I have just started using firefox and everytime I open the home page a small window appears in the centre of the page asking if I would like to learn more about customising my firefox.

You have posted in the Mac Pro forum (workstation computer) not the Mac Book Pro forum ( laptop computer).
Homepage is the page your browser opens up with. Open the page you want, then go to your browser preferences for Homepage and pick current page as Homepage.
I would suggest you try the iCal forum if that it what you are using.

I am using an iMac, 8.1, early 2008. I installed Windows XP at that time. I am now using OS 10.8.5 and want to remove the Windows partition to free up disk space. Boot Camp Assistant does not allow me to select the "install or remove" option. How can I get rid of the Windows partition?

You can try removing it in Disk Utility.
To resize the drive do the following:
1. Open Disk Utility and select the drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list.
2. Click on the Partition tab in the Disk Utility main window. You should see the graphical sizing window showing the existing partitions. A portion may appear as a blue rectangle representing the used space on a partition.
3. Select the bottom rectangle/partition. Click on the Delete [-] button below the sizing window to remove it. Click on the Apply button. Wait until the process has completed.
4. In the lower right corner of the sizing rectangle for the remaining partition is a resizing gadget. Select it with the mouse and drag it all the way down to the bottom. Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.
You should now have a restored single volume on the drive.
It would be wise to have a backup of your current system as resizing is not necessarily free of risk for data loss. Your drive must have sufficient contiguous free space for this process to work.

I have been using the www.mlb.com website to listen and watch games ...they made some sort of upgrade and now I can not hear the game on the video stream or audio only stream, I have tried it in both safari & firefox web browser. The www.mlb.com help forum says to remove the silverlight program and install the beta of Flip4Mac. Installing flip4mac was easy I just clicked on the download button. It did not fix the audio issue and I was told I need to remove any traces of the Silverlight program. I have no clue how to remove software from my computer thanks for your help

How do I remove the white Padding line atop page?

Hi folks,
I made this quick and dirty temporary page for a friend using the blank all black template. For the life of me I don't know how to remove the white line that appears at the top and shows when viewing the page in any browser.
The line is controlled by Top & Bottom Padding (Inspector-->Pages-->Layout Tab) which I have set to 0 px.

How can i remove the jump list (with "frequent", "tasks") that comes with firefox shortcut in the start menu?

im using windows 7. when i tried adding a firefox shortcut to the start menu (above the recently opened programs) it added some kind of a side menu that stores the frequent sites i visited, and have some "tasks".
i dont want it and i want to remove it.

In the new Pages, version 5.5.2, my footers have cells. I want to have only one cell but can't find a way to remove the cell barriers.

In your Toolbar, select Document, and then turn off the footer only. Then, set View ▸ Show Layout. You will want to also Hide Word Count to get it out of your way.
Now, you can put something creative there that contains your text, or image content. For instance a Text box that is the same size as a footer, properly aligned using the yellow guidelines. Insert a right-justified Page number. Select the Text box, and then choose Arrange ▸ Section Masters ▸ Move Objects to Section Master. If from the Toolbar Documents Section tab, you choose to add another section after the current one, that Page number will auto-increment in the next section.

Recently an arrow appeared at the top of my upper toolbar next to search window. It glows when downloading and tells time I have left to finish. Then enlarges when download is finished. It's stupid. I have download bar in my add-ons to track downloads. How do I get rid of it, very annoying!! My son's computer got one too and is a little different in color, but he hates it too. Is it an automatic Mozilla update? I didn't download any add-ons or browers recently.

How do I remove the padlock from my mailbox so that I can receive mail?

We recently got a new computer and our mail server was changed from outlook express to Thunderbird. For some reason there is a padlock on our mail page, and is not allowing mail to come in from our provider oct.net. when we click the padlock it takes us to a page that allows us to click, "read messages"---but we prefer not to have to go through the extra steps. Isn't there a way to remove that padlock? It wasn't there the first few days we had Thunderbird as our mail address, but it showed up yesterday. Thank you.

While watching a movie, it will freeze and the word "loading" will pop up with the horizontal bar that usually indicates the percentage of the movie that's being reloaded. It is frozen and requires exiting the movie, going back to browsing and selecting the movie again. It will then go back to where the movie was stopped and continue playing. Sometimes this happens several times during a movie.
Just for the record I don't like this layout of firefox nearly as well as the old one. I also want to know how to git rid of stupid box that tells me download mobile firefox.
