Specifically:
View deleted messages
If the option to move deleted messages to the Trash mailbox is set (in the Mailbox Behaviors pane of the account), you can view the messages in that mailbox until they’re permanently erased. To retrieve a deleted message, drag it from the Trash mailbox to another mailbox.
If deleted messages aren’t moved to the Trash mailbox, the messages may temporarily remain in their original location, but are dimmed or hidden. To show or hide them, if available, choose View > Show Deleted Messages or View > Hide Deleted Messages.

I moved location and found (once again) that I could not send messages. In the past I have moved between Apple support and BT support to fix the problem. This time the BT IT technical support guy took over the screen, created a new account, made sure I could send messages and said goodbye.
In fixing the problem he deleted my existing BT Email Account and along with it 8 months worth of email history. I had backups to 5th April and hose are now restored but missing form 5th April to yesterday. With my old PC I could always retrieve stuff I'd deleted (as it never really disappeared from the computer)
Does anyone know if my deleted email box contents are still siting hidden somewhere on my laptop and if so how I can get them back? (I've only just started using Macs so still very green!)

Welcome to the Discussions, and to Macs.
Each time you remove an email account there is a warning that the mailboxes associated with that account will be lost -- that is a very accurate message, and they no longer exist. The BT tech was simply clueless, but ought not to have been so cavalier!
Any messages that remain on the server, however, can again be downloaded -- are you able to view the POP server to see what remains on it? The Sent messages would not be there, of course.

if you have a backup from before you deleted it you can restore that
otherwise I would take contact to the mail provider and ask if they'd let you restore it

I'm having a similar but slightly different problem. My company just migrated to Gmail, and it's saving mail drafts every 30 seconds into my Trash folder.
I unchecked the "Show in IMAP" preference in the Gmail settings, but my Drafts folder completely disappeared. I went back and checked it and the folder reappeared (with my drafts still in there).
I like the idea if starting an email on my laptop and having the option of finishing it on my iPhone or iPad, so only saving Drafts locally would not be ideal.

Did you backup your device after you took the video but before you deleted it? If so, restore your device with that backup. If not, then there's no way to retrieve that video.

Hello potipher. With regards to retrieving deleted text messages, or viewing a different phone's messages, there really is no way to do this without additional software. If your line, or the other lines on your account are smartphones, (Android or iPhone) you can download an application called Verizon Messages. If they’re not in a backup, try using a data recovery product such as the ones listed here. Don't write anything else to the drive until the files are recovered or you choose not to recover them.

Only be using data rescue software - and there's always the chance that the file has already been overwritten.
I've used Data Rescue 3 to succesfully retrieve files that I've trashed. It's an $100 gamble, tough, and there's no assurance that you'll be able to retriebve the file.
