How do I restrict access to home screen during interactive slideshow?

I want to set up a slideshow, of sorts, in which people can access a variety of pictures (some of which will have captions and info relating to content), easily navigate between them, and have the pictures in an organised format/a format that is easily navigated. The question I have, is how to make it so that people can't come out of the program/slideshow and into the home screen or anything else on the ipad. It will be part of an interactive display.
Any help/info would be appreciated.
Thanks

  • Any way to restrict access to home screen pages?

    Hi,
I would like to be able to put all of my kids games on one "page" and then password protect it on my ipad.  There are certain pages for education I want them to be able to access, but I only want them to go to certain games after they have finished their chores, school work (which often involves the ipad), etc.
    Is this possible?

Have to tried using Guided Access.
    Guided Access
Guided Access helps people with autism or other attention and sensory challenges stay focused on the task (or app) at hand. With Guided Access, a parent, teacher, or therapist can limit an iOS device to stay on one app by disabling the Home button, and even restrict touch input on certain areas of the screen. So wandering taps and gestures won’t distract from learning.
How to configure is in the iPad user manual.

  • How do I restrict access to touch screen functions on M401dn printer

I have just received a Laserjet pro (M401dn) printer for use in a classroom. It is now set up for network printing but is there any way I can stop students changing settings like IP address from the touch screen console. Our previous printers (P2055dn) had all the settings accessible but through an unattractive 2 line LED console. The new printer with its colour touch screen is just too tempting for inquisitive fingers.

How to remove items from iPad home screen?

Press and hold any of the apps and after a couple of seconds or so they should start to shake. Then press the 'x' in the left corner to delete the ones that you don't want, and when you've finished deleting press the home button so as to stop the shaking. If you don't get the 'x' on any of the apps that you've downloaded (you can't delete built-in apps) then check that Settings > General > Restrictions > Deleting Apps isn't set 'off'

  • SSH login- how do I restrict access to a shared folder?

I have created Shares in WGM for SMB and AFP access on my OS X 10.4.8 Server. However when I connect via SSH it's not restricting access to the folder based on the User Name I login with- I see the entire volume! How do I restrict access to a specific folder based on a user name setup in WGM? ACL's?

    Hey George,
It sounds like you are trying to limit ssh/sftp users to a specific area, aka jails. The FTP server lets you 'chroot' users to a certain area making it appear as the root thus preventing them from navigating up the hierarchy, which is what I think you, and me and many others are trying to accomplish.
The ssh compiled into OS X is missing this very needed feature. There have been a few documented workarounds, but they've either been too insecure or too clunky for me.
I've dealt with the fact that my users can get to the root of the hard drive, and have just been very careful about my privileges (by using ACLs), thus preventing them from getting inside areas they shouldn't.
There's a good write up here: http://www.schwie.com/brad/macosxsftpchroot/ and if you include the term 'chroot' in your searches, you should find a bit about it here too.
And Roger, I think George meant the file sharing protocol used by ssh. man sftp.

  • How can I restrict access to add. internal hard drive by account?

Hello! Okay, so I am my computer's administrator, and I have a secondary 'guest' account that anyone else can use. So, I know that all my data on my main, OS hard drive is secure from the guest account accessing it, but what about the additional hard drive that I have installed?
I have a good deal of sensitive data and files stored (and aliased) on my second internal drive that I do not care for 'guest' users to stumble upon. How can I restrict access to the secondary storage hard drive from my Guest login account, and/or just plain hide it from it? Surely, there is a need for this that has brought about a solution. Any tips/advice/solutions?
    Thanks!!!

    Hello polo-angulo,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the nature and scope of the issue you are describing. If you are saying that you are getting an error code (3004) when you try to restore your iPhone (because you could not remember your passcode), you may find the information and troubleshooting steps outlined in the following articles helpful:

  • Verizon iphone. how can i get to the home screen without activating it on a plan

how can i get to the home screen without activating it on a plan

Unless it is a 3rd party cord, there is no cord that just goes from the phone to the wall. However, you will need a cord that connects to the computer and the phone. The device is in recovery mode and you will need to restore it. See this support document for the instructions. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

How can I turn off the home screen preview of SMS/text messages on my new Iphone 3GS ?

Go to Settings>Messages and choose "No" under "Show Preview" which will hide the text part of the SMS/text message but still will pop up on who its from and just says "text message" on it.
Other than this there is not a complete way to disable the notification.

  • Returning to home screen during call

Hey all, my 8330 curve always just used to stay on the connected screen while in a call which allowed me to see my call time and be able to switch speaker phone on and off, etc. Now though, for some reason, it will switch back to the home screen during calls. I cannot tell if I am even in a call, let alone see how long i've been talking or turn on speaker phone.
Any ideas how I can keep it from returning to the home screen during calls?
    Thanks

I've had the same problem and asked AT&T to assist in one of their store fronts and was told that my phone was out of warranty.  BB support was of no help, stating that they had no idea what I was  talking about.

  • How do i transfer a apple home screen to a kindle fire HDX?

Ok so I have always loved the Apple home screen layout but instead of getting me a apple device for my birthday I got a kindle fire HDX. How do I transfer home screens? PLEASE I know for sure there is a way to do it.

That does not make sense.  Home Screens are part of the software. The Kindle Fire has its own homescreen designed by its developers the way it is.
Also what does this have to do with remote desktop?
Apple Remote desktop lets you access an Apple computer remotely from another Apple computer.
Even if it was possible to somehow emulate an Apple Desktop on a kindle fire, that would be a question to ask in the Kindle fire forums not here.
