Are you sure of that?  Check in the Library.  Click on the Apps icon to see all apps.  Similarly click on the Music icon to see the songs.

Tunes: How to move [or copy] your music to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Quick answer if you use iTunes default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Start iTunes with the option (shift on Windows) key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.
Downloading (using iOS or computer) past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not available in all countries; apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this). Movies currently available in the USA only. Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list (e.g., ringtones), or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple notes it is your responsibility to back up your purchases.
Select the store on the left side of iTunes.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
You can re-download your available previous purchases.

  • Clearin data from my old G4 onto my new computer so I can donate it

How do I transfer all the data from my old G4 onto my new power mac? I want to donate the old one but wnat everything on it to be moved onto my new computer.
Is there a way to then clear the old one before donating it?

What model is your new Mac? Migration assistant is usually the standard means for going from one computer to another, but there are a few caveats.

To clear the old drive you should boot to the installer disc and run Disk Utility. Erase the drive with write zeros once selected in the security options. This overwrites the data and makes it hard to recover without very special and costly drive analysis. You can write more than once but unless you have very secret data once should be enough. More times takes much, much longer and I believe the highest option might take days, depending upon the drive size.
Make sure you include the discs that came with the computer to the seller. They will need them to install the OS and for computer hardware testing. If you intend to give them a newer operating system you should give them the newer discs as well. Any operating system on the computer should come with a set of discs for licensing purposes and for use in repairing the drive should problems arise.

  • How do I get my songs and playlists from an external hard drive into iTunes?

I have got all of my songs and playlists on an external drive from my PC. I just bought a mac and can't understand the directions to get my songs and playlists up and running in iTunes...Can anyone help?

If you backed the library up by drag-copying it, drag-copy it to the same location on the new computer. If you backed up an entire iTunes library, you can also drag it to any location, launch iTunes with the Shift key held down, and specify it.
If you used a backup product, check that product’s documentation.
The song files must be located on the computer’s internal drive for them to play without the external one connected. If needed, organize the library in iTunes.

  • How do i transfer paid songs and movies from an old desktop to a laptop

I just got an iPhone 4 and i'm trying to transfer all my media from iTunes on an old desktop to iTunes on a laptop using a USB memory stick. but, it wont let me transfer the songs and movies i paid for. how can i get it??????

Right-click an item other than a rented movie in iTunes, locate it, drag the entire iTunes folder or anything you want to transfer to the flash drive, move it to the other computer, drag it to the hard drive, and from there into the open iTunes application window.
Multiple runs may be needed. Rented movies can't be transferred this way.
The iPhone can also be used; sync it on the old computer, authorize the new one, and choose Transfer Purchases in iTunes. This method will transfer rented movies.

  • The display on my MacBook Pro from 2007 finally gave out, how do I transfer all the data from the old one onto my new one?

A week or so ago, the screen on the Macbook Pro I've had for 5 years went permanently black. The screen itself still works, but it's just all black. Went from flickering/flashing to black. I didn't have any kind of warranty on it or anything, and in addition to all of the other things about it that needed fixing, it seemed like it'd just be cheaper to get a new Macbook Pro.
My question is: How do I get all the stuff from the old laptop to the new laptop without having to use the old laptop's display? Is there a cable I can use to connect the two, and I can just access the old one from the new one?

FireWire between the two (get appropriate 800-800 or 400-800), Target Disk Mode on the old one, appears as an external disk on the new one. Drag everything over, or use Setup Assistant if first start of new one, or plain old Migration Assistant. You really don't need a display to see a prancing FireWire icon, do you?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1661
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4889
(with the added advantage that since you ain't booting anything off the drive, can turn the Mac on or off at will without risking data corruption on the drive)

  • I have a new iphone but I want it to be separate from my old iphone as far as what is on it. If I set it up as a different phone in itunes, can I still load songs and apps from my other phone onto my new phone?

I am trying to set up my new iphone but I don't want itunes to think it is my old phone. I would like to know how if I can set up my new phone so it is separate from my old one but still be able to load the songs and apps I want onto my new phone....is this possible?

Thanks. I messed up with my husbands iphone because I was told the wrong thing. Now everytime I sync his phone it makes it look just like the other phone I had. Do you know how I can fix taht for his phone? Any settings I can turn off that will prevent all of my apps/contacts, etc from auto populating his phone?

  • I have a new iMac - how do file share my music and photos from my old mac to my new mac?

I want to transfer my music and photos from one Mac to another - but I don't want to transfer anything else - what is the best way to do this?
    Thanks

the simplest way would be to connect the two Macs with a firewire cable, boot the source Mac in Target Disk Mode, and copy the entire iTunes folder (not just the iTunes music folder) from /users//music on the source to /users//music on the target (overwriting the iTunes folder in place there).
do the same with your iPhoto library. see this support article for more information (except, you won't have to option-launch iPhoto)

  • How can I transfer files from an old Mac onto my new one?

As outlined on this thread, I am trying to get data from my 1995 Performa 630 to my recently delivered MacBook Pro.  All suggestions gratefully received.
Also, are ClarisWorks files instantly readable by modern office software, or do I need to save in RTF or some other format, first, on the older machine?

    Hi...
Your new MacBookPro has Mac OS X Lion v10.7.x installed on an Intel processor and cannot open or read ClarisWorks files as such.
However, you may be able to reformat to RTF >  AppleWorks: Document Recovery Techniques
The issue is going to be migrating files since you can't use Migration Assistant to transfer files from another Mac

  • How do I install my cookies, passwords & permissions from my old PC onto my new one running Firefox 4.0.1

I am migrating from my old XP PC to a new Windows 7 PC running Firefox 4.0.1.
I have managed (I think) to copy my cookies, passwords & permissions (i.e. cookies.sqlite, key3.db, etc) via an external HDD to the new PC and copied them into the Firefox profile on the new PC.
However when I launch a cookie dependent site, the cookie data does not appear.
How can I copy the data in successfully?
    Many thanks

Easiest I've found and used is MozBackup: http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/download.php
Download it, make a backup of your 4.0.1 then email the resulting .pcv file to yourself and save it to an easy to find spot, usually the desktop. Install MozBackup on the new computer, restore using the .pcv file you emailed to yourself.

  • How do i get all my apps and music from my old laptop onto my new one?

Could someone help me please? My laptop died i am unable to turn it on or anything. So i have brought a new laptop, i have installed i-tunes and authorised my laptop but none of my apps or other purchases have appeared in it. Can some please tell me how i can get all my apps, music and other stuff i had onto the i-tunes on my new laptop?

You can use your backup to populate the iTunes library on your new computer. If you havn't bothered maintaining a backup then apps can be re-downloaded from the app store for free (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519), but media (music/films/tv shows) can only be downloaded once from iTunes (which is one reason why you are advised to make a backup). Purchases made on the iPhone can be transferred off it via File > Transfer Purchases. It's possible, if you do a search on google, that you might find utilities that can help you copy the contents of your iPhone.
You will also find a search box on the right hand side of this window where you can search for similar threads to yours, and which might have more info in them.
