How do I make a video project file size smaller so that I can burn to a dvd

I have made a 10 minute premiere elements 13 video which includes photos, video, music and narration. When I publish it the size is 14.9GB which is too large to burn onto a DVD. The size of the file seems extrodinarily large - is there a way to make the file smaller?

Thanks for the great news that you have sorted out your issues.
If it turned out that the Timeline Indicator stopped at 3 hour mark on the Timeline instead of the 10 minute mark, did you
inspect that 3 hour mark by expanding the Timeline with the -+ slider above the Timeline and inspecting that location for leftovers, fragments, clips that you dragged to the far right of the Timeline to get them out of the way, and the like? Often leftovers present as very thin black vertical lines scattered in the track(s). You need to delete them. When
the spot is cleaned up, then repeat the process until the Timeline Indicator ends at the end of your intended content.

What is the maximum file size for CSV that Excel can open ? (Excel 2013 64bit)

Before anyone jumps in, I am not talking about the maximum worksheet size of 1048576 rows by 16384 columns.
I have client whom has a 1.5 Gb CSV file, 1.9, 2.6, 5, 17 and 89 Gb file (Huge).
If I open the 1.5 Gb, the file opens (After waiting 5 minutes) and then a warning pops up that only the first 1048576 rows have loaded. That is fair enough.
If I try and open any of the others, Excel comes up to a blank worksheet. No errors. It just seems to ignore the file I tried to open. This happens from within Excel (File - open) or from double clicking the file in explorer.
Excel goes to this blank page almost imeadiatly. It does not even try to open the file.
If I try with Ms Access, I get a size warning and it refuses to load the file. (At least I get a warning)
I would have expected Excel to load at least the first 1048576 rows (If that is what there are in the file), and give an error.
The computer is more than capable (Xeon processors, 16 Gb ram, SSD hard disks top of the line HP Z820 power workstation).
With the 1.5 Gb file loaded to 1048576 rows, it uses 15% ram/pagefile. CPU's hit about 5%.
I have confirmed it is Win 7 64bit, Excel 64bit. I am fairly confident we are over the file size but without an error message, I don't know what to tell my client whom is looking to me for answers.
I have already discussed that the 89gb file in Excel is unreasonable and they are looking at a stat's package but I need an answer on these smaller files.
Anyone got any ides ?

The 1,048,576 rows & 16,384 columns is the
workbook size limitation in Excel 2013. Thus, I recommend we try the Mr. Bernie's suggestions to import the large CSV file.
1. Use VBA to read the file line by line and split/examine the import file in sections. If you have further question about the VBA, please post your question to the MSDN forum for Excel

What is the best resolution (1080, 720?) video and the best sound (PCM/AAC, bit, and kHz) that I can burn onto a DVD after creating in iMovie?

I have a Zoom HD Q3 video camera that also records good sound. An Apple Genius once told me that a DVD can only reproduce a certain level of quality in video and sound just like a CD can only produce a certain level of sound quality. For instance you can't burn true high definition video onto a DVD. You would need a Blue Ray Disc. But I forgot the specific data that the Genius shared with me. If my end goal is to make a DVD of my band performing, it doesn't make sense to record in a higher quality that I'm capable of reproducing on a DVD. Can I shoot 1080 or 720 (30 ore 60 fps)? My sound options are first PCM or AAC format, then PCM has a sample rate of 44.1, 48, or 96 kHz, and choice of 16 or 24 bit length. The AAC format has only one sample rate of 48 kHz but a bit rate choice ranging from 160, 192, 224, 256 or 320 kbps. Yikes. I'm not a sound engineer but I know this camera probably offers me a higher quality in both video and sound than the DVD can reproduce.
Of course, I have this same question with my Sony video camera. I can shoot AVCHD or MP4. iPhoto can't even import AVCHD so that question was answered for me but do I shoot MP4 12M 1440x1080 or do I shoot MP4 6M 12180x720? My end goal is always to burn a DVD. I don't understand what any of the above values mean in both paragraphs and don't necessarily need to know other than which to choose if making a DVD is my final goal. Thank you.

