How do I reset MacBook pro with lion back to factory settings without disk?
Good evening everyone,
I recently purchased a MacBook pro with lion installed and I need to reset it to factory settings without a disk. anyone know how to do this?
Restart it... and hold down command+R
then choose disk utility and format your disk
then choose reinstall lion
and it's back to default.

I have just downloaded OSX lion from the app store but I would like to completely reset my macbook.
I have the installation CD's but I was wondering if I could redownload OSX lion without having to pay for it again.
Also, I have a time machine backup of my computer but I would only like to restore certain files and not all of them.
Can Anyone help me with these questions.

When I try to reset at startup by usingCommand 'O' I =get the message "Delete some files0your startup disk is full. I no longer have the startup discs, so I need help resetting.

Once you have the password reset, see if you can delete some files. If not, you may have to boot into single user mode by holding down the Command and S keys when you start up. -
How to set iBook G4 back to factory settings without disk.
I'm about to sell my iBook G4. But I want it back to it's factory settings. I got told:
Turn off mac.
Restart and as soon as you see the white screen press;
Command and S.
Type in:
/sbin/fsck -fy
/sbin/mount -uw
rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
Reboot
but it doesn't reboot it. HELP!You can't; that procedure will cause it to rerun the Setup Assistant, but it isn't an actual factory reset. If you want to use it anyway, use 'shutdown -h now' as the final command.
The computer shouldn't be sold without its original disks.

When you use the Lion restore as described, it does a fresh install on the hard drive that you can select at the beginning of the process. This provides a complete install of the very latest version of Lion, including the recovery partition. The drive that you choose for the installation destination winds up like what you would have on a brand new computer from Apple.

I have a MacBook Pro with Lion Preinstalled, so AHT was present on the hard disc and worked when the product was new. One of the first things I did from new was run AHT and it worked fine. But now it doesn't start - instead the machine (eventually) boots into normal OS X.
Holding down "D" no longer starts Apple Hardware Test! Any idea what's happened and how I fix it? Or do I need to go to the Genius Bar?
Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 (11D50b), if it makes any difference.

Option-D works for an Internet-based AHT. However that only works with an internet connection. It doesn't seem to download it and install it - it needs internet every time.
Any idea how my local copy of AHT disappeared? I haven't repartitioned the drive or knowingly deleted anything. And how do I reinstate it (because if you need AHT your hardware problems may preclude internet access!)? -
My MacBook Pro with Lion 10.7.2, only audio on the headset, and speaker mute. With Windows, the audio works in speaker and headphone jack. What is the problem? What's the solution?
There is probably a red light on inside your headphone port, indicating that the analog/digital switch in there is stuck in the digital position. Insert a headphone plug and wigle it around, especially in the horizontal plane, as you insert and remove it several times. This will usually unstick the switch and restore normal operation. If it doesn't, the machine will need to be repaired.
This has been a fairly common problem, but in most cases it is easily cured as described above. -
I tried to airdrop Civilization V from a Macbook Pro with Mountain Lion to a Macbook Pro with Lion and it doesn't work. Other apps have but Civ V has not.
Likely because it's a not self contained and/or it's game and copy protected, so install it via the developers instructions instead, which likely means it will have ot be uninstalled off the first machine, the developer contacted for a new license key before installing on the newer machine.
If you want it on both machines, you will need to likely buy another license.
Most developers are fine with transfering license between machines, you have to contact them.
They just want to make sure it's only on one machine so they are not getting robbed. -

FaceTime can’t be installed on “Macintosh HD” because the version of Mac OS X is too new. I removed all traces of FaceTime and still not able to install from App store. New to macbook pro with Lion.any help with this would be greaty appreciated.
FaceTime is included in Lion. The App Store version is for 10.6. If you deleted it, restore it from a backup, or reinstall the Mac OS.

dears, i have purchased a new macbook pro with lion os, then after a while for a notification to update the iPhoto app, and when i tried to update it said that unable to update, then i uninstalled it, then i tried to install it but it said these apps connot be installed on this computer!!!!!
what should i do

pls help ASAPThanks a lot i followed the instructions for safe mode (i found out that i was pressing the C button after restarting) i did whats written there but the repair couldn't be performed so in addition i needed to re-formate the HD so i erased the volume and then repaired the disk--> quite disk utilities --> start the installation from the installation DVD.

The same thing happens to me, Safari asks me to update the Adobe FlasPlayer, I download, start the installation process, ask me my username and password in order to install, then see a window where I choose if I want to always install the updates , or ask first, or not inslate updates, and at this point it is not progress, I can not cancel the process, I turn off and turn on my machine.
What can I do ..??
