How do I make a "cut out"?

Way back in Photoshop 5 there was an easy way to make a cut out and save that part of the picture as a new one.  How in the world do I do it with Photoshop Elements 9?  I know I did it before but can not remember how?
Thanks

Select what you want, then copy it (ctrl+C in windows, command+C on a mac), then File>New from Clipboard. If you want to remove it from the original photo instead of just copying it, use ctrl+X/Command+X instead.

    GB for iPad doesn't have volume automation, you'd need to import the project into GB on a Mac to create the fade with a volume curve.
    as an alt, finish your song and export the audio file, then import the audio file in an audio editor and create a volume fade with that:

    If your job and life depends on it, many consoles support ANSI escape characters; the problem is that they are ignored from System.out.
    It can be done with JNI:
    http://www.rgagnon.com/javadetails/java-0469.html
    on linux, the command would be "echo -e"
    Again, I say this if your job and life depends on it. It ain't pretty. (well, the colors are maybe; the code isn't.)

  • How many frames should I cut out each second to get a old film look?

    Hi,
    What is the general rule of thumb (if their is one) of how many frames should be cut every second to achieve a choppy old film look? Or maybe it's not every second? What do you guys do?

    you will get a more realistic look if you chop out frames manually
    dump the playhead arbitrarily on the time line insert a cut nudge the playhead either i or 2 frames on and cut again discard the frames and either leave the black or butt the clips up for a "skip".
    this really doesn't take long to do and is better than a predetermined sequence of chops made by a filter.
    CGM do a free filter for aged film to add the hairs, navel lint, boogers etc . .

  • I want to create a playlist on an old iPod Nano (I think it's from the second generation), but the computer it was originally linked to via iTunes died years ago.  How can I make a playlist out of existing songs on the iPod?

    Hello there,
    I have an old iPod nano which I think is from the second generation (model number A1199 if that helps) with software at the latest version it can accept, 1.1.3.  I wish to make a playlist out of the songs currently on the iPod, but I can't see any easy way to do that from the iPod itself.  The next logical thought is to do it through iTunes, but the iTunes that was originally synced to the iPod died several years ago now, so I can't access that to make a playlist through (it's a very old iPod).  I do have iTunes currently on this computer, but that's synced with my iPhone and stores different songs which I don't want to be mixed with those from the old iPod (due to the mostly nostalgic nature of the iPod songs).  Is there any way I can either create a new playlist from the iPod itself, or through iTunes without having to sync?  Also note that most of the songs on the old iPod were uploaded to iTunes from CDs and so aren't connected with any iTunes Login.
    Thanks for any help you can give.  Also, I sorta need to create this playlist ASAP so any advice you could give would be much appreciated
    ~Imamadmad

    The old iTunes library was lost with the old PC.  However, it all that music and content is still on your iPod there are many ways you can extract this content from the iPod and import it back into iTunes.
    Your iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time.  It will recognize the iTunes library on the new PC as a new library.  If you sync the iPod with this new library, all content will be erased from the iPod and replaced with what is in the new library.  So what you will want to do is copy everything from the iPod to your new iTunes library on your PC first.
    See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

    Unlikely... as these are user to user technical support forums.
    That being said, basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Work through each of these steps in succession.
    If the issue still occurs, take the device to Apple for evaluation.

  • How to make image cut-out seamless

    Hi everyone. I recently cut an image out and plonked it onto another background, but you can still see the white edge where I cut the image out. How do I get seamless blending of one image into another? A video link would really be helpful to actually watch how it's done. thank you very much.

    Here's a nifty trick...
    If the pic suits, use the wand to select the transparent background, then 'expand' the selection using 'select/modify/expand' by 1or 2 pixels, then 'feather' by same number and 'delete' that selected portion.
    Now put it on that background...
    That is the simplest version of the technique, you can tweak it but in principle, a soft edge will look 100% better, and you can even colour the fringe if you think about it.

  • How can I make Final cut pro 7 and Yosemite work?

