How do I get my music from my Ipod into my Itunes account on my computer

How do I transfer my Ipod's music to my new computer?  I feel like my Ipod (6 years old) is about to die and I need to get the music from my Ipod onto Itunes so when I buy a new Ipod I can still have my library from the old Ipod. Any Ideas out there?
THANKS

  • HT1351 how do i get my music from my iPod to my itunes account?

    Hi!!
I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have an iPod nano and I was trying to sync my music from my iPod to my laptop on iTunes and every time I would hit sync it would say it is going to replace all the music on my iPod with my music on my laptop. Is there ANY way possible that i can just put the music from my iPod to my laptop without it deleting and replacing the music I have on my iPod already?
    PLEASE HELP!!

  • How do i get purchased music from my ipod into my itunes?

I am trying to put the music i just purchased on my Ipod into my Itunes but can't figure it out

iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer

  • How do I get the music from my iPod into my iTunes library on a new computer without erasing all the songs on my iPod?

My itunes library is empty on my new computer, but I have a full library on my ipod. How do I "reverse" sync? I don't see an option in itunes to put all the info from my ipod onto my computer. I see it the other way, which would then erase all the data on my ipod. Help!!

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer is designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is purchased content.

For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

I recieved an older (2007) IPOD classic.  I want to add it to my computer along with the music already on the IPOD.  How do I start an ITUNES account with this used Ipod and NOT erase all the music already on the IPOD?  Years ago I had to use IPOD agent to do this.  Does this still exist?

  • HT1449 how do you move all music from two computers into one itunes account?

How do you move all music from two computers into one itunes account?

An "iTunes account" is an online account you use for buying music, like a bank account.  An iTunes collection is the media you see when you open iTunes. Which do you mean?
If it is two computers, it would also help to know where these are located. Are they on the same local network? If they are, try Home Sharing (and you have control of both and you aren't just trying to get music fro your computer to your friend's computer in another state).  If they are not, you'll have to use an external hard drive or flash drive.
Is this on a PC? Your computer information says Windows but you posted this in the iTunes for Mac forum.

This is all just a partial answer since details will depend upon how you want to do it.

You'll need to get it all onto one iTunes collection on your Mac Pro, then sync the devices to that.  iTunes only lets you transfer purchases from a device, otherwise you have to use third party software.
I guess you could also look into getting iTunes Match.

  • How can I get my music from my iPod onto my iTunes library?

I google searched it and everyone said to go onto 'my computer' and select the device and then go to tools to view the music folder however I do not have an option of tools, is there any other way I can get my music from my iPod onto my iTunes library?

By following the instructions here.  Note that you can't backup the iPod or sync apps.

  • How do I get the music from my ipod to my itunes library when I downloaded them from an older computer from a cd?

A little while ago my old computer that had all my itunes information crashed and I had to get a new computer. I just downloaded itunes to my current computer and I can't figure out how to sync the music from my ipod to my library. When I click sync it only downloads the songs that I bought on itunes and not the ones that were originally from a CD. And when I click "sync music" it pops up a notification that music from my previous library will be removed and my ipod will be synced to my current library with half of my music missing just because I bought them from a CD. So my main question is, how do I get all the songs from my ipod to sync to my computer even though some of it wasn't purchased through itunes?

For music downloaded from iTunes you should be able to copy it over via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases
For music from CDs you will need a third-party program on your computer to copy them off - there are some listed half-way down this page which should be able to copy them back : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
