When connected to your computer's iTunes you can use File > Transfer Purchases to copy over any music (and other content) that you've bought from Apple. For music that you've copied from your own CDs or bought from other download sites then is it not already on your computer and/or on a backup that you can copy onto your computer ? If not then you will need to find a third-party program to copy them off the phone.
And there is no need to SHOUT. -

Hmmm....why won't my iCloud add photos or music fom iPhone onto iPad? I think I have all the sync stuff set properly. It worked for bookmarks. Oh, and the only thing that transferred for apps were the few I spent $$ on. Do the free ones not transfer?

How do I get all of my songs from my iphone4 to iCloud. These are not iTunes purchased songs, just ones I synced from my laptop to my phone, about 600 songs. I would like to be able to access them from my iPad. I don't want to use the space on my iPad for music. Is this possible?

I helped a friend sync his newmipad with iPhone contacts using the cloud method. Unfortunately, although he got all of his contacts on iPad, as he wished, he ALSO got all of his wife's contacts! As you know, your iPhone 5 is not compatible with our iBook G4. To get your music in iTunes from your iBook to your iPhone you would need to migrate the music files to a newer intel based Mac. A Mac which has Mac OS X 10.6 or higher installed. Then sync your iPhone 5. -

The iphone is not a backup device. The sync is one way -computer iphone.
The exception is itunes purchases.

Sorry - not sure what you are asking. The Purchased music on your device is either on your device (i.e., downloaded to it), or it is not downloaded, in which case it is in iTunes in the Cloud. On your Mac, the same is true. Each device or machine may have different Purchases downloaded from iTunes in the Cloud.

The only supported method to get media onto an iDevice is via iTunes. Read the User's Guide it will describe how to do this in detail.
iCloud does not put media on the device, but using iTunes Match and iCloud it is possible to have access to all media that exists on your computer, but only when the device has Internet access. It will not load media onto the device.
Use of 3rd party tools to transfer files to the device is not supported. -

You can transfer the music purchased from iTunes Store to the computer but not music acquired somewhere else.
Syncing is one way street, computer to iPhone. You have to use 3rd party tool to transfer music not from iTunes Store to the computer. -
