So what you do is research the name of the malware and confirm that it is for Windows and simply Trash the file.
Don't trash the file. Depending on the anti-virus software and what the file is, trashing it without checking with an expert is a bad idea. It could be a false positive that is an important part of the system (seen that many times). It could also be an e-mail message in Mail, and deleting it in the Finder or from some other app will corrupt the index of the mailbox that message is in as well as potentially leave it on the server, and it could end up getting downloaded back to the computer again.

Helpful Links Regarding Flashback Trojan and Virus Protection
An excellent link to read is Tom Reed's Mac Malware Guide.
A link to a great User Tip about the trojan: Flashback Trojan User Tip.
To check for the trojan: Anti Flashback Trojan 2.0.4.
A Google search can reveal a variety of alternatives on how the remove the trojan should your computer get infected. This can get you started. Or the preferred method is to use Apple's protection tool: Flashback Malware Removal Tool 1.0.
Or, open Software Update. If you do not have the Apple protection software installed it will download and install it via Software Update. If no update appears that means you either already have it installed or it isn't needed for your system. The software is only available for Leopard, Snow Leopard, and Lion versions of OS X.
Also see Apple's article About Flashback malware.
For general anti-virus protection I only recommend using ClamXav.

  • How do I add and remove mp3s from my iPhone?

I've forgotten again how to add and remove mp3s from my iPhone.  Can someone please remind me?  I am an iTunes subscriber using a PC running Windows 7 and iTunes 11.1.

Where are all these places, and how do I do it, step-by-step?  I really have zero understanding at all.  I know how to drag-and-drop mp3s onto my Sandisk mp3 player.  It's basically one-step.  I can't figure out how this is done in iTunes for an iPhone.
Make sure you have iTunes 11.1.1 installed on your computer.
Plug your iPhone into your computer.
Open iTunes. Create a new Playlist and name it whatever you want. I use iPhone Sync.
Go to your Music Library, click and drag the music you want into your new Playlist.
Click on your iPhone along the top right. Click on Music and select Sync Music and choose just the new Playlist.
Click on the Sync button on the bottom right of the iTunes screen.

  • How can I find and remove viruses from my mac

I fear that I might have a virus on my beloved macbook pro. i message was spassing out and not sending my messages, my folders continue to dissapear from my desktop causing me to restart finder (not a big deal just annoying) and some other out-of-place things are happening. I don't like credit cards so i can't buy any intvirus software so I was curious to know if there is a way to search for, find, and remove this potential virus on my own.

Apple provides and updates malware protection as part of the operating system functionality. There is no application you need to run. In using Macs in the corporate world and privately over the last 20+ years, the only malware that got into a Mac came from a shared MS Word document. That was in 1994.
Everytime that I chose to run a commercial or opensource anti-virus tool, a full sweep showed no infections.
There may be other systemic issues with your Mac that are the root cause for what you describe. As a baseline, I would do the following:
Run /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility. On your boot disk, choose First Aid, and verify/repair permissions.
Reboot your Mac. Immediately press and hold the shift key until a login screen appears. Enter your login name, your password, and before continuing, press and hold the shift key again, until your desktop reappears.
    Reboot normally.
What effect do the above have on the problems you mentioned?

  • How do I find and destroy malware on my MacBook Pro?

I Noticed pop ups happening on Netflix, googled it, got malware as an answer. How do I fix this? I have a MacBook pro from like three years ago, runnin 10.6.8 on it. Help? Easy, tried and true help. Will upgrading to maverick solve my problem? Like a Phoenix rising from the ashes?

Will upgrading to maverick solve my problem?
No. Generally speaking, upgrading OS X reveals problems that already exist, and it appears that you have a problem that needs to be addressed before contemplating an upgrade.
Go go the Safari menu > Preferences > Extensions. What, if any, Extensions are present?
Do the popups appear on other sites, or only Netflix's website?

  • How do you cut and paste files from a Macbook?

I am trying to cut (edit, select all, cut) and paste from a Macbook Pro, but when I try to paste into an external hard-drive, the paste function is greyed-out.  Command V doesn't even do anything.  How can I complete this simple task?  Thank you.

The hard drive is probably not Mac-writeable - likely it's NTFS (Windows) format.
If it's empty, you can reformat it to Mac format using Disk Utility.
If it has files that you need and/or you don't want to reformat, you can try Paragon NTFS to allow you to write to the drive.

  • How do I add and remove music from iTunes in iPhone?

I've been having trouble with my phone memory (16gb) being used up by music. I recently change setting to have it covert higher bit songs to 128 kbps which seemed to help.
I just converted to new iOs 7 and it started downloading all music from iTunes in my laptop—which overfilled the memory again.
I tried to go to manual sync and now I cannot see how to add or remove any music (and can't see the bar at the botto of the summary page which should tell me how the memory space is being used and what is available.

I don't know. It seeme to disappear after I check that I would manually sync.

  • Moving pics location and removing images from iphoto

    Here is the basic breakdown.
    1. Imported pics from camera into iphoto.
    2. I want to remove some of the pics from iphoto.
    3. I do not want to use delete due to I want to burn/move a copy to CD or a different folder on my HD.
    4. I moved a couple for test purposes from my iphoto lib to my home folder.
    5. Reboot.
    6. In iphoto I can still see the photos in the smaller views. but when I try to full screen the photo I get an grey screen ?x type of thing.
I do not want the small pic either.
    Advice or direction?
    Thanks.
    T

    T Slap:
To add to Terence's suggestions I'd like to expand on:
    3. I do not want to use delete due to I want to burn/move a copy to CD or a different folder on my HD.
To copy those photos to another folder use the File->Export->File Export menu option. This will copy the files to the location of your choice.
To burn the photos to disk so that iPhoto can access them at a later date then use the method described by Terence. To burn just the jpg files to a disk without the iPhoto format use the Export route again to a folder on the desktop and then burn that folder via the Finder.
And do not take the warning about messing with files via the Finder lightly. As you found out it can really mess up the library.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
