How do I retrieve lost Bookmark icons most of which disappeared when I updated to Firefox 8?

After I updated to Firefox 8 I noticed that more than half of the itemsin my bookmarks list had lost their icons which were replaced by a dotted line in the shape of a square. I tried to go back to using Firefox 7 using System Restore. The restore was successful except that Firefox could not be opened. So I undid the restore and this allows Firefox to open and all seems ok apart from the fact that the majority of the items in my Bookmark list have disappeared and have been replaced as described. Can anybody help?

Hi everyone. At issue is that FF8, obviously due to a coding bug, no longer is retrieving the favicon from the root of a website's www directory website in some situations. I tried starting FF8 with all add-ons disabled, just to verify that an add-on wasn't causing the issue. The add-on Check Places will restore the missing favicons, but the favicon will disappear as soon as you visit the bookmarked URL if the favicon was missing after you upgraded to FF8.
Hehe. I am not too thrilled with Mozilla's new rapid development cycle. FF8 is simply a tweaked version of FF7 and as such it should have been a 7X upgrade. But I guess Mozilla wants Firefox to get up to version 10000 before Chrome does. Silly.

I am left handed and after all this time I've lost both the bookmarks icon and the homepage icon to the far right of the screen. Why did you do that, to look like Windows Explorer? If I wanted IE8.0 I would have been using it. And the default search engine is Bing? At least there is a work around to change that. You have really made a mess of this outstanding product.

How can I restore lost bookmarks in older version of mozilla when I uninstalled mozilla? When I reinstalled mozilla (new version) the old bookmarks were missing

I've tried restoring to an earlier date and only the newer version of mozilla comes up without the bookmarks that I had in the older version of mozilla. I didn't do a backup of my bookmarks in the older version before uninstalling it. I thought mozilla would just keep them in my newer version of mozilla. I would like to get the bookmarks back that were in my older version of mozilla.

Did you chose to remove personal data when uninstalling?
Firefox will delete your profile folder in that case and you lose personal data like bookmarks.
Did Firefox create a new default profile?

Note that a System Restore can restore older versions of.ini and .js files like profiles.ini, so you need to be cautious when doing s System Restore and always first create a full backup of the Firefox profile folder.<br />

Not sure about pictures, but for iphone notes:
After many hours of trying everything to retrieve my lost notes (several just disappeared overnight for no reason) it dawned on me that they were linked to one of my email accounts (In my case yahoo).
I logged into that account directly from the yahoo site (not iphone mail!) and "Voila!" all of my notes, even the disappeared ones, were there!
Took some cut & pasting and I'm back in business.

Downloaded Itunes on a new computer and am trying to retrieve lost music files. Everything pulled up when I first clicked the library link. When I tried to create a playlist, a message kept popping up, saying that I needed to authorize this computer before I do anything else basically. I then went to account settings, and it showed that the device was authorized. I thought that maybe it just needed to be reset, so i clicked unauthorize and ok. I went back to authorize it again and clicked done. Then went back into the library, and the only songs that where in there, were the ones that made it into the new playlist I created before the authorization message popped up. Did you delete the pics, or you just can't find them on your iPad?
If you deleted them, they are gone as there is no Trash Can or Recycke Bin. If you have a backup, retrieve the pics from your backup.
