How do I get my HP Photosmart C6280 All-In-One to scan?

I have updated to Mac OS 10.9 the driver for my HP Photosmart C6280 All-In-One, but the scanner function no longer works.  The Apple update list shows the update was performed on October 30.
The printer does not show up in the list of printers as a "Bonjour"  printer, as the instructions from HP's website indicate it should.

I understand you're having issues printing/scanning with your Photosmart C6280 since upgrading the 10.9 on your Mac. I would like to help you with this as best I can.
The reason your having issues is because the HP software you're using is not designed for the 10.9 operating system. The last full software package HP released for the Photosmart C6280 was for 10.6, so the best option at this point would be to use the in operating system drivers.
To get everything to work properly again, I'm going to link you to how to completely remove the HP software so you can use the Apple software as Sunshyn2005 has described in her post. Once you follow those steps to begin using the Apple software you may not know how to scan using the Apple software and you can learn 3 different ways to do so.

  • Need driver for HP Photosmart C6280 All-in-One priner

    I was given a HP Photosmart C6280 printer but the person did not have the disc that came with it to install the driver. I am technologically disinclined and have no clue what to do. Can someone please tell me where to find a driver for this printer and how to install it? I have tried to use a driver on some other websites, but they want a credit card and quite frankly, I don't trust them.

  • Macos 10.9 Mavericks and photosmart c6280 all in one

    Hi all,
    my problem is that, following the installation procedure for ethernet-connected c6280 on Macos 10.9 Mavericks, the scanner part is not enabled. The printer is working but the scanner is not recognized. So there is no "scanner" tab in the printer/scanner control panel and no "scan" button enabled in any application.
    This happen on a clean (from scratch) installation of Mavericks (italian language). I followed the MacOS software update procedure that found no update available.
    Starting the same Mac from an old HD with Mavericks updated from previous Macos version with old installation of hp driver everything is working fine, scanning via ethernet included (obviously with same printer).

    I noticed your post about the scanning concern you have with your Photosmart C6280 and Mavericks. I will gladly help you with this situation.
    There is actually no full feature driver available that includes the scanning portion of the software with this model of printer on 10.9, which is most likely why you see the scanner part not enabled.

    However, there is some good news. There are work around options for you to still scan with your 10.9! I would like for you to click on the "How to Scan" link below and scroll down to the bottom of the page. You will see your 3 options for scanning there.

  • Photosmart C6280 All-in-One Printer Will not acquire IP Address

    I have happily had a Photosmart C6280 for some time now, however I recently replaced my router and my ISP Cable Modem (NetGear WNDR 3700 and Cisco 2100 respectively). At first everything was wonderful. Sadly, my NetGear router went bad and I had to return it. As it stands right now my printer will not take an IP address from the router. I have tried everything I can think of, several times and nothing has changed. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software on the Windows 7 and XP machines that I'm  using. I have tried to manually set an IP address but on my printer when I'm done inputting all of the information there is no "enter" option.  Looking at the Connectivity Status page it states : Network Interface Adaptor Summary

    On the front of the printer: Setup > Network > Reset Network Defaults.
    Now, set a static IP address for the printer:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wired along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you know what that is, set an IP outside that range but no higher than 254 (the last number in the address). If you do not know this, enter the current IP address.
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Leave the gateway and DNS blank. Click 'Apply'
    Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
    After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

    I'm afraid of deleting music and not being able to get it again. My music that I listen to is very important to me. One account is already verified on 5 computers so I can't verify it anymore. I NEED to find out how to somehow get all my music that is on my current iphone into ONE account so that I can transfer it to a new iphone. Is there any way to do this without plugging it into a computer?
    By the way I think my music is all from like 4 or 5 accounts. (All mine.)

    Currently, there is not a way to put multiple purchases from different Apple ID’s onto one Apple ID. If you need to authorize another computer and our out of Authorizations because you do not have access to older computers that no longer work, you can do a deauthorize all and then start authorizing the computers that you currently have.

    In HP Digital imaging monitor: Went to Help>Check for updates  Update file CIT248813-HPU-REDBOX-v4.exe downloads, but after it looks like its installing, I then get the following error message :Critical Update to HP Product Assistant Failed.     I have tried everything to get my printer working again....and can't seem to do it. So I could use your HELP. When I try to print, it reads add paper. I have plenty of paper in the tray. I have totally unplugged it for days and have restarted the PC. When I have the 4 x 6 photo paper in the tray it prints on that. I'm looking for it to print on the legal size paper.

  • C6280 All in One ink error message

    Hi there,
    I have the HP photosmart C6280 All in One printer that recently requested that I replace the Magenta ink.  I did so but when I attempt to print I get the following message.
    To print in color, instal the following cartridges:
     Magenta
    To print with black only, click black only.  to begin printing on certain products, press the Resume button on the printer control panel.  the printer will replace colors wit grayscale.
    To cancel, press the cancel button on printer.
    If empty ink cartridge is not replaced soon, all printing will stop.
    I have had this issue before and someone told me how to fix it but I can't find the original message or email for it at all but it work fabulous and I think it involved a reset.  Can anyone assist me with this, perhaps explain how to reset the C6280.

    Removing the ink/power reset procedure can eliminate the cartridge message.

    NOTE: step 8 has a hyperlink that is no longer valid. The cleaning of the printheads will affect your color output greatly.

    The document provides steps to troubleshoot printouts that do not match the screen while printing from the web.
    Does this also happen when printing graphics from somewhere other than the web ?

  • Photosmart C6180 All-in-One: Replace cartridge message after already having replaced cartridge

    Would appreciate ideas on how to resolve this issue with Photosmart C6180 All-in-one Printer.
    Receiving "Cannot Print, Replace the following empty ink cartridge(s) to resume printing."
    Replaced cartridge with newly purchased cartridge (so not expired) and still receiving same message.
    Thoughts?

    All cartridges (from original to replaced ) were HP ink cartridges.
    No refills.
    No non-HP ink.
    All are now within expiration.
    Issue appeared when yellow cartridge ran out of ink.
    Printed black .
    Went to store ( STAPLES ) and purchased 02 yellow XL plus 02 combo pack . 
    Replaced yellow with 02 yellow XL. 
    It did not recognize new replacement cartridge.
    Replaced yellow with 02 yellow from combo.
    Again did not recognize second new replacement cartridge.
    Per HP, replaced  'expired" cartridges (not yellow).
     No change.
    Did Power on Reset / reseat all cartridges OR reset voodoo.
    Iink levels still 0 but able to print self test  in color and  photo.
    Turned off PC and printer for 2 days.
    Now back to three cartridges at ink level 0 and 2 need to bne replaced.
    Only prints black.
    I tried Power on Reset and repalce cartridges, but same result : Black only : replace empty ink cartridges.

    How do I direct my HP 5510 e-all-in-one-printer scan output to an Android tablet? My printer is connected to my wireless network. During the printer setup I was able to identify both my desktop and laptop computers as "scan to" computers and they both appear as destinations on the printer display.   I have been able to direct the printer scans to these two computers without problems. But I have not been able to find a way to direct the scan output to my Android tablet (Android Honeycomb 3.2.1). I have downloaded and use HP ePrint Home and Biz app and can print from the tablet. This app does not appear to offer a way to direct the printer scan output to be sent to the tablet. Any suggestions???

    Currently, HP does not provide any scanning solution for Android OS.
    Scanning from the front panel will allow you to scan to a computer only, and not to any mobile OS.
    I would suggest you to search the Android Market for any 3rd party scan application, as the HP ePrint Home & Biz app currently provide scan capabilities for Apple iOS and Nokia Symbian as you may find listed below:
