How do I make WinIdows 8, New Itunes, and Nano 5th gen work together

iI am downloading library books,  WMA  to Overdrive, then transferring to iTunes/iPod Nano 5th gen.     Problem came when I got a new laptop w/ Windows 8 and installed the Overdrive & iTunes.     Overdrive now tries to transfer directly to my Apple Device ( the Nano 5th) and totally ignores Tunes.   If I look at
Windows Explorer, the book shows on the Nano  BUT when I try to see it on my Nano, it's not there.   Not in Albums, or in Audiobooks.   I'm ready to
scream.    Any ideas?

Hi there,
I would recommend taking a look at the article below. It goes over how to manually manage your content using iTunes 11.

Hope that helps,

I was working through the troubleshooter - looks like there is no driver for the nano.

  • Transfer audiobooks from "new" iTunes to Nano 7th gen

The "new" iTunes has me totally confused.  I have difficulty navigating within the program and in transferring and managing content on my iPad 4 and especially on my iPod Nano7.  I want to transfer audiobooks from my iTunes library to the Nano and can't seem to do so.  I never had this problem with previous versions of iTunes.  Is there a good guide or manual which covers the new iTunes, preferably including screenshots of the various screens within the program?

I did sync but nothing worked. What I did was since this computer had nothing I reinstalled itunes and sadly this time my itunes (obviously) was updated. I tried looking up how to transfer songs to iPhone but nothing worked meaning I made a playlist and tried to drop it into the iphone one, i tried to sync but it would cancle. help?

  • My itunes and iphone are not working together. all my software is up to date. what i can do? i need to manage my phone!!

I'm getting extremely frustrated with my iphone and mac.
i have the iphone 4, and the mac is leopard.
I plugged my phone it to manage my music, and a message popped up saying i needed software 10.6.8 or higher.
so i downloaded the 10.7. it's still not working!
i have very little space left on my phone and i need to manage everything.
    what do i do??
    someone please help!!!!

    We need clarification here.
Please don't just state version numbers, also state which software.  iTunes 10.7 requires OSX 10.6.8 or higher.  Leopard is OSX 10.5.8.  You have two alternatives right now.  One is to stay with Leopard for a while (ultimately you should upgrade) and install iTunes 10.6.3 which is the last version to work with Leopard.  This should work with iOS6 on an iPhone4.  The other is to call Apple and order OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and upgrade the computer to 10.6.8 which will allow you to run iTunes 10.7.  The caveat is we know nothing about which computer you run and if it even can run any system higher than Leopard.
    Here is iTunes 10.6.3
    iTunes 10.6.3 - http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1575
If you want to try upgrading:
Get more information about your computer. Go to the Apple in the upper left corner of any window, then "About this Mac" and "More Info..."  Copy and paste the information here, but omit the serial number and Hardware UUID (if present).  If it says something about Intel or Core Duo or Core 2 Duo in the processor you can upgrade to Snow Leopard (assuming you have sufficient RAM/"memory").  If it says PPC or PowerMac, you cannot.
Kappy 08/2012 post on upgrading to Snow Leopard, then Lion or Mountain Lion -  https://discussions.apple.com/message/19401628 - including how to get Snow Leopard and Lion since Apple removed them from the online store.
It would help when posting issues here if you would state exact error messages you see.  "It's still not working!" while a description of the situation does not speed us to a diagnosis of the underlying issue.

Yes, on the right side of the U.K. Apple Store homepage there will be an "Education Store." You can get something like 10% off, it seems.

  • Have iTunes version 10 .3 but do not understand cloud in iTunes 11.03 can someone explain it and also how do you find duplicates in new version and will the new version sync with my iPod Classic which I have had for 4 years

I have iTunes version 10.03 which I love but my iPad Apple mini has iOS 7 but I don't understand the new iTunes what is the cloud shown next to the music and how can I find duplicates can anyone help me navigate the new iTunes and will the new version sync with my iPod Classic which is 4 years old

The main differences between iTunes 11 and earlier versions are the loss of coverflow and ability to have multiple windows open.
In Windows, you can restore much of the look & feel of iTunes 10.7 with these shortcuts:
ALT to temporarily display the menu bar
CTRL+B to show or hide the menu bar
CTRL+S to show or hide the sidebar
CTRL+/ to show or hide the status bar (won't hide for me on Win XP)
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour
Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may let iTunes start up more quickly)
If you don't like having different coloured background & text in the Album (Grid) view use Edit > Preferences > General and untick Use custom colours for open albums, movies, etc.
With iTunes 11.0.3 and later you can enable artwork in the Songs view from View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) making it more like the old Album List view
View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) also contains options to change the sorting of grid based views
The cloud icons give you access to stream or download any qualifying past purchases that you don't currently have downloaded to the library.
Regarding duplicates, things haven't really changed. Apple's official advice is here... HT2905 - How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created.  If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin. Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed)
Yes, iTunes 11 will support your iPod classic.

  • Hi! I just bought a new iPhone and I was wondering how i can make sure all my pictures and music will be transfered from my old iPhone to my new one?

Hi! I just bought a new iPhone and I was wondering how i can make sure all my pictures and music will be transfered from my old iPhone to my new one?

Pictures are held in the iPhone backup. If you backup the old device just prior to the activation of the new one, then restore from that backup, the photos will be there. Music is in iTunes on the computer and when you do the restore, it will download the music from iTunes to the device during the restore. Make sure any music purchased on the iPhone that has not been transfered to iTunes on the computer is done before beginning the restore.

You might consider itunes match for moving CDs you've copied into your itunes library if you dont have a way to use home sharing.
iTunes match is an optional service offered by apple that costs about $25 a year.  It scans your music library and if it finds music that is already in apple's itunes catalog it'll automatically "unlock"/"store" these in the cloud for you.  Items that it does not find in the catalog it'll upload and store these in the cloud for you and you can download them on your devices.  See http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/

  • Trying to make a purchase on itunes and keep getting prompted to verify account information, when I do that, it says to fix errors, then to contact apple support, any ideas or know how to fix this?

Trying to make a purchase on itunes and keep getting prompted to verify account information.  I've done this and when i click done, it says to fix errors; i repeat the process then it says to contact apple support.  Any ideas or other experiences with this?  I've had this happen before and it got resolved after i called them and it took a few days, not very convenient.  The same thing happened when I was just trying to update my account info with a new billing / account address.
    Thanks

You will need to do what it says, contact iTunes Support. These are user-to-user support forums, if you thought you were contacting Apple by posting here. Go here:

Right click on your device in the device list and choose "transfer purchses" to copy all music bought in iTunes to your new iTunes library.
For all other media you'll have to use 3rd party software, examples are mentioned in this thread:

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod/iphone/ipad:  File>Transfer Purchases
