How do I purchase the apps?
I have downloaded iTunes 7.6 and installed the 1.1.3 software on my touch but how do I buy the new apps for my touch? the page I get to only says "no thanks" and "remind me later"...
You can't jailbreak a 1.1.3 Touch nor can you downgrade to 1.1.1 or 1.1.2. Jailbreaking is breaking the TOS of these forums.
To get the apps, buying them when you have 1.1.3 is the only otion.

You cannot use the Japanese iTunes Store unless are physically present there and have a Japanese payment method. This applies even for free apps; you cannot get them from the Japanese iTunes Store if you are in the US.
If you are in Japan, you can set up a new iTunes Store account just to get free apps. See:

Read the steps carefully as the order in which you follow them is critical. Note that you can do this only when creating a new Apple ID. You cannot use an existing ID.
If you have moved to Japan and wish to change the country of your account permanently, you can contact the iTunes Store and ask them to clear your remaining balance. You will need to be able to provide a Japanese payment method, though.

I have FaceTime on my Macbook Pro but want to add it to my Mac Pro v. 10.6.8. Since I've previously purchased it in the app store, it won't allow me to purchase it again. Can I use the same app for both of my computers? If so, how do I access the app to download it?
If you upgrade to Lion it comes bundeled with it!
To get it on your Mac Pro just copy the aplication from the aplication folder on your MacBook. You can do this via a thumb drive or over a local network connection. -

Very very likely that tax is applicable and tax is more than $0.01. You need to add a payment method for the tax. If you add a credit card, the girft card balance will be used up first.

I know I'm not the only person experiencing this issue, but I can't find who else has a solution. Essentially, I've been buying Mac Apps over the past few years and using them frequently. Now the App Store exists. Awesome. But how do I get the App Store to understand that I have all those past purchases and serial numbers? I'd love to download the Apps through the App Store because it's a better system of downloading and updating apps, but that convenience isn't worth the extra $300-400 I'd spend re-downloading all those apps.
Does anyone have any advice or experience with a work around to this?
Thanks in advance.As Carolyn has told you, you cannot opt Apple apps that you have acquired from some other distribution stream into the MAS stream. Period. It does not work that way. It will not be working that way. And many folks have come here wanting it to work that way over the last seven months or so that the MAS has existed.
If your End User License Agreement does not allow you to install the apps that you have on your new Mac, then the only way to get it today for the new Mac is to buy it from the MAS. The MAS apps use a different type of DRM and there are no serial numbers involved, they are tied to your Apple ID. If you are not ready at this time to purchase apps from the MAS then I would remove the apps from any older Macs and install them on the new Mac to transfer your EULA there. Then when a major paid upgrade becomes available in the future opt that app into the MAS by buying it through the MAS. That should be the only way to get the app in the future, Apple no longer is issuing boxed apps, just currently selling off any of the surviving stock. -

There is nothing that you can do to get rid of the balance on your own. Contact iTunes Store Support and seek their assistance. I believe that they can reset your balance for you.

Press and hold any of the apps and after a couple of seconds or so they should start to shake. Then press the 'x' in the left corner to delete the ones that you don't want, and when you've finished deleting press the home button so as to stop the shaking. You cannot delete any of the Apple built-in apps e.g. Music/iPod, App Store, Game Centre etc. If you don't get the 'x' on any of the apps that you've downloaded then check that Settings > General > Restrictions > Deleting Apps isn't set 'off'

If you bought/paid for them in the Mac App Store, you would just need to sign in to the MAS with the Apple ID you used to purchase them, go to purchases, and click install.
As for the limited licensing that Bordy brought up, the TOS for the MAS states:
"Apps from the Mac App Store may be used on any Macs that you own or control for your personal use."
If you installed them from an iWork disc, just pop the disc back in and reinstall.

Open the App store app and check under Purchased. If there is a cloud icon (rather than Open), tap it and assuming you have a connection it should download.
If it will not download, you may have the App store set to only download when connected to WiFi (find a wifi signal, or change the settings: Settings app > Cellular > [look under Use Cellular Data for]
If the app shows Open (#1 above) it is likely on an alternate home screen. Swipe left-right on the home screen to expose these. -

You can sync an iPhone to only one computer. If you connect it to a different computer (or you have never connected it to a computer) it will delete all iTunes content on the phone and replace it with the iTunes content on the current computer. As Avis says, you can transfer your purchases to the computer you are about to sync to, but only if that computer is authorized to the same account that the content was downloaded under.
