How do I record screencapture with HD quality?

Hi,
I've been recording screen capture style videos with Captivate for over a year now, and my client is wanting so see better quality imagery.
I've tested every scenario for recording I can think of, including using my TV as a monitor.
The videos still don't seem to come out crisp. When I upload the mp4 videos to Vimeo I receive notifications telling me my video's data rate is low.
Does anyone have any advice for recording high definition crisp screens???? I'm lost here at what seems should be quite simple.

What you describe would be possible by recording your video, then removing the audio from it and adding audio from GarageBand once the video is in iMovie (I presume here that you are using iMovie for your video production. Other applications may need different methods.)

Does anyone know how I can record continuously with my Ipod Touch 5g?

Hello everyone, I'm trying to make my ipod touch as a dash cam for my daily drive. I wanted to my ipod to atleast record for 40 minutes while driving, but it keeps stopping using the regular camera app. Even with dash cam apps, they still give me problems, or they are set to certain recording time. Your help is greatly appreciated.

How can I record narration with no video or beyond the end of my video in iMovie?

I have a question about recording narration in iMovie.
I wrote a script to read as the narration for a movie I'm making. My thought was I could record the narration first, then add video to match the spoken words.
I've done this before in Sony Vegas on my PC and it worked out well, better than trying to speak to what was going on in the video after I record the video.
Unfortunately, if I try to record narration in iMovie without any video being there yet, it won't record. It appears I need to put a video clip on the timeline first.
If I put a short clip in and try to record narration beyond the end of it, iMovie quits recording at the end of the video clip.
So I went to quicktime and recorded my narration there and have 10 audio files (since I just don't seem to be able to read this whole script without making mistakes).
I then tried to add all 10 to my movie and I think it made me add a video clip first, but after I did, iMovie overlayed all 10 audio files on top of each other.
If I try to drag them over one at a time, I still can't get them to go sequentially unless I add more video to my movie.
There must be a way to add audio files or create narration without having to create a video file longer than your audio first. Isn't there?
I just can't seem to find a way to get the audio files layed out one after another without more video. Very frustrating.
At this point, I really want to know how to add audio files beyond the end of my video since I have them all recorded.
But I'd also like to know how to record narration beyond the end of the video too for future projects.

You could insert a bunch of placeholders in the timeline before doing the voiceover.
You can find a range of placeholders (they are actually templates used in iMovie Trailers) in the Maps, Backgrounds & Animatics browser. This is the last browser at the end of the centre toolbar, after the Titles and Transitions browsers. Click on it and scroll down to see all the animatics (aka placholders or templates). Drag a number of these into your project timeline - as many as you think you need to cover your audio.
When you've finished the voiceover, drag photos directly onto the animatics and select Replace from the pop-up menu. Adjust the timing by using the Inspector (double-click a photo to open the Inspector, then change the duration).

How to create small PDFs with reasonable quality images?

Help me Obiwan Adobe!
There seem to be several utilities around the web that claim to do this, but I figured I'd ask the experts first. There must be some sort of step by step technique outlined somewhere that enables you to create PDFs that have reasonable image quality but don't come with such extreme weight that they can't be emailed.
I have seen suggestions ranging from using the Print to PDF function in InDesign (sometimes that works, sometimes not), to exporting out of InDesign using the PDF/X1a preset (used to work ok, but now does not seem to crunch the files down as much as they used to) to adjusting preferences to a lower screen resolution—not in the export or save as dialog box—then saving as reduced size. I've tried almost every technique I have seen but to no avail.
So I assume there is something I am missing. In builiding an InDesign file that you want to severely compress, is it better to use JPEGs or other PDFs or something else for placed images?
I know it is alot to ask, and clearly native Acrobat functions are not much help, but I have several uses for this. I do a lot of book design and prefer to send drafts to clients that are at least good enough for them to look at without fuzzy images. I also would like to put together a portfolio PDF document that does not require sending through FTP. In fact most places that ask for my portfolio PDF want it smaller than 1.5 MB. That seems to be impossible.
So there you go. Somebody needs to write a book. In fact, if I get some good direction, maybe I'll do it.