    Hi dear Apple.
    I have this huge problem with Final cut pro 7 and Yosemite.
    I have tried to install it on a Mac book pro that has Yosemite but it doesn't work.
    I have an I mac with finalcut pro 7 working on Lion but I need to upgrade it to Yosemite to be able to use CC Adobe.
    I have a feature film worth 6,7 million SEK with Final cut pro 7 and I can't translate it to XML files to premiere cause it is in its last editing process. I get an error everytime I try. Also the last version of Fcp (X) ***** for a professional editor. So.. My only option is to finish this film in Fcp7.
    How can I use Yosemite and still be able to keep Fcp7?
    Please help me or do something about this issue soon. I bought fcp7 for 11000 SEK at the time that was quite expensive.

    Hi Meg the dog! Thanx for answering!
    I know it was left to die 4 years ago. I just think its ****** up.. I work with documentaries and it takes quite a while to finish. I have done one for 6 years now. If I had known that Fcp7 was left to die I would never had started to edit 6 years ago...
    I did try this recommended on the forum by another user:
    Go to the app location in finder, CTRL click on the app and choose [Show Package Contents]. A folder [Contents] appears, click on it and choose [MacOS]. You'll see a Unix executable. Double click, you'll start Terminal. At the same time fcp will launch. After fcp is launched, close terminal and confirm when asked. Now fcp is up and running. Close fcp and the next time, just open fcp the normal way. DONE!
    But it doesn't work for me. I can't launch fcp7.
    I have Fcp7 Installed on my I mac and I wonder if that will effect fcp7 if I upgrade to Yosemte?
    I tryed to export XML to work on premiere and this is what happends:
    Any recommendations? I am going crazy here..

  • How can we make consecutive left outer joins in Composite Provider?

    Hi,
    For the following design:
    Sales order and Delivery DSO's are unions on field Delivery Number.
    Invoice(Billing DSO) is having left outer join and joins with Sales Order DSO's based on the field Sales Order Number.
    Shipment DSO has left outer join, joins with Invoice DSO based on Delivery number.
    My doubt here in this composite provider design, is more than one consecutive left outer joins(in Invoice, shipment dso join) are allowed?
    Since this is possible in SAP ERP through writing abap codes, I came across that this kind of modelling is not possible in BW on  Hana through Composite provide kindly suggest how can we achieve this design in SAP BW On hana.

  • How do you make Robot type out a variable String?

    I don't know why I'm having an issue with this. I want the Robot class to type out a string one character at a time as if I were sitting at the keyboard and doing it myself. There will be many, variable strings to type. Here is what I tried to do and it fails miserably:
    private String myString = "example";
    // Loop for each character in the string
    for(int i=0; i<numChars; i++)
         // Get the current character
         myChar = myString.charAt(i);
         // Convert the character to a keycode
         myKC = (int)myChar;
         // Press the key, release the key
         myRobot.keyPress(myKC);
         myRobot.delay(10);
         myRobot.keyRelease(myKC);
    }When I run it, I get some unexpected output in the Notepad window I have open. Instead of it spelling out "example", it gives me something entirely different:
    e - instead of 'e', it gives me a '5'
    x - instead of 'x', it gives me nothing at all
    a - instead of 'a', it gives me a '1'
    m - instead of 'm', it gives me a '-'
    p - instead of 'p', 'F1' is triggered and the Notepad help window pops open
    l - instead of 'l', it gives me nothing at all
    e - instead of 'e', it gives me another '5'
    What am I doing wrong here? This was supposed to be easy...

    I don't see a keycode conversion here, keycodes for a to z are the same as ASCII, what I do see is an int conversion of what ever character set you have running on your computer. If I take your approach to conversion, then I get different codes on different keyboards/systems also. What I finally ended up doing is making a map for my keys and everything started working fine.
    For me, the problem expressed itself when I went from my Windows with MS-Keyboad to my Ubuntu with an earlier style MS-Keyboad. Character values and single character strings come out fine, but when I would try converting char to KeyCode as you have done, the results were not always what was desired. I've not looked into it to see what was actually causing the problem, ti was faster and easier just to make the map.

