• How do I restore my Mac operating system after a botched uninstall of Bootcamp.

I completely botched up uninstall of Bootcamp.I wanted to uninstall and delete Windows 7 and re-do the operation. Bootcamp did not manage an uninstall and I got put back into a Widows install operation.Which won't re-install because it can't fiind a suitable hard disk. I have 4 sata harddrives installed, one contains the Mac OSX system files, one a Timemachine backup and one the Windows system.Other is data.
I have a boot USB. None of the startup keys (Press C during startup,Shift key, Cmd R ete) will respond. The machine just behaves like it has a windows BIOS and won't allow any way to see any of the Mac files.Nor will it accept any HD to try a reload of windows. I've tried replacing the data drive with a spare formatted for NTFS, but the Windows setup file won't proceed far enough to enable this to be tried. Any help. I just want to get back to running OSX again.

Have you tried press and holding the option/alt key while starting up so as to get the startup manager screen. I think you have too many drives attached for Boot Camp to install. Are these on the MacBook Pro you have listed?

• Problems with OSX Mavericks - How do I return to previous operating system?

I installed OS X Mavericks on my iMac. Now Safari, Mail, iPhoto, basically all software, hangs up as soon as it is opened. Nothing runs.
Also I have this constant request for keychain password which I haven't set up. I tried the fix I found online, but as soon as I click on "mail preferences" Mail hangs up and I have to force quit the program.
I have re-installed this software 3 times now. It has not functioned properly yet. Thank goodness Firefox still works.
Any solutions out there?

Apple doesn't seem to know how to "fix what's wrong".
I spent about an hour yesterday with Apple Tech Support. No solution.
I had a mbp running Mountain Lion and iPhoto 8.1.2. Perfect harmony.,
I purchased a new mbp from Apple, running Mavericks. It has iPhoto 9.5.1 on it.
When I started up iPhoto, it told me that my previous iPhoto library was not compatible and that I needed to "upgrade my iPhoto database"
I click on that link, and iPhoto stops responding.
Tech support walked me through various attempts at solving this problem, but all attempts failed.
After about an hour, neither the original tech nor the supervisor who took over had figured out what to do.
They told me that, as a last resort, they could save the photos in my old library and be able to use them with iPhoto 9.5.1, but I would lose all the organization (albums, folders). How is that acceptable, Apple? It's a big deal to me. They kept telling me that this was a very unusual case, but if you google "mavericks iphoto problem" you'll see lots of other people having Mavericks/iPhoto issues. They told me that I had a corrupted iPhoto database, but that database works just fine in Mountain Lion with iPhoto 8.1.2.
Supervisor is supposed to call me Sunday afternoon to follow up on this ....

Erase your hard drive using Disk Utility from the Recovery HD, then restore your old system from your backups.

If restoring to the previous state from backup isn't an option (hopefully it is), it may be easier to try to resolve what is causing problems. It's possible that some incompatible software you have installed is messing with the smooth running of your Mac.
Can you describe more fully what problems you are experiencing? You could also run EtreCheck and post the contents of its report here - it may reveal the cause as there is some software 'out there' that is known to create problems: http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck

If you bought Lion from the App Store, you can't legally or practically transfer it, because it's tied to your Apple ID. Reinstall the original software from the discs that came with the machine.

Good luck at the Genius bar.
I have figured out that if I do a hard restart of the phone the apps will work for a time, but then they begin to all freeze up again after a short time.
This may be a problem of not enough free storage. Have you checked the storage used by your apps?

• Is iTunes 11.1.5 compatible with Mac OSX 10.6.8? If not how can I restore the previous iTunes version?

Problem: Recently when I open iTunes it doesn't work; the little pinwheel just keeps spinning.
I have tried leaving it on, as suggested by another user, for over 12 hours. I didn't work.
I think the new iTunes version, 11.1.5, is not compatible with the operating system; Mac OSX 10.6.8. If this is so, how can I restore the previous iTunes version?

You need to be updated to iTunes 11.2.2.
You might want to consider running the combo updater over your install to refresh your files.
Combo updater: Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update v.1.1 - 1.09 GB
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
After running the combo updater, select Software Updater and update iTunes.
If iTunes fails to open after updating, hold down the Option key when launching iTunes. It will ask you to locate your iTunes Library.
Note: I've seen users with their iTunes Library on an external drive spin like this when the drive was failed to be seen in Disk Utility. Run Repair Drive on the external drive to fix this issue.

I only use Image Capture, so I can't speak for other software.
Here is how I select a Scan To destination:
If you are using the minimal details screen, you should have the same submenu to the left of the page size.

• Can I get rid of IOS 8.3 and go back to the previous operating system because 8.3 is running my battery down something fierce.

IOS 8.3 uses too much battery power. Can I remove it and go back to the previous operating system?

Downgrading is not supported.
As a test, restore as a new phone, not from a backup, and see if the battery life is better. You can restore from a backup after your test.

I have recently upgraded to Mavericks and I am being subjected to additional password requests and the monitor take store ever to boot up. Approximately 5 mins which is way in excess of previous operating system.

You may need to rebuild permissions on your user account. To do this, boot to your Recovery partition (holding down the Command and R keys while booting) and open Terminal from the Utilities menu. In Terminal, type: ‘resetpassword’ (without the ’s), hit return, and select the admin user. You are not going to reset your password. Click on the icon for your Macs hard drive at the top. From the drop down below it select the user account which is having issues. At the bottom of the window, you'll see an area labeled Restore Home Directory Permissions and ACLs. Click the reset button there. The process takes a few minutes. When complete, restart.

• Previous Operating System

I have a an iPod Touch - generation 2 and I was using the "Sleep" application and when it updated the operating system the "sleep" applicaton says it won't load because it needs a higher operating system which is not available for the iPod generation 2. It worked with the previous operating system so I wondered if I could revert back to the previous operating system? Any help is appreciated

If you still have the previous version of the app (the one that didn't require the later version of iOS) in your iTunes library or in a backup somewhere, you can restore that version into iTunes and resync it over to the iPod Touch.

I had to replace my harddrive on my IMAC and downloads from ITUNES do not show up. How do I restore my previous library?

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion. Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup copy, not good, then you can redownload some itunes purchases in some countries:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

• Before the recent updates to Firefox, clicking on the back button always brought me back to the same place on the page where I had been, but now it brings me to the top of the page. How do I restore the previous feature?

Before the recent updates to Firefox, when I would go to another page in the same window and then clickon the back button, Firefox used to bring me back to the same place on the page where I had been, but now it brings me to the top of the page, meaning that I have to laboriously scroll down to the old place. How do I restore the previous feature?

That change was made in Firefox 4, 6 months ago.
Click-hold the unified Back / Forward button
or
right-click it to get the Back / Forward history for that tab.
Or install this extension to get the old "drop-marker" button restored.
