How do I remove duplicate applications after installing Tiger 10.7.2?

After installing Lion 10.7.2 I have ten duplicate applications, all are applications that are generally included in MAC software (ie DVD playe, iChat, iTunes, Mail, etc.). How do I remove the duplicates? I tried deleting one from the folder where I generally kept it, then replaced it with the newer version that loaded with 10.7.2. However, that created a duplicate again.

I can (somewhat) speak for iChat.
iChat should always be kept in the Applications folder - so much so that it should not be put in any sub folder (I have heard of people putting it in an IM apps folder or lumping all Apple Apps in one folder).
This unfortunately causes problems in Updating (iChat gets updated from time to time in OS Updates) and in Upgrades (Such as moving to Lion) as the Apps are not "in the right place".

You should run the removal applicaiton that came with your installation. If the applications were originally drag and drop installations you can simply drag them to the trash and empty. If they were installed by an installer there should be an uninstaller included. If you're not sure you should check with the software developer for instructions. In this case Google can be your friend.

Grouping podcasts
A podcast series will split up in this way when its feed is moved to a new URL. Merging the series requires editing all the older episodes so that they appear to have come from the current feed. Download and install Mp3Tag (not sure of a Mac equivalent offhand). Use it to explore the Extended tags of podcasts from the same series. PODCASTURL (formerly ITUNESPODCASTURL) is used to link different podcasts from the same subscription (as opposed to fields like Album & Album Artist etc.) and PODCASTID (formerly ITUNESPODCASTID) determines the order. Everything else seems to be optional. Backup your files, tweak a few a tags then highlight the changed files in turn in iTunes with the image pane set to Selected item. This is marginally quicker for small numbers of files than using select, Get Info, OK to get iTunes to refresh its knowledge of the tags. Erm, last I checked the method no longer works anyway. If iTunes still fails to notice the updated tags try my script UpdateTagInfo (Win).

Wich version of iPhoto do you have? You need iPhoto '09 or '11 to order prints.
Make an album of all photos you want to order in the same order.
Then select all photos at once, when you use Share > order prints.

There's not much sense in purchasing a Mac to run only Windows on it. Keep in mind that drivers for Windows are a secondary concern for Apple. You will also not be able to install firmware updates. Firmware updates might be necessary whether you run Windows or OS X as they are updates to the code in your hardware and are not OS-specific. You must be running OS X in order to install a firmware update. You can do this even if you boot off of an external drive with OS X installed on it. At the very least, you should keep just a small partition for OS X on your internal drive.

If you can download the ML installer you can make a bootable install media by using:

OS X: About OS X Recovery
and it will install ML. Make sure you boot to Internet Recovery and not the Recovery Partition. If to the partition you will only get Mavericks.
