How Do I Install OS 9 Disc Drivers?

Greetings,
I need help with this, thanks for any and all assistance!
I have in front of me the second release (late 1999) Power Mac G4. It came with OS 9.0 installed and I have all of the original discs.
My mistake is that I did an erase and install of OS X Tiger without checking off the box to preserve OS 9 (I forgot the specific language). My reasoning was that the OS 9.0 installation was so completely borked that I couldn't even update it, I figured that it would be best to start from a clean disc. I also reasoned that the option for OS 9 (Classic) support would be inherent to the OS X installation and I could come back and enable it.
Now I can't reinstall OS 9 because the disc drivers are not on the disc, they were erased during the install. I read this information on a prior post on this forum.
I have the OS X installation disc running again, there are options and customizations for everything but nothing that I have seen anywhere to install OS 9 disc drivers or Classic support . . . . HELP!
So . . . . what now? This computer has to run Classic for much needed OS 9 applications. Now I can't even restore it to it's original state.
Any and all help would be very very appreciated!
Peace,
Gail

Limnos,
To reply:
"I don't think it is possible to retroactively install OS9 drivers."
I don't think so either, there is no option anywhere on the OS X Tiger disc that lets me chose anything to do with installing OS 9 or classic.
"Probably your best bet would be to copy all the data you want off the drive, then go back and erase the drive, this time making sure you click the option to install OS9 drivers."
I did this the first time that I installed Tiger, I saw the option to keep the OS 9 folder but since OS 9 was so completely screwed up on this computer I thought to do a complete fresh reinstall. I did not realize that the OS 9 disc drivers would only be available to me if OS 9 was ALREADY installed. Now that OS 9 is off the computer there is no option to install or keep OS 9 folders and/or Classic.
"You should then be able to install OS9 either from your original OS9 CDs or from "Classic" on Tiger."
There is no "Classic" on the retail Tiger install DVD unfortunately. I am not able to reinstall OS 9 because the installer does not "see" the hard drive and so does not recognize a location to install to. That began my search in the forum for a way to install OS 9 drivers so that I can reinstall OS 9.
What a mess

how do I install dell v305 print drivers on my new macbook pro?

Dell's drivers are only for Windows. If you can find out who makes the printer and what model it is, then you may be able to find OS X drivers for it. Or you can see how well it works using the Generic driver.

  • How do i install the windows 7 drivers without the Mac OS X Disk?

I have successfully installed Windows 7 via bootcamp, but I do not have the Mac OS X install disk.  Is there anywhere I can download the drivers from?

    Hi,
sorry to say but you need the OSX Install DVD for the BootCamp Driver installation.
The 3.0 version of the BootCamp Drivers is only avaiable on the disc.
Later updates (3.1 and 3.2) can be downloaded from Apples Support website.
Call Apple and ask for a replacement and they usually send you one for a small fee.
And have the Serial-Number of your Mac at hand when calling.
And since the OSX Install DVD can also be vital for maintenance and repair it is best to have one.
    Regards

  • How do I install CS2 from discs so I can update to CS3

I have a mac pro, I have CS2 discs and have the serial numbers for an update to CS3 however I cannot install CS2 on my mac pro.
I am also frustrated that no matter what I do I cannot get in contact with Adobe.

CS2 will not install on modern Intel-based Macs. It is written for PowerPC based Macs only.
That being said, you don't need to install CS2 in order to install your CS3 upgrade.
Just install CS3, enter your CS3 upgrade serial number then enter a valid CS2 serial number.
If your CS2 serial number is not accepted, try using the one published by Adobe at this link

I have a Airport Extreme - 802.11n  and I'm trying to install it -- but I don't have the disc.  Any help would be so appreciated.

You don't need the disk, you can download and install the application that you need.
If you are using Windows 7, the link for the software is just below.  Otherwise, post back to let us know what operating system your computer is using.

  • How do I install from a disc?

I just got my first Macbook and some of my manuals from work come on a disk and I don't know how to get the info from a disk to the harddrive. Also how do I run other apps from a disk? I put the disk in but it doesn't auto run to load any info on the computer.

Sometimes manuals are integral with the help of a particular application. If so, I can't be certain, the app would need to be installed. Otherwise they are usually pdf documents or less likely text documents. Some may be html documents.
In these latter cases the idea is to find the manual on the disk. It may be in a holdall folder called (say) 'Documentation' or it may not. Look for pdf files on the install disk. You can then transfer using drag and drop. The same with html files. It is possible with the latter that the html file proper which organises the pages is separate from the graphic and text files. The latter may be in a folder. You need both.
If you have problems finding the files on the disk try the web site making sure you have the right version of the application or hardware product. I keep most manuals in a 'docked' folder in the 'shared' user but not all. That way they are available to all. If as may be the case they are in a folder put in 'Applications' by the apps installer they are then also available to all users. I prefer a specific common folder.
I you have the manuals all on one disk you can simply copy that disk to a folder in 'shared', drag the icon for said folder to the dock and Q.E.D.

  • HT4818 how do you install the windows 7 drivers for a mac os x 10.8.2?

I have this question because the instructions say you need to use the CD/DVD included in the box my macbook pro came in... but mine did not come with any CD... so where can I find it?