This is the forum for iOS (iPads and iPhones).
But I can answer your question; DVD scan only be SD.
Which in PAL land is 720 x 576 pixels (which can be stretched 16:9 anamorphic).
And is 720 x 480 in NTSC.
If you shoot in a higher quality then you will have a sharper image in the final DVD, but it will only be SD in the final encode.
iPhoto is a photo app, so no it can't import AVCHD; iMovie Mac can.
I will see if I can get this question moved to the correct forum so you get more answers.

Drag the photo to your project timeline. Now drag the sound file directly onto the photo thumbnails - a green bar will appear under the thumbnails. You can drag this bar back and forwards to correctly position it.
Double-click on the photo to open the Inspector and change the duration to the length of your sound file. Finally, drag the end of the sound file to the end of the photo thumbnails, so that the full sound file plays in the project. Change the photo duration again if necessary.
If you click on the icon to the left of the Project thumbnail slider, the sound file waveforms will appear within the green bar. You can drag fade markers inwards at either end of the waveforms to create a fade in or fade out effect.

NOTE: I'm assuming that you are using iMovie '11, although similar procedures apply to iMovie '08 and '09 (with the main exception being waveforms).

how do I make 1 video file play alone or as part of a sequence of videos and only have it on the disc once.
My problem is that I am short of space on my disc due to the amount of content, and all of the files appear separately on the menu to play invividualy, but i would like to have a play all function aswell without putting the files on the disc twicew. Am I being an idiot? Is this easy to solve?

How do I move a video project from Encore to AIR via Flash Builder?

I've got a rather complex video project with lots of submenus (that works as a DVD - so it is "debugged") that I need to be able to export from Encore into an app to upload on the iTunes store and Android Market. So far, I've managed to export the project via Encore's Flash output and test the results using a web browser (it works). Everything got saved in a new folder structure with an index.html file pointing to the flashdvd.swf file pointing to the AuthoredContent.xml file that actually holds all the information on the file structure (there are 99 files in the Sources subfolder) and uses the default generated Theme.xml file.
What I need to do is to somehow import all this into Flash Builder as a project so it can become the source for the various "app" platforms. My questions are:
1. I've got Flash Builder 4.5 - do I need to upgrade to 4.7 in order to import the project or can this be done in 4.5?
2. Is there some intermediate step that I'm missing?
3. Will Flash Builder be able to repackage all these files into the file specs required by each target platform (I'm assuming it will - is that a valid assumption)?
And moving downstream a bit...
4. Since this is a video based project with over 200 megabytes of F4V content, how will the content arrive on the end user device? Will it have to be streamed or can it be downloaded? - this is a big issue should the app become popular and we be forced to maintain a streaming server somewhere. What about server sizing in such an event? For example: is there a way to estimate how much bandwidth is required per 1,000 instances?

What i want to know is very basic.
How do i take a video i see on either youTube or another side and put it either on my iPod (i guess via iTunes) or put it into a document or an email??
Do i copy some link? Copy what exactly? Do i click and drag something?
I think if i knew how to get a video to iTunes I could be able to sync it.
But i don't know the first thing, how to get a video onto iTunes, or email, or a document.

When your files are stored in the Creative Cloud, you can access them on your mobile device using Adobe Photoshop Touch, or on your desktop computer using Adobe Photoshop. Photoshop Touch can open files in the following formats: PSD*, PSDX, PNG, JPG, and GIF. And, with a free plug-in for Photoshop CS5, CS5.1, and CS6 you can open the PSDX files created by Photoshop Touch in Photoshop.
[Note: PSD files can only be opened via the Adobe Creative Cloud. The file is converted, layers are flattened to a single layer, and other info that is only supported in Photoshop is removed.]
Download the plug-in (if you have CS6, skip this section)
1. If you have CS5 and CS5.1, you are required to download a plug-in to be able to open your PSDX files in Photoshop. If you have CS6, you are not required to download the plug-in (it is native within the version). In a browser on your desktop computer, navigate to the Creative Cloud Homepage ( https://creative.adobe.com ). Open a Photoshop Touch file in Photoshop
1. On your desktop computer, launch a browser and navigate to the Creative Cloud website. When you are signed in, navigate to your Photoshop Touch file. Click to select the file.
2. Tap the download button in the top right corner.
3. When the download dialog button pops up, select PSD. Once the file has been downloaded, you can open in Photoshop (CS5, CS5.1, CS6) on your desktop.
4. When the file is opened in Photoshop, it displays its layers (Note: that if the file is dragged and dropped, and NOT downloaded, it will not display the layers).