A lot depends on the types of images you have and the resolution. You may be best adjusting the resolution first in InDesign and then creating the PDF. For the options in the export, you may have to ask in the ID forum since the export is an ID function. Printing to the Adobe PDF printer is the other that was suggested (I usually hear that the ID export is the best way to go, but I don't have ID to confirm). In printing to the Adobe PDF printer there are several options to consider -- one is the selection of the job settings to use. The default is Std that embeds all but the Adobe fonts and has a slightly lower graphics resolution than Press or Print settings. Also, in the advanced button of the Adobe PDF printer>layout (may vary with Acrobat version), select the Graphic>Print Quality and lower it. I use 300 dpi and several others recommend 600. The default is 1200 that is useless unless you are expecting folks to zoom to see fine details.
If you open the job settings Adobe PDF Settings>Default Settings (select one of the settings files - probably press or print, or try Std if you want) and check the graphic tab to see the resolution that will be used for the graphics. A combination of this resolution setting and the Print Quality should address your issues.

I would like to remove the sound originally recorded on my video clips with music on the hard disc.

I would just set audio on clip to zero and add the wanted audio. Either as backrgound or dropp audio file onto the Video-clip to get it to connect to this.

How do you record sound with Apple headphones Mac Pro?

(2008 Mac Pro) I'm trying to record a voice over on iMovie, and it won't record sound no matter what option I use for the sound input. I'm plugging my apple headphones into the headphone jack like I do on my MacBook (which works). I know that the Macbook has an in/out in one jack, but is it not the same for the Mac Pro? I've tried sticking the headphones in the back audio out where I can plug my stereo in and it wont even plug in. Also I know its not iMovie because Quicktime doesn't work with audio recording either.

The Mac Pro is not compatible with analog microphones. Its headphone jack is for output only. It does not work with headset microphones. Its audio in jack is line-level, so would need a pre-amp to work with most microphones.
The simplest solution is a USB headset or microphone.

How do I record vocals with an existing music soundtrack?

I have been asked to sing for a funeral tomorrow. It's my grandfather's funeral and it's just not possible emotionally for me to get through it. I am attempting to use a music soundtrack which I've purchased to record the song and vocals in GarageBand. For some reason the vocals don't record with the music and vice versa. Any help you can give is greatly appreciated. The service is tomorrow.

Check, if you have set any effects on your Master Track (Track menu > Show Master Track. Then click the Smart Controls icon. )
I started my sample project from an empty project to avoid any presets.
Check, if selecting a "Voice" patch for your vocal track will help. Select the track, then open the Library and try the different "Voice" patches. Perhaps "Classical Vocal" will sound good for the occasion.

How do you record music with new iMacs with no mini-plug input?

The new iMacs do not have a mini-plug input? I like to copy LPs using my Mac. Without a mini-plug input, how do I get the musc into the Mac?

Hi there
I'd be surprised if you were able to do that. The reason is that you would need the equivalent of using a Camcorder to film a movie segment and at the same time, record the Camcorder filming the segment. In other words, you would need a second Camcorder.
The good news here is that it should be pretty easy to fudge things with a dash of creativity. Just capture some screens of the recording dialog, then record the segment(s) and use a Red Highlight Box to simulate the Red Recording rectangle.

Recording audio with JavaFX

I was looking for advice on how best to record audio with JavaFX, as JMF is seriously out of date.

I think you'll have to do it via Java Sound API, because JavaFX itself doesn't have capability of recording audio. Maybe in version 1.3, but I have no access to it.

I tried to save FLV directly with custom-quality (Idea JPGEncoder).

I have completed a keynote presentation with music already. How do I record the slideshow so I can burn it to a DVD disc. I have tried to export it as a Quicktime file but the transitions have been slow that the music finishes first.

How can I convert the string to the record store, with multiple records? I mean I have a string like as below:

now I want to create a record store with three records in it for each i.e. SecA, SecB, SecC. So that I can retrieve them easily using enumerateRecord.

I'd not use multiple records for this case. Managing more records needs more and redundant effort.
Just use single record. Create ByteArrayOutputStream->DataOutputStream and put multiple strings via writeUTF() (plus any other data like number of records at the beginning...), then save the byte array to the record...
It's easier, it's faster (runtime), it's better manageable...

There are several way to do that, probably just as some guys wrote the easier way is to use LIKE in WHERE condition and the sign % instead of *:
V_STRING = '%ABC%'.
SELECT SINGLE objid FROM p1000 INTO p1000-objid,

U can also use a range (just like select-options):
RANGES: R_MC FOR P1000-MC_STEXT.
