  • How can I get iTunes to locate and play all my music files?

How can I get iTunes to locate and play all my music files?

I have this problem too. I am researching now. Here is what I know so far. If you right click a song then get ifo the it will say Protected AAC or purchased AAC. Protected wont play on sonos, purchased will play on sonos. It seems that all my protected were purchased 2005 to 2009 or so. I am trying to find out if apply will convert these for a small dfee or if I use the itunes cloud these tunes will convert for me. downloading and reloading is not an option for me. Pretty much a money grab by apple either way. I am sure Steve is smiling.

  • How can I get iTunes to refresh its database of the music on my PC?

This is what I want to do:
1.Delete a lot of tracks in various folders on my hard drive
2.Then get iTunes to run through its database and compare to my hard drive and remove any references to tracks it can no longer find.
How do I do this? I can't find a way of getting iTunes to order the tracks by folder location, nor does there seem to be a refresh method.
If you want to know why I want to do this:
I had a bunch of music on my PC when I installed iTunes. So iTunes added all the music it could find to its database but basically without any info, like Artist/Album etc etc.
Now, I don't mind importing my CD's again so that iTunes can organise it properly with all the info and track order info, but how do I get iTunes to forget about the stuff that was originally imported? Bearing in mind that I don't want to forget about everything, and also there doesn't seem to be a way of ordering the music by location. If there was, I could just ordrer it that way and then select the tracks I want to delete.
    Thanks in advance...

After a couple of days, I'm noticing that the repeat(ing) offenders have more than 10 episodes, and seem to keep repeating them every time I sync.
They only show once in my phone and in the iTunes Podcasts, but through iTunes and looking at what's in my phone is when I see the repeats.
Even after I've marked a podcast as played, and deleted it from within my phone, as well as telling iTunes to delete the played episodes, it still shows multiples of the played episodes.
There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it either. They aren't the newest ones either.

  • How do I get iTunes to recognize my iPod over a network?

Ok So I have an Apple Time Capsule which I use as my router and NAS drive. Though I also plug my iPod into the usb port on it. The iPod is recognized on my computer and over the network easily although how can I get iTunes to recognize it and be able to add music and video?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

Even though it's physically possible, I doubt an iPod is intended to work that way. Why do you want to do that?

What I believe you're seeing is the disk drive function of your iPod, which is different from the music player function. I'd give up trying to play music from your iPod while connected to a Time Capsule.

  • How can i get itunes to reconizie my computer?

How can I get my computer to recognize itunes?

    Hi Pam,
    Thank you for your reply.
Your iTunes account and library should not be affected if you need to Deauthorize All computers, as touched on by the article iTunes Store: Authorize or deauthorize your Mac or PC:
After you deauthorize, your content will still be on your computer. You may need to reauthorize to play it.
After deauthorizing all, be sure to authorize your computer (with the same Apple ID used previously) by following the steps in the article.
If you are not able to clear your list of authorized computers after receiving the computer back from the repair, you may want to get help from iTunes Store Support:
    Get Help
If you need help, contact iTunes Store support. The iTunes Store is governed by its Terms of Service, which permits Apple to change the authorization policy.
    Best,
    Jeremy

  • How do I get iTunes to recognize my iPod without losing all of my music?

I keep all of my music on an external harddrive. My computer crashed and once I fixed everything and reloaded all of the software, I tried connecting my iPod. All of my music is on the external harddrive and on my iPod, but I can't get iTunes to synchronize. I don't want to redo all of my playlists. Is there a way to get iTunes to communicate with my iPod without losing anything?

Right-click the track in the library, and choose Show in Windows Explorer.
If you were hoping to get the file path displayed in a column, as is possible in Windows Media Player, note that iTunes does not have that ability.

  • How do I  get iTunes 11 to locate most of my music files?

I have used iTunes since it was first introduced and have a library of 55,000 pieces of music, the music files are kept on an external Hard Drive. Since upgrading to iTunes 11 my player will not recognize most of the music files on my external hard drive and worse still it will, when I find the file, still not remember where it is and will offer to update other missing music files then "hang" / freeze until I am forced to quit iTunes.  As it took a huge amount of time to load all of this onto my apple desktops over several years I would love someone to point me in the right direction to resolve this. Does the Compilation folder complicate the itunes search factor?

Do you have a working copy of the library anywhere? The key file is called iTunes Library.itl and normally exists inside <User's Music>\iTunes. This is the file that knows what is in your library and each of the playlists, and holds ratings, play counts etc. Changing the media folder path in preferences tells iTunes where you'd like it to store media in future. It doesn't magically connect iTunes to any media that might already be there, or fix links to media that has been moved, or make it pick up a non-existent library file. If the worst comes to it you will need to import the media into the new empty library.
See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device if you have any of these to recover ratings, play stats and playlists, and to associate your device with the new library.

  • HT1351 How do I get iTunes to recognize my ipod classic?

I have a library on my ipod classic. can't import them to itunes-it doesn't recognize my classic. i have read all the articles about how to connect, etc but none of the stuff worked.
I bought an ipod touch and now have to copy all my CDs into itunes to get the MANY songs to my touch.
How could apple make it almost impossible to use older ipods with itunes???

The latest iTunes works with my old 3rd gen iPod from 2003, and no doubt works with the original iPod from 2001.  So I don't think the problem is iTunes.
The latest iTunes may hide the sidebar, which is where the iPod appeared in previous versions.  If the sidebar (along left side of window) is hidden, from the iTunes menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.  In the sidebar, the iPod should appear under DEVICES.  It does not appear there when you connect it?
When you connect it, does anything happen on the iPod's screen?  Does the iPod's battery charge when connected?  Does the iPod still work (as an iPod) for listening to its music?
