How do I prevent iCloud from deleting my iTunes library?

I don't think it can do that. Only you can delete it.
Actually this article explains the process to upgrade your music very well.

How do I transfer songs from my daughters itunes library onto my ipod?  We both have itunes libraries on a single computer running Windows Vista

Your question has probaby been answered already because it was posted a month ago but anyways what you do is you plug your phone into your computer. Next you want to open iTunes and click on File. Then you go down to "Transfer Purchases from *your name* iPhone". Then just wait for it to sync and you should be good.

  • TS3899 How do I prevent mail from deleting on the server after deleting on the phone?

When I delete mail from my iphone when using apple mail, the e-mail deletes on my phone but remains on my computer.  When my co-worker deletes mail from her iphone it is getting deleted from her work computer (and the server).  I have compared settings on our phone and everything appears the same.  How do we stop mail from deleting from the server when she deletes mail from her phone?
    Thanks!

    POP or IMAP?
With POP, this is the conventional way to use it. You download messages and doing so deletes them. Alternatively you can arrange to leave copies on the server for other email clients to be able to see them. The setting to do this can be found under '''Tools|Account Settings|{select account}|Server Settings'''.
With IMAP, you're supposed to store messages on the server. If you want to remove them from the server, move them to the Local Folders account in Thunderbird.

  • **HELP**how to transfer "lost" music from computer to iTunes library

HELP *_Problem #1_* I deleted old files. Apparently I deleted too much. I restored the CDs from the recycle bin, but now I can't find where that music is located on my computer. *_Problem #2_* Once I find the music from the CDs how do I add it back into my iTunes library. (Problem is that I don't have some of the CDs anymore!!!)

When you locate the files you can put them into your library by hitting the file drop down menu and selecting Add file to library or add folder to library. You can then browse for the files and download them into itunes.

how do i transfer muusic from ipod to itunes library

You've posted to the iTunes Match forum which your question is not related to. However, these User Tips will help you:
Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive
For the future, keep in mind that an iPod is not a backup/storage device. It is designed to be strictly a playback device. It is up to you to backup your personal data, including music, to a local, external HDD.

  • How to transfer ring tones from old PC itunes library to new PC itunes library

I have upgraded my computer and am in the process of importing the music, apps, audiobooks, etc from my old computer & iTunes library to my new computer.  I am using the HomeShare feature to do the import and it has worked flawlessly for everything except ringtones.  When I access my ringtones in the old library, the "Import" button does NOT appear in the lower right hand corner like it does for music, apps, etc.  So, how then do I transfer my ringtone library from the old iTunes library to the new one???  Thanks for any and all help.

Unfortunately iTunes won't let you just "Copy" and "Paste" out of the library.  However, you can drag and drop files from your library into a USB drive and then drag and drop them from the USB drive into the new library.
This is not the best way to do it,
As dieselvdub noted, just copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder from old computer to /Music/ on new computer.
Then is is an exact duplicate of the old library (same ratings, artwork, playlists, date added, # plays, etc.), not just a new library with all content

  • How do I prevent icloud from overwriting my contacts when doing a restore backup from PC to iphone?

My icloud contact list is screwed up. I have my contact list in my PC backup. I've removed icloud from iphone AND changed apple ID and icloud ID, yet when I attempt to restore backup from PC to iphone, my correct contact list shows up momentarily, then reverts to the screwed up icloud contact list.
I understand that my PC backup is set to connect to icloud; however, one would think by removing the email address associated with apple or icloud that it would not be able to connect to icloud when I do a restore backup from PC to iphone. Yet each time I find icloud connected via my old email address after attempting the restore.
How do I fix this? This seems like an icloud bug, since it connects via my old email/ID.

The problem may be that the iphone is immediately syncing with icloud and losing the newly restored data.  You might turn off your router.  Once restored, turn off icloud on the device, turn on the router, then turn on the iphone.
(I'm going by memory on this, and that hasn't been too reliable lately.)

  • How do you prevent iPads from syncing with iTunes when managing a cart with Apple Configurator

I was able to finally stop ITunes from crashing after many days of searching n restarting my computer many times.
    a) First I went to this site ->http://forums.techarena.in/guides-tutorials/1119812.htm that showed me how to disable DPE. Please make sure that u have good virus...etc.. protection first before doing this. I have Avast Internet Security. RESTART UR COMPUTER..
    b) I then uninstall ITunes by following this site ->http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923      RESTART UR COMPUTER..
    c) I then downloaded a beta version of ITunes. I happen to download beta 7 before the final of 10.5 version came out. Installed it. After installing I click on it n it said somewhere along the line of "this ITune ver. expired" I checked in my Programs n Features n notice that QuickTime was installed w that beta version.
    d) Go online n download the final version of ITunes ->http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ ...... After u finish dling install that. After that's done connect your IPod, IPhone...etc... n click on ITunes, it should sync all the way.
I was finally able to sync all thru the steps insteading of it crashing on me midway. Hopefully this will work for you. Good luck !