When you start Boot Camp Assistant one of the first menu items is to download the Windows Support software. Did you do this step?
The instructions you read and are referring to are for Snow Leopard and older computers that came with an operating system DVD.
You should also visit the Boot Camp forum where your question has been answered many times. https://discussions.apple.com/community/windows_software/boot_camp

  • How can I install Mac Mini drivers for Windows 7 32-bit if I didn't install Windows 7 using bootcamp?

Hello. I have a mac-mini (mid 2010) and with bootcamp, was successfully running XP.
I then decided to upgraded to Windows 7 had lots of trouble installing it on my existing bootcamp partition.
I finally was able to install Windows 7, by just booting off the CD and letting it install that way.
But reading more on it, I think I was supposed to use Bootcamp to do it for me...
I had thought the Bootcamp Assistant was for only fresh installs of a Windows O.S. where no partitiion existed previously.
I had a partition so thought Bootcamp wasn't required for my needs.
But now, inside Windows 7, I have 0 drivers installed. I have an AirPort Express, so on the Mac side, I downloaded
and installed the Windows version of AirPort Utility and copied it to my USB stick. Then
I exported my settings to a text file on a USB Stick, then on Windows was able to successfully install AirPort Utility and import the settings.
But it still doesn't find my network. I am pretty sure I'm broadcasting my SSID...
So I need to know the following:
    1) How to know I'm broadcasting my SSID - where do I find this in settings?
    2) How I can install my mac-mini drivers on Windows 7 so I can use my existing wireless network, now that I've gone through the installation without using Bootcamp?
    3) Do I need to set up network adapters and all that stuff in Windows 7 first? If so, how and what drivers do I need?
One other thing I tried was downloading Bootccamp 4.x and installing that on Windows 7 to see if it gives me the drivers that were supposed to be written to my USB stick if I had installed Windows 7 using Bootcamp in the first place... However I think the message it said was that it couldn't install as it was the wrong version. So I'm still stuck without drivers and therefore no internet.
And that is my main task - getting the Internet up and running in Windows 7.
    Other Info:
I'm running Mac OS X 10.6.8 with 2 GB of memory.
I installed the 32-bit version of Windows 7 and I don't know what version of Bootcamp I'm running...
I can tell you that BootCamp Assistant is v3.0.4, but don't know if that means Bootcamp is also 3.0.4.
    Hope you can help.
    Thanks.

I tried something that worked for me...
Knowing that after my install of Windows 7 wasn't the correct method (didn't go through bootcamp), and the BootCamp 4.x package wouldn't install under windows 7, I tried reinstalling Bootcamp 4.x in Windows 7 to see what the exact message was it gave me. The message said it couldn't install because of a 32-bit O.S. vs a 64-bit version of the package.
So that got me thinging - my XP version was 32-bit, and so is my Windows 7 installation. So I tried installing the bootcamp that came with my Mac OS X installation CD. This is bootcamp version 3.1.
Not only did it install, but it practically took care of everything driver-wise for me. I was then able to see my wireless network, enter my password and I was connected. The only thing else I had to do to get on the Internet was bring IE8 online (guess it ships offline by default). Firewall and Antivirus are now installed, just a few more things to go.
That's one thing that's just not clear that I'll be sure to note for next time... The Bootcamp packages you download are actually driver packages for Windows. That is where the Windows drivers exists that are necessary to make your Windows 7 PC work on a bootcamp partition!
I didn't need the AirPoirt Utility at all (at least, I never went into it).
Thanks VikingOSX for your post. I will not need to follow the steps you provided, but they may help someone else as all of these bootcamp issues I've been reading seem to be very unique per installation.
    Hopefully my solution helps others.

  • Installing ODBC and JDBC drivers

I have recently downloaded JDBC drivers from the Oracle driver download page.
    How do I install them?

JDBC drivers aren't generally "installed" in the standard sense. They're just JAR files-- you put them in your CLASSPATH and you're done.
For ODBC drivers, you need to install the Oracle client, then you can use the Oracle Universal Installer that's part of the client install to install the latest ODBC driver patchset.

  • How Do I Install Apple Drivers For Windows XP?

Okay, so I have a 15 inch mid 2012 MacBook Pro that is running OS X Mavericks. After many attempts, I managed to install Windows XP 32 bit as a secondary operating system on the HDD using Disk Utility. The only devices that Windows XP recognised upon the installation were the keyboard and the trackpad. I then inserted a Snow Leopard disc to install the Apple Drivers for Windows XP and it appeared as though the drivers got installed(the Boot Camp icon appeared on the taskbar next to the digital clock). However, when I restarted windows, none of the devices other than the keyboard and the trackpad worked. Does this imply that the drivers didn't get installed? If so, why is this and how can I install the drivers? If the drivers did get installed, why aren't the devices working? Please help me out, if possible. Thanks in advance.

It does not work because you are running Mavericks and trying to use non-Mavericks drivers for an operating system (XP) that is not support on your hardware or your operating system.

    Hi
New notebooks are offered without recovery discs but with HDD recovery option. How to install OS again using HDD recovery option you can find on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm
After finishing clean OS please create recovery discs using preinstalled Toshiba recovery disc creator. These discs can be used if HDD recovery option will not work for some reason.