  • So, how do i make a career out of this?

    so i just recently made a dvd from scratch from start to finish with Adobe Production Premium CS4. and i erally enjoyed the authoring part (encore) and was wondering, what all is invollved in persuing a career in DVD/Blu-Ray Authorization? After i graduated highschool, i was pretty much decided to go into music production, but due to physical limitations of mine (mainly with my ears) it seems it may turn out to be more trouble than rewarding to persue that as a career. i had never even thought about DVD/Blu-Ray Authoring until i saw just how much was involved in the process, and it seemed liek a very enjoyable career to persue. so what all would be involved in this? is there a specific degree i should persue? or is it just one of those you got , you got it things, with no education available? and furtehrmore, is Encore the industry standard for this? or is there a more widespread program the big guys use? i'm just wndering what i should start checking out, asking for, and that kind of thing. thanks

    This is probably better suited for the DVD Lounge, but it does not see much traffic anymore. Were I one of the MOD's, I would probably move this to the Video Lounge, as video production and authoring go hand in hand. Just want to mention that, in case your post "goes missing." It'll probably be in the Video Lounge, which sees a lot more traffic, than the old DVD Lounge does.
    That said, here are some of my thoughts:
    Though I have several, I'm not sure that a degree program would be that beneficial, unless you were looking to join say a corporate production department.
    I would spend some time reading and studying outside of a formal academic framework.
    The first two books, that I can recommend are Jim Taylor's DVD Demystified. Here is an ARTICLE linking to his site. The next is Jeff Bellune's The Focal Easy Guide to Adobe Encore DVD 2.0, Focal Press, ISBN 0-240-52004-1. Do not let the name turn you off. Everything in that book will apply to Encore well beyond EncoreDVD 2.0. Learn everything in that book, and you will be on your way.
    Next, Designing DVD Menus, by Michael Burns & George Cairns, CMP Books, ISBN 1-57820-259-0, will give you some wonderful ideas on Menu design, and implementation. Many of the examples in it are from the music DVD industry, with productions for bands like U2 and Cold Play. it is not specific to any one authoring app, but is more general, with great ideas, tips and tricks.
    There are many applications for DVD/BD today, from the music industry, to corporate presentations, to Projects for the consumer who wants to present family albums, etc., and of course the motion picture industry. One of the areas, that is easiest to concentrate on, especially early in one's career, is the production of old VHS and home movies into DVD/BD discs to give to family members. This is bot a cottage-industry, as well as a more commercial endeavor. In Phoenix, there are several production houses that specialize in this. It has replaced the photo labs. A good start would be to offer your services to friends, or their families. Then, and with a "show reel" BD in your hand, you could approach some of the service providers, for employment.
    If you have any ties in the music industry, they would be useful, as emerging bands and musicians are using DVD/BD in place of the older "demo tapes." One contributor here, Neil Wilkes, works heavily in the music industry. A good day's reading would be to just pull up his replies in this forum and read. Lot of great technical info in those. I am sure that he would have some great tips for you, as well, if he drops by the thread. Another great contributor is Jeff Bellune (the above noted author). Jeff works in the video production industry, and will have some good input. Again, just reading his replies to many threads will be an education in its own right. When I first started with Encore, I spent about two days hers, just reading everything in the forum. Most of my questions were answered already. Though it does not read like a good novel, there is so much info here, that to ignore it would be a shame.
    Good luck, and hope that some of the others (mentioned, and not) drop by the thread.

  • How can I make a BufferedImage out of packed and non-packed int pixels?

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to turn a byte array of pixels into an int array, then into a buffered Image. In addition to the pixels, I've also got the color (and alpha) masks, width, height, and bit depth of the image. My problem is that the bits per pixel can change, the individual bytes cannot contain the pixels, and many times an int is not fully utilized to store an entire pixel (16bit pixels, for example). When I attempt to create a WritableRaster with a DataBufferInt, I get errors that I don't get if I re-package the 16bit pixels in a short[], (using DataBufferUShort). I don't want to have to do this, since it means reprocessing the entire array yet another time. One last thing. I've already got a working method for "up-converting" the int[] to 32bit pixels, though I'd love to see somebody else's attempt at this if they'd like to share. Mostly, I'm just looking for a way to use the data I have to create a BufferedImage that preserves the data type of the data. Here's some of the code I'm using now. (The byte array may contain MIPmaps, so that's the reason for the imgIndex...)
