How do i keep my wife's iphone and mine separate when syncing?
my wife and i just bought 2 3Gs iphones yesterday. when i synced them, my account (the master account) had all my info on her phone as well as mine. how do i keep them separate? this is what i have i done so far.
-created family pack w/ mobile me and set up an account for her.
-synced her account (as well as mine) with the "cloud"
-synced both accounts in system prefs on MBP.
-i also set up an itunes account with her info on it and signed into it when i synced her iphone but still my apps show up on her iphone and vice versa.
any help would be great
we have a MacbookPro 2.53GHz C2D. we are running the latest version of itunes, iphone OS, and mac os 10.5.7.
when i synced her phone with itunes i signed into her itunes account. and when i synced mine i signed into my itunes account.
however, there is one user account on the MBP. i was told by the guys at apple store i didn't need to do this because all i really needed to do was to have 2 different itunes ID's/accounts.

Unless you want all your devices to be identical (same emails, contacts, calendars, photos in the stream, etc.) your wife should have her own account so she can keep emails, etc. as hers, not yours also.
With calendars, you can make some "sharable" so two user can share events, the other calendars are personal, for each user. Log into icloud.com, go to the calendar page, click small icon next to a listed calandar (click the Calendar button first if there is one) and select sharable.
As for itunes account - you can both share the same account for sharing music, apps etc. without having to re-buy them. -

Disable auto-syncing. Here’s how:
1. Before you plug the iPhone or iPod into the computer, go to iTunes.
2. On a Mac, go to the iTunes menu -> Preferences -> Devices.
On a PC, go to Edit -> Settings -> Devices
3. In the pop up window, look for the icon or tab that says Devices. Choose it.
4. Just below the box, you’ll see a checkbox reading "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically."
5. Check it and click OK at the bottom of the window.
Now when you plug the phone in it won't automatically star syncing. -
How can I keep iTunes on my PowerMac and my iBook in sync?

When I'm on the road with my iBook, sometimes I import a new CD to the Library and sometimes I change the playlists arround... Now I want to efficiently Sync the Changes to my PowerMac at home. This way I have a backup and also all my music and playlists when i work at my PowerMac at home.
Just Syncing the music files wont do because the playlists and the library aren't updtated. Is there a piece of software that will accomplish this task for me? (I assume there is one since it seems to me as if this is a common problem) I'm thinking of somtething like connecting both Machines to a Local Network, pushing a button to let them sync and -> done.
Also, as suggested in other threads, I cannot use an iPod as "transfer agent" because the nano just hasn't got enough space for all my music...
BTW... why isn't this just a feature of iTunes... MacOS X lets me sync a lot of things with a lot of devices... why not iTunes Music Files... They could make it in a way that only iTunes which have the same Music Store Authorization can synch... or somethin like that...I came on here today with the same questions! hope someone answers...
I also have been trying to back up my music on an external HD, but it doesn't copy the Purchased (from Apple) music into it, but keeps it on my main computer. I have to manually copy them out into a seperate folder to get them on both the external HD and my powerbook. I seem to be doing a lot of extra steps here and I hope there is something easier... -

This occurs if you are sharing the same Apple ID for imessages.
If you are receiving imessages intended for other devices you can fix this by going to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and do one of the following:
Uncheck the email address shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at" on both devices if they are iPhones; or
2. On one of the devices go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the Apple ID, sign out, then sign in with a different Apple ID. Note: you can continue to share an Apple ID for the iTunes & App store for purchasing if you wish; it does not need to be the same as the ID you use for iMessage, FaceTime, iCloud and other services. -
IPhone and iPad error when syncing with itunes
iTunes cannot sync my iPhone 4 or iPad air, iPhone produces unknown error (-50), and iPad produces unknown error (-54), cannot sync. This problem started in the past seven days. Neither device is Jailbroken, so I know that's not a cause, any help?
I was having this problem and there isn't a lot out there about it. But it seems to have gone away with iOS 7.1, which is nice.

I have been on the phone for Apple since 5:30 Eastern Time today. We are still on the phone with them. It is 10:14 PM. We are going to get a new phone because the ios6 has major problems! The wifi connectivity is a serious problem. Apple is aware of it. More people need to do something about it. I am willing to start a class action suit against them. I have means to an attorney pro bono. If you are having problems using your iphone 4 or 4s with wifi and ios6...I suggest you spend time calling a senior advisor and get a new phone sent to you. They know they messed up but they can't fix it. -

How do I set up two separate iTunes accounts on one MacBook Pro in order to manage the wife's iPhone and my iPhone (with separate info on each of course) ? Can this be done? A little step by step would be greatly appreciated; just short step by step though, I can follow fairly well.

How do I have my wife's iphone 4s upload pics to the same icloud I use for with my 4s and ipad? Can seem to change her icloud ID to match mine.
I can tell you how to do this but first wanted to be sure that's what you want to do. You would then be sharing the same iCloud account and any synced data (contacts, calendars, etc.) would then be merged and the merge data would appear on her phone and your iPad (i.e., you'll end up with each other's contacts on your phone). You would also both be backing up your devices to the same account, sharing the 5GB of free storage (assuming you're both backing up to iCloud).
There's an alternative setup that would allow her to set up your iCloud account on her phone as her primary account and just turn on photo stream in that account (allowing your to share you photo stream), then set up a secondary iCloud account on her phone that would sync her Mail, Notes, Contacts, Calendars and Reminders. She would still have to back up her phone to your account, as well as syncing Safari, Documents and Find My iPhone (all of which can only be done in the primary account). Also, her mail would be fetch, not push as push email is only supported in the primary account.
I suppose a third option is to leave things as they are and share you photos with each other using shared photo streams.

How are you importing photos? The photos (camera roll) from my wife's iPhone 5 syncs via wifi to my iPhoto account on the the laptop. This happens when she logs on to the laptop. We do not use the same Apple ID.
Like I said, I did this a couple years ago. I totally forgot how I did it and what method (iTunes settings?, Mac settings?, iPhone setting?) I utilized.
I was over at the forum which deals with iPhoto but they feel it is an iCloud issue.Understood.

Pretty much. I don't understand why you need to worry about MobileMe, though. I'd guess the vast majority of us with iDevices don't have MobileMe accounts at all. That's pretty much why it failed.

My iPhone is running out of storage. I want to delete a bunch of photos on my phone. I have iCloud. How do I delete photos from the iPhone and keep them on my computer? I need to free up storage as my phone will no longer take photos.
The only way you can do that is to import them into your library first, but you may have done that already.
The easiest way to tell is to select a photo from the photostream album in iPhoto and ctrl-click on it, if it gives you the option to import it isn't in your iPhoto library, if it offers you the option to show in library it has already been imorted.
