How do I return a Boolean array from LabView to TestStand?

I am trying to return a Boolean array from Labview to TestStand and have TS evaluate the results. I can do this for arrays of integers or reals but booleans do not work. I tried copying the PassFailTest step type and adding an array of Bool but I couldn't get it to evaluate the array. It simply always passed. How can this be done?
Bob A.

I have thought about evaluating the Boolean data in TestStand but, as you say, this is a lot of work. What I have been doing is to map the boolean data to integers in LV (very easy) and then use the multiple numeric step type to evaluate the integer array automatically. This feels kludgy and I have tried a couple of times to create a "multiple boolean" step type with little success. I'm surprised TS hasn't anticipated a test returning multiple pass/fail results. I do this all the time for production code.
What I have tried is to copy MultipleNumericLimitsTest data type to a custom type and add a BooleanArray with a data type Array of Boolean[0..empty]. Then when I specify module, I select Step.BooleanArray as the value. The last step (that I know of) is to select Step.BooleanArray as the data source in the edit limits window. At this point if I run the test, I get the error "expect numeric, found boolean" (or something similar). When I look at the properties of my custom step type, the Substeps has DoMultiNumericMeasEvaluation as the Post-Step. I believe this is the root of my problem but I can't figure out how to change this to "DoMultiBooleanMeasEvaluation" or similar. Any Ideas?

    You ought to have a listener somewhere that calls a function
    to then set up the loaded swf. In that function you can do this
    kind of thing:
    var ldrmc:MovieClip;
    function swfloaded (e:Event) {
    ldrmc = null;
    if (e.target.content is MovieClip) {
    ldrmc = e.target.content as MovieClip;
    If the swf was published for AS3, then ldrmc will end up
    being a pointer to the root of the swf, and you can call functions
    or set variables however you like. If it was an AS2 swf, ldrmc
    would be null.
    Inside the loaded swf you could try trace statements, to make
    sure you're looking up the hierarchy far enough. Like this:
    trace(MovieClip(parent.parent));
    If that doesn't trace MainTimeLine, then maybe you're not
    looking up far enough. Don't forget that the swf itself is in a
    loader, and so may be one level down from where you thought it was.

    Hi agar,
    values in an array are "assigned" by building an array (using BuildArray) or by replacing values in an existing array (ReplaceArraySubset)!
    Good starting point could be this...

  • How can I pass in continuous value from labview to teststand?

    Hello
    I want to run a vi using teststand. I want this vi to send values to teststand. My problem is that the value is only updated at the end of the vi execution and I want to get the value before the end of the vi execution. If somebody can help me ...
    Thanks
    Corentine

    Corentine,
    you can think of TestStand calls to LabVIEW-VIs just like functioncalls in C/C++. The main continues running only if the subroutine is fully executed. Furthermore, LV returns values to the parameters (connector block) only at the end of the execution of the VI.
    So you cannot use "simple VI calls" in your sequence if you need datatransfer during execution from steps. If you like to do something like this, the easiest way would be to create a VI which runs continuously in the background and supplies data via mechanisms like Queues (if executed in the same instance) or TCP/IP. In the stepmodules you can retrieve the data when needed.
    hope this helps,

  • How do you return back one record from a NamingEnumeration

    how do you return back one record from a For Loop issue
    Posted: Jan 4, 2007 9:13 AM Reply
    I have the following piece of code and i want to be able to just return one item...
    that is return e.next(); but this line doesnt work for below what is wrong
    if (attrs == null) {
    System.out.println("No attributes");
    } else {
    /* Print each attribute */
    for (NamingEnumeration ae = attrs.getAll();
    ae.hasMore();) {
    Attribute attr = (Attribute)ae.next();
    System.out.println("attribute: " + attr);
    /* print each value */
    for (NamingEnumeration e = attr.getAll();
    e.hasMore();){
    System.out.println("value:- " + e.next()));
    return e.next();
    }

    At the end of the loop, the NamingEnumeration has no more elements. You need to call getAll() again.
    By the way, please use code tags (above the posting box). You've been here long enough to know that (judging by your registration date).

  • Pass 2D array from LabVIEW to C# problem

    Hi , I have made a dll using .net assembly to use my labview code in c# . I can easily pass string , numerical and 1D arrays from labview to c# and vice versa, but when I want to read back 2D U16 array from Labview in c# I get the following exception although they have exactly the same type (ushort)
    Cannot widen from source type to target type either because the source type is a not a primitive type or the conversion cannot be accomplished.
    Could you please let me know how should I pass 2d array from labview to c#
    Thanks

    If all else fails, you could pass n 1D arrays across and then put the original 2D array back together. That's probably how the computer would do it behind the scenes, anyway.