  • How can I restore music from iPhone to iTunes Library?

iTunes deleted music (the proverbial !) in my iTunes library, however the music (I want it in the library) still plays on my iPhone. I have repeatedly trying synching the iPhone (the music is still playing ok on the 3GS) but whenever I click on the song in iTunes library, I get the ! and "cannot locate song". How do I get the music on my iPhone back onto the iTunes Library? I tried synching iPhone but still ! in iTunes. This just happened the other day when I opened iTunes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Len

If you have back up your music, you can restore from the backup.
To restore information from a backup, use one of the following methods after connecting your iOS device to the computer with which you normally sync:
Right-click (or Control-click) the device and choose Restore from Backup
If you have a new phone, you can connect to iTunes and it will prompt to restore from your backup
    Solution from Apple.com: ht1766
If you have no backup for your data on iPhone, iPhone data recovery software is your last shot! I used Wondershare iOS Data Recovery and it worked well, there are also other options available.

  • How can I transfer songs from Ipod to Itunes library?

I recently lost my entire Itunes library but still had songs on my Ipod. Now when I try to rebuild my library by transferring songs FROM my Ipod TO the Itunes library, I am unable to. There are a million help subjects of how to transfer your songs from the library to the ipod but none about how to transfer them back and I can't figure it out. Please help!

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. The transfer of content sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

    iPodCopy Mac and Windows
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • How can i use icloud to synch my itunes library with my samsung android phone?

I want to sync my iTunes Library. MP3 files with my Samsung Intercept Android smartphone. Unfortunately, my HP laptop does not recognize my device when connected via USB cable, or when trying to sync via wireless networking applications from the Android Marketplace.  Any solutions or links to best resources would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.
My computer system hardware:                   HP Pavilion dv4 Notebook PC,
                                            Processor:                 Intel Duo-Core CPU T6400 @ 2.00 GHz
                                            Memory/RAM:        4 GB
Operating System:   Windows Vista Home Premium, Service Pack 2
                                                                                64 bit
Device to synch:    Samsung Intercept Android Smartphone
also using SansDisk 8 GB micro SD removable media card
Wireless Carrier:    Virgin Mobile USA (running on the Sprint Wireless Network)

So I have iTunes Accounts set up, iCloud enabled and iMatch rolling. Got my library matched (well, vast majority, like many others I do have some songs that have no reason to be 'inelligible' but are not uploading. Don't lecture me on the "rights". I'm a musician with 100s of songs in my library I wrote and recorded. iTunes uploaded about 80% of them. remaining 20% iMatch says are inelligible. BS. its a bug.)
Upon turning on iCloud on my iPhones, I lost the ability to tell iTunes which playlists I want on my iPhone. Instead, I am told to download "songs" from my cloud. Annoying as that's a lot of songs to wade through again. And I have cool smart lists created to auto-sync stuff to taste. Fine.
I go to my playlist and there are no songs at all on myiPhone, even after going to settings (good luck finding that tip!) and enabling viewing "all songs" so I can see the cloud. No songs in playlists. I see all the songs if I go to an artist on the cloud and download it again. Then, back to playlist and just those songs are there!!
There is one playlist that enabled me to "download all" from my phone. Rest don't. Why????
Why can't I dictate playlists via iTunes as before?? When you have over 20,000 songs in your library, playlists are really, really important. It will take hours for me to cherry pick through the cloud to find the songs I want on my phone. The songs I already groomed via the power of iTunes.
Good idea here with iCloud, please help with the usability!!!

  • How do you transfer songs from ipod into itunes library

I have recently purchased an apple mac and am trying to transfer my songs (which I previously uploaded from CD's) to the itunes library but with no success.  does anyone know how to do this?  Thanks

Some of the information below is summarized by turingtest2 in the post at https://discussions.apple.com/message/18842615
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer is designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchased content.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only media purchased from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141 - dates from 2008 and some outdated information now.
Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide - http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/copying-music-from-ipod-to-co mputer/ - Information about use in disk mode pertains only to older model iPods.

  • How can I copy music from PC to iTunes Library?

I am trying to copy some music files I copied from original CDs to a pendrive since I do not have a Mac DVD player. I tried by selecting files from Finder and doing drag-and-drop into iTunes Library, but it did not work. So, what can I do?
    Thanks!

Let me get this straight. You took files ripped on a PC to a pen drive and tried dragging them to the iTunes library window?  That should work, but some things will depend upon the format of the files.  I would create an empty playlist window and drag the files to it. It is possible the files either never had or somehow lost their tag information and are not ending up in the library where you expect them to be.  What format files are these?  WAV doesn't preserve labels,

Not a good idea at all to only have info in one place.
You could try , at your risk, purchasing a third party program that may extract info ( not supported by Apple).
