How do I hide the grey space between pages in a document?

I am still trying to learn Pages after using MS Word for many years and I am unable to find how to eliminate the space between pages in a document on screen. I should add that after reading a lot of reviews re: versions of Pages I ordered a CD of iWorks 09 as the concensus seemed to be that the earlier versions were much better than the most recent. Anyway, I would like to just see the text and nothing else as though it is just one very long page! How can I do that without updating to the current version of Pages?
I have a MB Pro running iWork 09 version 4.3 on Yosemite (up-to-date).

I guess i didn't explain myself well...I do not want to eliminate pages, I merely did not want to have all that wasted space (margins/footnotes/headers/grey) between the text I have on each page. It is merely for what I see on the screen - not elimination of the formatting/paging etc..
I have about a 15-20 page 'cheat sheet' that I have open frequently on the far right of my screen as I am working at my laptop which I refer to intermittently. I need to scroll thru pages to find what I am looking for and I just wanted to reclaim some real estate, so to speak. I don't want to change anything other than what I see on the screen - if I choose to print all or part of my 'cheat sheet' the format doesn't change and I can print whatever individual pages necessary! Actually I think there may still be a line showing a page break but no real 'space' between the pages.
Did this explanation help to further delineate what I am trying to do? and is it possible?

Pages (or Word, come to that) don't work like that, because the "page" is not fixed - it will vary depending on what content it has. A PDF has fixed pages, and you can rearrange the pages of a PDF in Preview by dragging thumbnails in the thumbnail drawer. If you want to rearrange content in your Pages document, you have to cut and paste the content to where you want it.

The script runs a text around an image, but the page always shows the grey box until the image and the java class files download. Is there any way that I can hide the grey java box until the java stuff is loaded then "reveal" the image. I have tried using a layer with the star background in it but the grey box still shows up. Any ideas you may have will be appreciated

I have found only one example in a book I own "Java 2 - The Complete Reference" by Shildt and Naughton. Essentially it has to be performed in the init() method:

The approach is to get the background painted ASAP and defer other class loading until after the Applet is up and running. Under IE there will still be some user feedback of the Applet loading (spinning globe, status line).
IMHO it is a lot of extra effort for little esthetic value.

Are you still using IOS 5 ? If so you could upgrade to IOS 7, it doesn't have blank weeks.

How do I clear the blank space between content and footer?

In the process of revising a Muse website, I deleted some content from one of the pages and revised the content that remained on the page. Now I have a blank area between the bottom of the revised content and the top of the footer, and I can't seem to get rid of the blank space. It doesn't appear that there are any text blocks or other images in that area, so I can't find any objects to delete. Help?
The website is currently published in a draft mode for client review. You can examine it at: http://page7creative.com/clients/coremove_jun2012draft/retreats.html. The page in question is the Retreats page. Restarting Muse made no difference. I work on the Mac platform.
Before I sent this post, I decided to try creating a new page, then copy/paste the content onto the new page, and save the Muse site under a different name. Lo and behold, the page (and the site) works like it should...without any extra space above the footer on that page. It would appear that something went astray when I deleted content on that page. I can use the new page to get the site working properly, but decided to go ahead and send this post so that you can look at the page code and perhaps see what is wrong that is causing the blank space...in case I ever run into this again.

There is a graphic at the bottom of the content area of the Retreats page that's been cropped to a size of zero width and 2 pixels in width.
Unfortunately, there's a bug with pointer tool drag selection (aka marque selection) that prevents it from selecting an item that has zero width or zero height. Therefore the easiest way to select this item to delete it is to select any other item on the page, then hit the tab key repeatedly to cycle through every item on the page. When you get to this item you should see a little pile of selection handles at the left edge of the third column and right at the bottom of the content area. The width and height will display as zero and 2. Delete this item and the page will resize to fit the remaining content.

         I have a ABAP ALV(reuse alv grid FM) report.
The last field in the ALV is "Description" which can contain data of size more than 130 chars.
Since the max field length in ALV grid is 130 chars hence I am splitting this field value whenever the field length is more than 130 chars.
After splitting I am generating duplicate rows but with different "Description" field values ( each contains the splitted values".
For example:
Name| City | Description                             |
Hari|HK    |Employee responsible for time management |
Hari|HK    |and issue resolution                     |
Now I want to hide the grid line between these two rows
and just for Description field.
In other words I want ALV to display like this:
Name| City | Description                             |

How can I acheive this?
Please provide some sample code.

In the likes of scrivener you can have a page with only what you are writing showing and the same goes for Ulysses.
Is it possible to get rid of the sidebar in ibooks author which I basically almost never need, as I am a novelist....

You can hide the glossary, format, and tool bars but you will always have the book outline on the left side. If that's not sufficient, I recommend that you create your content in a writing tool and import (copy/paste) the content in IBA when you are ready to format and layout you book.

This was not the exact solution for my problem but by misreading your instructions I accidentally found the answer. Just as simple as you suggest. I had already ensured the Crossfade was unchecked in iTunes. What had actually changed with the last software update was the settings on my ipod. I can't believe I never checked this before.
The solution:
ipod settings > Playback
Audio Crossfade = "Off"

Unforrtunately the status bar doesn't make any difference, however I have worked out that the bar does show when I go into full screen.
I would have thought it should also work when not in full screen - it certianly used to.