Lightroom 5.3 should be able to open D600 RAW photos.
The problem is most likely that you used some version of Nikon software to transfer the photos to your computer. This interferes with Lightroom's ability to read the files. If the files are still on your camera card, use Lightroom to directly access them from the camera card. Haha yes i forgot that you may not be using Apples Mail. Lets try the export then file>export, then under the heading "format" click JPG. Then click "scale images no larger then:" in the width field type "800" then the height field should change by itself. Thats what i do for emailing, it's usually the best trade between quality & size, that should be small enough to email. Best wishes JAG
P.S. when you first click "scale images no larger then" what's already in the width height fields? thats your actual photo resolution.

Video clip file size

I want to start by saying that I am brand new to the Premiere Pro CS4 program and I am working on my very first project. I am making a documentary/movie about my grandfather.
I have a 2 hour video interview that I converted to an .avi file and want to use just parts of it. If I add the video into my "assets" and just use assorted clips or segments of that video here and there, does EACH one of those clips make up the completed file size or am I essentially inserting the WHOLE two hours EACH time I put in a 10-second clip of him.
It's because I am brand new to this that I am struggling with "completed file sizes" vs what's in my assets folder.
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Because you are new to the program, I'll throw in a bit more, regarding what Harm said.
PrPro is a non-destructive editing program. It only takes the data from your original AV file, and then does a database of things like where that file is stored on your system, and what you have done in the editing. Even though you are using the data from that file, the file itself, is NOT actually in PrPro. It resides where it was located, when you Imported it. Though PrPro has gathered a lot from it, the program still NEEDS that file, and would really like for it to stay exactly where it was, when you Imported. This means, that until you are 100% done with your Project, and have Exported the edited version to an AV file, please do not Move, Rename, or Delete that AV file. It will be necessary, until you are completely done. Now, if you Move it, or Rename it, PrPro will try to help you find it and re-link to it. If you Delete it, you are hosed. Do not Delete that file.
Since we're talking about Assets, and also the Project file (PRPROJ), this ARTICLE might be useful to help understand what is in the PRPROJ file and also what Save, etc. does, and does not do.
Here is a link to the PrPro-Wiki, where you will find many tutorials, and also FAQ's on how to do much in PrPro. I'd bookmark this site, and rely on it often.
I hope that the Project goes well, and if you have any questions, do not hesitate to post them here. You will get an answer and it will most likely be the best one, though it might not be quite so quick, as Harm was able to respond to this question.

Is there an easy way to determine what your project file size is before you burn to video. I have 1 hour 15 mins of video which should write Ok to a 4.7Gb dvd but adding the audio seems to take the whole project over the dvd file size limit. is this correct? and how do I find out what the total file size is on completionY

In iMovie, select your project then click on Share > Export Movie.
At the end of each row of the varying sizes there is an i - information button.
Place your cursor over this to see the file size.
In iDVD, once you have loaded your project, click on Project > Project Info.
Here you will see the duration and file size and how it fits onto the disc in 'Capacity'.
I would advise you (in this window) to bump the Encoding up to 'Professional Quality'.

(Note: You will generally only see the arrangement option in Displays when you are configured to use the external display in Extended Desktop mode; there is no arrangement in Mirroring as both screens are showing the same image.)

QuickTime Player is not itself able to do this. You need a proper DVD authoring solution such as Apple's iDVD.
