. Ideally I'd like to load jars based upon what's installed, e.g. load jtapi.jar when Cisco is installed, or Escjtapia.jar when it's Avaya. The application uses a small subset of JTAPI so different implementations should not yield any different results.
I edited the manifest file in my jar so that the Class-path has both jar file names for Cisco and Avaya. I didn't enter any path, hoping the CLASSPATH of Windows would be searched, but it is not the case. Also, if other vendors are supported in the future, I might have to add all different file names in the manifest. I don't think the class loader will work in my case, as I may not know the class name at all. I just want to search the system's classpath the find any jar complys to JTAPI and load it.
Anybody can give suggestions on deployment? Thanks!

I found it. EXIT_SAPLV01Z_001 does the trick. A package contains many User-Exits, BADIs and enhancement points, so it took me a while to go thru all of them.

  • How do I make the marching ants bigger so I can see them?

    Hi.
I just "upgraded" to Photoshop CC and a new macbook pro on Yosemite.
I have been using photoshop since the 90's and this is the first time Im having serious problems with it.
The "marching ants" are impossible to see when using the magic wand to select.
Im sure there are better ways to select these days- but I have a method to my madness and need to be able to see what Im doing.
And yes my glasses prescription is up to date.
It feels like its a function of black and white imagery and this new screen which though "better" doesn't feel "better"- in fact it makes many things harder to see...
Any advice would be very very much appreciated.
    Thank-you