How do I paint accurate grey levels between 0-254 in an alpha or a greyscale image? Seems impossible ... Works in 5.5 .. not in CC. Bug?

So here's the thing . I need to be able to assign accurate shades of grey in an alpha channel as our code takes the value (between 0-244) and uses it to do its thing. I assumed this would be easy .. just choose your colour and paint .. but not so.
In an alpha channel, or even in a greyscale image, make a selection and fill it with RGB 6,6,6. Since there doesn't seem to be a way to get a greyscale pallette or input the value for Alpha this is th eonly way I can see to do it.
Now, using the info panel, check that it is indeed RGB 6,6,6. It is.
Now, make another selection and fill it with RGB 7,7,7. Check this with the info panel and ... its 6,6,6.
OK so now use levels or brightness to try to shift that 6,6,6 upto 7,7,7 ... check it with the eyedropper color sampler tool .
What you'll find is that the RGB value will go from 6,6,6 .. to 8,8,8 to 10,10,10 it's impossible to make it 7,7,7 or 9,9,9. Theres a whole bunch of other values that are also impossible.
If you do the above in any of the RGB channels themselves it will work fine .. its just the Alpha and in a greyscale image.
On a similar vein, on a regular layer, fill an area with you RGB 7,7,7, copy it and paste it into your alpha. Looks fine .. until you use levels to increase the contrast and you'll find that what was 7,7,7 is now a noise filled mixture of, I assume, 6,6,6 and 8,8,8.
( NB. As a note the above also happened in CS5 but in an old version of Photoshop 5.5 it works perfectly .. I can give the RGB 7,7,7 and the value thats painted is 7,7,7. Bring it into CC and its fine. So its just the creation of tones in CC that is wrong.
Also, it works fine if you edit the individual RGB channels .. you can get 6,6,6 AND 7,7,7 .. but as soon as you copy and paste it into the alpha . .the 7,7,7 reverts to 6,6,6 )
So
Q1 .. what am I doing wrong?
Q2 .. if 8bit alphas and greyscale images can have values ranging from 0-254 .. then how do I define the value I actually want? I can't use the K value as that's only a percentage so has fewer increments and there isn't a separate input for alpha value.
Q3 .. or put it more simply .. how do I set the grey value to a particular number, eg. 7

I don't know if these have anything to do with it but
the first is the color settings from CS5,
the second is the default from a demo install of CC14. I see the gamma tickbox but it doesn't refer to the alpha.
the thrid are the colour settings of PS 5.5. Note this is the one that gives the correct ( with respect to my expectations ) result

Numbers 3 is a complete rewrite of the application. This preference option hasn't (yet) been included, but N3 is very much a 'work in progress. A word to Apple via Provide Numbers Feedback asking to have this option included in Numbers 3 might be a useful step. You'll find Provide Numbers Feedback in the Numbers menu in Numbers.

How do I remove the white space from the bottom and side of my document? (I'm not talking about printing, just viewing it on the screen.) There are about 6 inches of white space at the bottom and at the right hand side. I don't like this. On a blank new spreadsheet it's triple that amount of white space.

The infinite canvas convention doesn't make a lot of sense for Numbers. When I'm viewing a spreadsheet and mistakenly scroll into white, empty space I think, "this is ridiculous - all of my content is fits on one screen. there's nothing over there."
A (relatively) infinite canvas is logical for Microsft Excel because it's one big table. There are 256(?) columns by default and hundreds of rows on a sheet - there are cells outside what a user is looking at to see. However, when viewing a Numbers spreadsheet with a single 10 column 10 row table that fits on the screen, there's nothing else on it to scroll to.
Numbers should distinguish between viewing a spreadsheet and editing one. When I'm just viewing, when there's no content outside the window it shouldn't scroll there. This window behavior is beyond annoying for Numbers on my iPad and iPhone.
(Adding user-defined canvas size setting to my view mode / edit mode thinking would probably be the most complete solution to this now that I think about it.)
Until now the way scrolling worked in Numbers has defied logic. Actually it still does lol. That said, thank you Yellowbox for providing a clear explanation. Much appreciated.

The Correct Space Between You And Your Monitors

Something that always crossed my mind was the space between your monitors and where you are seated. How far exactly are you supposed to be positioned from your speakers in order to read and hear correctly. Most producers would comment that people produce in all types of environments, headphone close rang monitors, far range monitors. But what exactly is the ideal space between you and your speakers? To look into this issued even more closely each speaker is designed differently, there for you cannot look at them all equal as far as performance is concerned.

I got mine at about 1-meter to 1.5-meters at my home studio
at the big studio i've got two pairs of monitors in there and they both 1.5 meters
other people will go as far as 3-meters, in your case get abit closer as you said before that your room is not acoustically treated there for sitting too far away will give you a mix of 50% of the speakers and 50% of the room
but you need 80% of the speakers and 20% of the room
ps: don't just leave this topic alone and start another one, because its annoying when people don't if you've been help or not and they keep trying to help you
and people also don't know if you are reading your post or your just using it as an amusement forum just for fun on your lunch breaks
