  • How do i removal adware from a mac

adware seems to have taken over my computer.  how do i remove it?  does apple have any tools to do this?  overtime i use safari to identify a problem, i get some non-apple sites trying to sell me something.

Click here and follow the instructions, or if there’s a type of adware not covered by them on the computer, these ones. If you're willing to use a tool to remove it(you don't need to, but may find it easier), you can instead run Adware Medic; this link is a direct download.

    Hello Troy,
You can remove songs from your iPhone by swiping the song you wish to delete, then tapping 'Delete.'
Remove a song from iPhone. Tap Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.

  • How can I remove adware from my notebook?

I downloades a program that contains a virus adfinder, how cn I remove this?

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

  • How can I remove adware and other advertising on Safari running Yosemite 10.10.2 OS

I'm very happy with the improvement to the running of Safari (now 8.0.3) now I've installed the Yosemite OS (many thanks for the announcement, Apple), but I'm being plagued by tabs opening advertising continually, and finding what I understand is called adware on pages I'm using.
I've installed AdBlock (which worked well on my old operating system), but it seems to do little - or nothing like enough to make web use the pleasure it was.
Any suggestions as to how to prevent this making life miserable, I'd very much appreciate it - and "walking me through" any procedures would be great: I'm not an expert.
    Many thanks.

  • How do I remove un-used apps from iTunes?

My iPad apps are starting to take up a lot of space on my hard drive.  I noticed that my iTunes library contains a lot of apps that I've previously deleted from my iPad and no longer use.  Why are they still showing/sitting on my Windows hard drive?  There doesn't seem to be a way to tell which apps are being used (i.e., on my iPad) vs. those that are not on my iPad any more.  I want to remove the latter from iTunes.  Is possible?
I know you can simply delete an app from the iTunes library by right-clicking and hitting delete.  But I need a way to differentiate those that are NOT on my iPad.  There is no check mark or any other indications that I can see.
I tried searching for this but did not find any definitive answer.
    Thanks.

Unless I misundertand what you mean, no, that doesn't remove anything from your computer. That just hides the app from your Purchased list in the iTunes Store.
If you want to remove the app from your computer, locate the app in your iTunes library listing, right-click on it, and select "delete". Then you can prevent the app from being re-downloaded from the iTunes Store automatically either by hiding the app in the iTunes Store, per your previous suggestion, or turning off automatic downloading in the iTunes/Store preferences.
    Regards.

  • How do I erase hdd using Mavericks?

So I'm getting ready to sell my old Macbook Pro, it was running Snow leopard and I wanted to erase the hdd (so no one can steal anything) but I didn't have the Snow Leopard disk with me, so I decided to just upgrade it to Mavericks (it's free, so why not?) and hope that the Internet could help me from there. So how do I prep my computer for selling without leaving anything on the hdd?

These are the two discs that came with the computer when I bought it, I looked online a little bit to see how I boot from these (restarting with disc inserted and holding down "c") and nothing happened :/ Could it be that from OS X Mavericks it's not possible to boot from these? When I click on "Install Mac OS X" from the window that pops up, it says "PowerPC Applications are not supported"

  • I want to remove some photos from my iPad--but I don't want to remove them from my Mac. How do I remove photos using the iPad itself?

I want to remove a few photos from my iPad, but not from my Mac (from-to which I sync). Is this possible? I can get the "delete" button to show on the iPad, but it is not fully lit--i.e. pressing it does no good.

You can delete photos that you took on the pad, and photos that you imported from the camera connection kit right on the pad.  That delete button will work on those.
Photos that you synced from the mac get deleted by resyncing.  When you connect the pad, push the photos tab, uncheck sync all, and then select only the photos you want on the pad.   The mac acts like the master storage unit, and all the photos will stay there (unless you delete them in i photo) and copies are placed onto the pad.
Photos you take on the pad, by the way, dont get moved to the mac during a sync, you need to import them to iphoto.  While the pad is connected, open up i photo, and the pad will show up as a device on the left side.  You can select which pad photos you want to import.  Those photos are now part of the master copy on the mac, and can be synced back to the pad, or not, as you decide.

  • How do I remove photos using iTunes?

I've read several threads saying that the method for removing photos that were taken with a camera (not an iPhone) is through iTunes.
I tried two different methods and neither worked.
The first method was to go to the Photos page and unclick the Sync Photos From and then hit the Sync button at the bottom right.  The photos were not deleted.
The second method was to click the Sync Photos From box, select iPhoto and then make sure none of the Album or Event boxes are checked.  Then I hit Sync again.  This also did not work.
Please tell me what I am doing wrong.
    Thanks,
    Cliff

I also have this problem with my 4S.
I have 2GB of photos on my iphone that I need to remove to free up space but have been trying for weeks with no success.
Have tried the various methods with iTunes of unticking the various folders, or deselecting the whole lot, but no photos have been deleted. I don't get any message asking me if I want to remove them.
I tried synching the other way just with a couple of photos and found it will happily sync photos from my pc to my iphone but will not remove them when unselected in iTunes.
Does anyone know what is causing the issue?

  • I have a late 2008 Macbook Pro last updated to Mavericks OS.  The screen died and it's not worth replacing.  How do I remove the hard drive and use a drive sled to access info I need?

I have a late 2008 Macbook Pro last updated to the Mavericks OS.  The screen died and I took it into an Apple store and was told replacing the screen and the hardware to repair everything would cost almost as much as buying a new laptop or a cheaper model.  I was told that I can use a drive sled to access data I need on my hard drive. How do I remove my hard drive and use a drive sled to get to the information I need?  What makes matters more complicated is I need to update my iPhone and my iTunes/App store purchases.  How can I accomplish this?
My wife has a late 2008 Macbook Pro as well, which I am assuming I need to run my hard drive.  Is there a way to just access just my hard drive without interfering with hers?
I know this is lengthy.  Thanks to whoever looks at this and offers advice/instruction.

the device you need is an External enclosure for a 2.5" (laptop form factor) SATA drive.
A USB-interface enclosure will be slow, but is adequate for this task and for re-purposing as a backup drive later.  A firewire-interface drive would be faster, but is harder to find, more expensive, and faster than needed for this purpose.
The drive will mount as an "extra" drive on your wife's Macbook, and you can drag and drop whatever you wish. You could create a separate Account for yourself on her computer, and use Migration Assistant or just copy your stuff over to the new account. Then it would not interfere with her files.

  • When using Mavericks, how can I automatically replace 'i' with 'I' when typing?

When using Mavericks, how can I automatically replace 'i' with 'I' when typing?
It was easy to do prior to mavericks using system preferences (language and text), but now I can only submit a 2 letter word to replace, not a 1 letter word. I have tried using a space but it doesn't allow that. I would assume that most people would love to be able to type quickly without having to make uppercase I all the time (first world problem i know), so I can't understand why apple have removed this feature.

There is the shift key, or text replacement approach, providing you have enabled two things:
    Edit > Substitution > √ Text Replacement
System Preferences > Keyboard > TextClick + to add a replacement
    Replaceii[spacebar]
    With
    I[spacebar]
    Press return
    Quit System Preferences
Now, when you type ii, you will see a pop-up offering I.
In the OS X App Store, search for WordService. This free collection of Services will enable you to just type your content, select it, and then choose the Service item, “Initial Caps of Sentences.” It does what it says.
