How do I open a PDF file? It saves it then will not open goes to word then looks like a bunch of symbols

Whenever I try to open a PDF file .. your program saves the file but then I do not know which program to use to open it. I'm using windows 2000. When I click on browse what program do I need to make the file open. It comes up in word as a bunch of symbols. Previously with internet exploxer I just clicked on the link and the doc opened.

In reference to the PDF question I meant when I was using windows exploer internet in the past the PDF file would open automatically. With Fox Fire it saves my file but then will not open. I do not know what application.. program to use to open the file from the internet.

Mostly there is no repair possible, but just sometimes it is possible.
Open the file in Word. There will be lots of goggledegook.

You're going to have to give a bit more information.
What do you mean by "opening a file in library?" There is no function of Aperture to open files -- you can open (switch) libraries.
You'll have to be more specific about error messages, too. Perhaps some screenshots would be useful to diagnose your problem. "Can't open database with library name" is not enough detail about what Aperture is really telling you.

Premiere Element 13 The progress bar on the lower right for Indexing has frozen and when asking to open a video file in the organizer, Premiere does not open.

I can't really answer you first question. What has happened is: when I moved an mpg file from my assets to the movie (I have added already a mpg file in the first part of the movie) a message box appears telling me the file is being "indexed" and then this Indexing progress appears in lower right of screen and it processes up to 99% and then freezes. The file appears in the time line, but the frame appears that says "media pending" and then nothing happens. I can go into the Widows media player and the mpg file plays okay, with audio. That is best I can tell you.
Though I did not say this earlier, when I try to open this mpg file from the Organizer, Premiere does not open.
My operating system is Windows 7 on a Dell computer with lots of ram and plenty of space on my hard drive.
Properties of movie file
These properties are the same as a file I already inserted in the timeline.

Thank you - that all makes sense. It is, indeed, exactly what I did when I upgraded.
I'm also writing this on the machine that crashed a few minutes ago (I posted the crash in another thread). I got back with a 'safe boot' - as I have done a few times before.
I've also de-installed little snitch (and then done a safe-boot & then re-boot ) since that seemed involved. I de-installed Adobe flash, since that seemed to be a problem - I then re-installed the later, apparently fixed, flash. The most recent crashes don't seeme to have a problem with flash any more.
I've posted the various ( generally different ) crashes. I also posted a summary of the similar lines that turn up in most of the crashes.
Unfortuantely, I'm actually trying to use the machine to meet some urgent deadlines and all this is not making it at all easy.
I had had great hopes for 10.7.2 - I thought that the crashes must be pretty common, so would have a common aetiology. There do seem to have been some fundamental changes to the file sytem and to the video interface (that seems to cause problems to brand new iMacs as well as to my 2009 iMac).

Version 4 is oh so old.
The IRS and many other providers of forms are using products like LIveCycle which require at least version 7.05.

I use 10.3.9 and I have no idea why yahoo mail stopped working today. I have firefox installed on my machine. BTW - firefox is able to serf the web without issues on all of my sites. I often wonder why apple wanted to build a browser, why not just use firefox and contribute to it's development for the mac environment?

You can link to a webpage or an email in Numbers-- that's it.
The best way I found to do this is to enable websharing on your machine (see this article if you are running 10.8: http://lowendmac.com/crews/12lc/web-sharing-mountain-lion.html)
You can then place your pdf files in the folder /Users/<your user name>/Sites/<somefolder>
Then link to this using the url "<your machine name>.local/~<your user name>/<somefolder>/<pdf Name>

No option in adobe reader 9.2 when opening a pdf file to "save as" a tiff file

Hi, I want to save a pdf file as a tiff file. I have Adobe Reader 9.2 and windows xp. In the Adobe website, it says I can export or convert a pdf file into different formats. However, when opening an existing pdf file, there isn't an option to export or "save as" in the Tools menu or in the Preferences under Edit. The reason I want to save a pdf file into a tiff file format is because when I use the program Microsoft Office Document Imaging to open a tiff file, it allows me the option to move selected pages & save it as a new file. In a pdf file, I have to save all the pages as one file & I don't necessarily want all the pages. My only other option is to print the selected pages I want from the adobe file document and then scan it into a tiff file but I would hate to use paper just for that purpose.

If Reader ISN'T in the list of prpgrams to open with, click "Browse"
In the "Browse window" go to C/Program files [or Program Files (x86)]/Adobe/Reader 11/Reader
Select "AcroRd32.exe" and click "Open"
Make sure "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" is checked and click "OK".

File associations of Adobe products will not open cross platform.

I have an computer that suddenly can only open an .PDF file in Acrobat, and not in Illustrator. We have art files that are in PDF format, and Purchase Orders that are in PDF format. We would just drag the icon over the software we wished to open the file. In this case Illustrator for the art file and Acrobat for the P.O. As of today, PDF's only open with Acrobat and that's it. I know it's probably a setting I'm forgetting. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

By doesn't open I mean, if you drag the file icon over the Illustrator icon, you get the circle with the slash. Meaning this software cannot open this file type. To simulate what we see, think of dragging a file icon over an unassociated program like an image file over word processor program. It will let you know you can't open this file with that software. As for opening the file, yes it will. We just tested it, and it will open the file. I guess the only issue is that dragging the file icon over the program icon suddenly will not work. It's beginning to look like this might be a computer issue. However the only programs affected are the Adobe software. This one is strange, never seen it. The computer is a Windows XP machine with CS5 on it. The artist is used to using a Mac so the drag and drop is second nature, plus she checks in our graphic files against the accompanying P.O. A large percentage of which are Adobe acrobat files. It's just one of those irritating work around issues she shouldn't have to do, and will not have time once our busy season starts. Phase One files shot with C1 4 will not open with ACR

Hi, files shot with Capture One 4 will not open with ACR nor DNG. Extension is set to .TIF but only the small preview opens. If I shoot with Capture One 3.7 - no problem. Any ideas ?
