How do I make an iPad or iPod touch only allow access to one App? I need to create a one application device for a child.
I need to lock the iPad or Itouch down so only one application is running or available to start. One, for ease of use by a 3 year old and two, in order to make the use of the iPad as an AAC device allowable in a classroom setting. There is concern that the other games, etc will be a distraction.

As above, you will get the apps for free.
I strongly suggest that you buy your refurb ipad directly from the Apple online refurb store. We bought two last Summer - 2012. They have been great.
We haven't bought itouches refurbed, so not on top of their deals.
All refurbed ipads come with a brand new front and back cover, a brand new battery and a full one year warranty, including the 90 days of phone support. They come in a box and include the charger, just like a brand new ipad. It just says refurbished near the bottom of he box. If you buy from other retailers, even authorized resellers, their own rules apply and they will not have been refurbished by Apple. Also, in most cases, you only get the remainder of the warranty that the original owner did not use.
The great thing is you might consider increasing your gb space for still less than the cost of a new one. They are a bargain right now.
If you decide on what you want, check the certified refurb store and order it fast. Because they are on the site when available, they can come and go. Some are back the same day and some can take weeks. Shipping is fast and free in the USA.
After the intro of the ipad Air, the ipad 4 refurbed price came down another $30.00. I don't expect that to change anytime soon.

You can sync as many ipods/iphones/ipods as you like to one computer/library.

Apps, OS, user storage for Safari means you have less than 8GB for user files.

16 GB ipod touch only holds 9 pages of apps?
I have plenty of memory available. How come only nine pages are accessible? There is plenty of room for more dots going side to side across the screen.
Also, is there any way to avoid losing the apps from page nine that get squeezed off the side and into the page ten that doesn't exist? I have to do a reset on the ipod in order for them to come back from that strange place.
.Unfortunately that is the max for all ipod touches. As far as I know there is no way to avoid losing the icon if you go over the limit, other than to remove enough apps to go under the 9 pages.

Ipod touch 4G - keyboard access when updating apps
When going to update my apps a window pops up with my Apple ID and asks me for my password. When I click in the password box the keyboard does not appear making it impossible to input the password. Can anybody help?
First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely. Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again. -

I would like to transfer the apps and music from my computer to a new iPod touch that was previously owned by my brother. My previous iPod is lost or stolen. I also need to update it to 6.1, the highest allowable upgrade, which allows at least some of the older versions of some apps to work (such as Facebook, youtube).
