How do I get my music from an old iPod to itunes on a new PC

I have an iPod full of music, both downloaded via iTunes and copied from CD. My old PC is no longer available. How do I get my music onto iTunes on my new PC?

- Try making a backup of the iPod by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and selecting Backup.

I have an iphone 4s i have its music on a different computer because we bought a new one. (it is not a mac) I want to transfer all my music from my old ipod (3rd generation) onto my iphone but its music is stored on a different computer, both devices are under the same apple id. If they are purchased music from iTunes, just re-download again on your new computer.
Go to the iTunes Store and select "Purchased" from the Quick Links side bar on the right. Go through all the tabs to download again for free

Once you have successfully done that you can go ahead and choose Erase and Sync when you plug your iPod in.

Your music should be in your iTunes library, that is how it gets synced to the iPod. If that music is not present in the iTunes library, you will need to get a 3rd party software for the computer to get the music off the original iPod and then move it to the iTunes library to be able to sync it to the new iPod.
