How do I make firefox start with previous session tabs open by default?

I basically want Frefox to start with the same tabs and URL locations as they were when I previously closed Firefox.

Click the Firefox menu button or Edit in the classic menu, then select Preferences, select the General tab, and under the Startup heading select "Show my windows and tabs from last time".

In windows 7, how do I make firefox start automatically when I turn on the pc

That worked, thanks. When I turn on the pc, I almost always go to the internet before anything else, so this eliminates one step. It doesn't seem to save any time, however, but it is easy. If anyone else wants to try this, it looks like it's very easy to undo if you change your mind.

Instead of it starting up with a dialogue box to select an existing or start a new document.

@Alley_Cat thanks for the ideas.
I turned off System Preferences > iCloud > Documents&Data - problem solved.
I'll use DropBox instead - it provides the options for a better experience. I hope Apple keep working on iCloud so that it doesn't go the way of Moble Me.

• When firefox starts, any previously saved tab loads...with dead links. I can't make a tab die and stay dead! It resurrects on firefox startup, like a ZOMBIE.

I made tabs long ago thinking that it would be easy to change them. Over time some of those links perished. But firefox won't allow me to kill a tab. Sure, I can close it as it is loading, but I have to do that every time at firefox startup.
I want to be able to add AND SUBTRACT tabs, AND MAKE THAT CHANGE STAY. But every time when firefox starts it tries to load tabs that have those dead links. I don't need school closing information from 2 years ago!!!!
That's what I get for treating tabs like bookmarks. Anyway, can you help me kill the zombies?

A few helpful hints:
1) Don't bump your post. Everyone here is a volunteer and if your answer is slow in coming it might mean the right person hasn't yet read the post, no one can figure it out, or the question is so vaguely stated no one knows what the problem is. I suspect the last possibility is the case here, which leads to
2) State your problem first, not what you did. When we know what the problem is then we can take in all the details. Speaking of details, if you don't know which details are important and which aren't, leave them out. We'll ask for the details we need.
If Snow Leopard can be installed on your computer you must have an Intel based Mac and having an Intel Mac means USB will boot your computer.
I suspect that your problem is software too but we won't know without a fresh install and I recommend that your erase the drive and start fresh. Install Snow Leopard, install your applications, then transfer your data. Since your problem, or at least part of it, appears to involve your personal account I'd recommend that you not transfer it via Migration Assistant. Kappy has written an excellent guide about how to manually transfer data. It was specifically written for migrating from a PPC to an Intel computer but the same idea applies here so the instructions are 100% valid. You'll find it here.

• Make firefox start with one tab using mozilla.cfg

i create new package for fire fox when start firefox it is open two tabs for same link
i need it to start with one tab i use the this in my mozilla.cfg :

<nowiki>defaultPref("startup.homepage_welcome_url", "https://portal.field.weightwatchers.ca/");
defaultPref("startup.homepage_override_url", "https://portal.field.weightwatchers.ca/");
defaultPref("browser.startup.homepage", "data:text/plain,browser.startup.homepage=https://portal.field.weightwatchers.ca/");</nowiki>

When do you want to see this page?
This only sets the default home page, so if users have change this setting then it won't have effect.
If you use pref() then you set this pref for the current session, but this will make it impossible to make changes that last across a session.
You also may want to set to open the Home page on startup (browser.startup.page = 1).

• How do I make Firefox start up when I start my computer?

Is there a way to have FF start automatically when I start my pc?
ty,
magvan

Personally, I use a Firefox preloading software that loads the Firefox program in the background without fully launching it. The
firefox.exe
process will continually run. This boosts the Firefox startup time.
@jscher2000
I am not sure if the startup folder method is still supported.
I was just going to have magvan add the
firefox.exe
as a scheduled task set to run on the computer's startup.

• How do I make firefox focus on the left tab by default after closing a tab?

In all Firefox versions before 3, when closing a tab, focus automatically goes to the tab to the left of the viewed tab. This was consistent with the way Firefox opened tabs, which was to the right.
For example: I have 3 tabs, ABC.
I'm currently viewing tab B, and open a new tab using a link.
Now I have tabs ABDC, with focus on D. Once I'm finished looking at D, I close tab D and should be viewing B again. Current settings eject me to tab C, which is unrelated.
Is there a way to revert this behavior?

Try Tabberwocky: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/14439

• Firefox restores my previous session everytime. How can I make it default to ONLY my homepage on start?

This problem began one day without changing any settings months ago. I have read all the tip,s tricks, and step-by-step instructions for these settings on the Firefox support forum, but without telling my PC to clear my history each time then it will start my previous session without fail. I want my history saved, I just don't want to have my previous session to be the the Firefox start up page. It's very irritating when I start Firefox up and have to go and close out five tabs as well as clicking the home button just to get to what I specified to be my home page. I'm very much distraught since I just read a question that was posted over 3 months ago with the exact same issue but with no solution. Anyway I appreciate anyone's help.
Please: no suggestions that would imply I never touched a computer. If it's the basics... I've already made the attempt.

Did you check if you have a user.js in Firefox profile folder that sets the browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once pref to true?
You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

In Windows 7, how to make Firefox start automatically when I turn on the computer. Note, I am asking how to do this with Windows 7, not xp, not vista.

You need to place a shortcut to open Firefox in the Start > Programs > Startup folder.
That is basically the same in all Windows versions.

• How can I make Thunderbird start auto with windows start-up

how can I make Thunderbird start auto with windows start-up

You can by placing a short cut in the windows startup folder, just like any other windows program.
However if you do you are likely to encounter problems as downloading mail while the anti virus is still loading and the network is busy announcing your machines arrival to the network ( which might be a network of one) and any of a dozen other program are loading is fraught with risk of timeouts and server disconnections as well as error messages that make little sense because they are about something that is still loading.
So the bottom line is sure you can, but if there are issues take it back out of there as a first step.