  • Error returning large String arrays from web service

    Hi,
    I currently have an EJB that returns a String[] array that I have implemented as
    a Web Service. When I execute a Java client (JSP) from Weblogic, I don't have a problem
    as long as the returned array is relatively small, but when the array starts to get
    a little larger (say 20 elements, about 30 chars each), I consistently get:
    SAXException: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException:array element type mismatch.
    Strangely enough, when my web service client is a .asp page running under MS IIS
    (using the MS SOAP Toolkit), it works fine. I have returned as many as 15000 - 20000
    array elements in one call. And since I am calling the same Weblogic EJB with the
    MS client, I know it's a problem with the Java client, not the EJB.
    Anybody know of a bug or had this experience before? Or know what I might be doing
    wrong? FYI, I am using Weblogic 6.1 SP2.

  • Boolean array from Vector element

    I have a Vector with each element being a boolean array. When I use the elementAt method it returns an object which I have to then cast in some way to a boolean array.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks for your help,
    Wallace

    By the way:
    - don't use Vectors if you don't have to. Other collections may be better suited and faster.
    - if you use Java 1.5, use Generics. Then you won't have to cast anymore.

    I have values such as gain, corner frequency, and pass/fail that exist in arrays generated from collecting information from a 7 electrode EEG system.  I want to create a table/spreadsheet in DIAdem that imports the data when using the LabVIEW DIAdem express function, into a table or spread sheet?

    Hi eximo,
    The DIAdem Report express block makes it easy to populate text boxes and 2D graphs in DIAdem from variables (wires) in LabVIEW.  Unfortunately neither 2D tables nor 3D graphs are implemented in the DIAdem Rerpot express block.  So you've got 2 options.
    Option 1:  if you don't have too many strings that you want to display, you can arrange that many text boxes into the shape of a 2D table and use the DIAdem Report express block as it was intended (sending data to it from LabVIEW wires).
    Option 2:  at some point as you continue to add elements to your report, you'll probably end up here.  The DIAdem Report express block was designed to connect LabVIEW wires with simple DIAdem reports.  But there is a hook you can use in the DIAdem Report express block to run a VBScript instead of loading a REPORT template *.TDR file.  With a DIAdem VBScript you can accomplish anything in DIAdem.  In addition to wiring up a VBScript path instead of a REPORT template path, you'll also need to send all the data you want to report on to a TDMS file and have DIAdem read the data from that file, instead of receiving the data directly from the LabVIEW wire at the express block's input terminal.  This is a little more complicated, but it will allow you to do absolutely anything you want to in DIAdem and start that report from LabVIEW.
    I'm attaching an example of Option 2, but I'd be willing to help you adapt it to your data and reporting needs if you'll post or email ([email protected]) your data set and a rough *.TDR file of what you want in REPORT.  It's pretty slow here at the office over Christmas, so I've got time....

  • How do i pass a daqmx task from labview to matlab using the math interface toolkit?

    I want to use DAQMX functions from Matlab using the Math Interface Toolkit (MIT). How can I have a labview function output (return) the DAQMX task to matlab via the MIT?
    I want to do this so I can start a DAQMX task in Labview from a matlab function and return control to matlab without losing the task.

    Hi Mark,
    (I already posted this answer in your other thread, but let's keep THIS thread alive - it makes more sense here in the LabVIEW forum than in Instrument Control forum.)
    Since the DAQmx Task is not a native data type that can be passed directly to MATLAB from LAbVIEW, try flattening the DAQmx Task to a string before passing to MATLAB. However, I doubt that you can access the task from within MATLAB, but feel free to give it a try.
    Good luck!

    Hello,
    Thank you for your inquiry regarding website login. I understand that you would like to logon to Hotmail using LabVIEW 6.i. DataSocket however, is used to send and receive data between computers running LabVIEW. One possible solution is to use ActiveX events to run an internet browser window on the front panel of your VI. I assume however, that you would like LabVIEW to automate this task. Unfortunately Hotmail is a secure site using Microsoft Passport .NET. .NET is supported by LabVIEW 7.0 but the .NET control of Passport would have to be provided by Microsoft.
