Not photos, just data synced with iCloud shown in Settings>iCloud. If you don't have sufficient storage to back up to iCloud, back up to your computer instead using iTunes (connect you phone to your computer, open iTunes, click on the name of your phone in iTunes, go to ths Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings and click Back Up Now). Also transfer your purchases to your iTunes library (connect your phone to your computer, open iTunes and go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases). If you have photo stream photos older than 30 days tha you wan to save, save these to your camera roll before backing up (tap Select, tap the photos, tap the share icon -- box with upward facing arrow, then tap Save to Camera Roll).
When setting up your new phone, when given the option choose Restore from iTunes Backup and restore the backup you made earlier.

If your lock button is broken, the only solution is to get the phone replaced or repaired. There is no way to reset the phone without a functioning lock button.

This is a user to user tech support form, not Apple support. The S/N wouldn't provide any solution regardless.

ok, i think i posted all my question in the title LOL, I had sync my ipod to my computer over 2yrs ago, my computer crashe and now i have a new one. It will not let my sync my ipod with out reseting my ipod which will delet everthing on it. The problem is all the songs i bought on itunes is backed up on icloud, but i have alot that is from cds that i know longer have and if i did a reset i would lose all that. What did you do with the SIM from the iPhone 4? You need to "activate" the phone, but it does not need to be a SIM that is connected to service. It is just what happens when you update the phone. In this case, activation does not mean to activate it on a cellular carrier, but just to activate the phone so it works. Unfortunately downloads larger than 20mbps require wifi due to most carriers having data limits. This "requirement" keeps people who are not familiar with data and what takes up a lot of data from going over.

You can change your e-mail contact address in your account settings for an AppleID. You cannot merge or transfer content from one AppleID to another. You really, really only want to have one Apple ID and just upddate the contact information.

Technically, the phone CAN be tracked using the "serial" number, but no one will do that for you. If your phone is offline, there's no way of reaching it. Most likely, it's already been restored and either put up for sale on eBay, or is being used by the theives themselves.

This was EXACTLY what I needed about the purchases I made from my device. However, is there a way to re-download other ones you've made from a computer? Because I realized some of them were not just purchased from my device.

To effectively transfer ownership of the iPhone requires that it be "restored" as a new device.

The iPhone is not a backup device. Your computer backs up the iPhone, not the other way around. What you use to back up your computer is up to you - Macs use Time Machine. I assume PCs use something similar.
If her PC backup is dead you will have difficulty extracting content from the iPhone since it is not designed to work that way.
All her Apple purchases can easily be transferred to another iPhone. However, her contacts will be gone, as will any music or other contact obtained from sources other than Apple.
There are a number of third party utilities that claim to be able to extract content from an iPhone. See wjosten's procedure here:
