How do I run a table over multiple pages?

Hi I write TV scripts using a simple two column table which can be many rows long - how can I get Pages to automatically run the table over multiple pages whilst still allowing me to cut and paste and rearrange the script? This is simple in Word and must work in pages but I can't work out how to get it to work. I've tried looking at the Page Break feature but it won't come up from the table?
many thanks

At this time, There is no way to drive tables in Pages with AppleScript.
Do your job in Numbers which allow that.

  • How do you stretch an image over multiple pages?

I need to print a large picture, one that will be 30x30 inches. I need to print multiple pages with the image cut up but when I try to resize the image to make it bigger, Pages doesn't create a new page, it just runs the image off the page. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Pages will accept custom page sizes of 30x30 (or even larger), but then you're faced with the problem of finding a printer that will handle that size of paper.
OTOH, if you move you're project to Numbers, you can:
    Open a "Blank" template.
Use the Metrics Inspector to set the Sheet size to 30" by 30"
Click on the Table in the sidebar to select it.
    Press Delete.
You'll be left with a 30x30 (or larger) blank slate on which you can place Text boxes, Shapes and graphics objects (including your large picture).
Thanks to Yvan, who has been mentioning the use of a Numbers sheet as a canvas foe some time now.

  • How do I make a table span multiple pages?

    Hello,
My team and I use a Pages doc with several tables in it. The size of these tables (i.e. the number of rows in the table) change every week. Before upgrading to Yosemite, whenever a table extended beyond one page it would continue on the next with the same headers as the original table. For some reason, the tables now instead"shift" to the next page once the number of rows becomes too much for the current page.... That is unless it is the only table on on the page, in which case it will perform in the desired manner. However, if there are multiple tables on a page, the table will move to the next page, leaving a big blank space where it used to be. I have tried playing with the "Arrange" area to no avail. I can make the table float and create a new table on the next page once the rows become too numerous, but this is not ideal. Has this feature been removed from the new pages or am I just not looking in the right place?
    Thanks,
    mFuture

Use Pages '09. Pages 5.5.1 is a lost cause.

  • How do I split a table over two pages in Pages?

    Hi
I'm trying to split a table in Pages so that the text in the two adjacent rows will fall on two separate pages but I cannot find a way to do this. This was something that is easy to do if using MS Word so I can't believe it would be a feature missing from Pages?
The document I'm working with is my resume and I had my jobs nicely formatted in a long table so it was easy to work with (job title, dates, achievements etc. in different cells). Since updating to Yosemite and Pages 5.5 I've noticed that I now have my career summary and 'Professional Experience' title on the first page but the table with all my job information is now starting on the second page - leaving just a lot of blank space on the first page. One of the jobs on the second page now also splits across pages 2 and 3. I can see that it is trying to keep everything in the table together and that what I need to do is just split the table at a certain point so that I can put the first part of the table back onto page 1 and the second part of it on page 2 - but it won't give me any option to do this.
    Any ideas?

Although this thread is several months old, I felt compelled to reply as I have just encountered this gaping hole in Pages functionality.  Jerrold Green 1 is incorrect in asserting that the OP's problem is that Pages won't split a cell across pages.  The OP clearly indicates that Pages is not moving rows that won't fit on the first page of the table, but rather it moves the whole table to the next page.
So for example, if I have a paragraph of text at the top of page 1, and then insert a table under this paragraph that contains more rows than will fit on the remainder of the page, rather than the rows that won't fit being moved to page 2, Pages moves the entire table to page 2 leaving a big blank space on page 1.  But bizarrely if the table contains more rows than will fit on one whole page, then it will move the overflow rows onto the third page, making you wonder why it didn't just do this on page 1.
This is with the table arrangement set to Move with Text.  If I set it to Stay on Page, the end of the table just flows over the footer and off the page into oblivion.  If I set Text Wrap to None, it just plonks the table right on top of the other text.  So it gives you the option to do something silly, but not the most sensible option.
If I am missing something, then can someone please correct me.  Without this basic functionality Pages cannot be considered a professional Word Processor.  I'll unfortunately have to go back to MS Word.

  • Import XML table over multiple pages with rowspan "bug"

Hi, I came across the following oddity:
    I have an XML-file, and a XSL-file to convert the XML-data into a table.
It contains a header, body & a footer.
This table, however, has a rowspan in the first column, spanning [x] rows, where [x] is the amount of items per category, like this example:
    Header 1
    Header 2
    Header 3
    Header 4
    Header 5
    Header 6
    Appetizers (3 items)
    Appetizers1
    Appetizers2
    Appetizers3
    Soup and Salad (4 items)
    Soup and Salad1
    Soup and Salad2
    Soup and Salad3
    Soup and Salad4
    Deserts (2 items)
    Deserts1
    Deserts2
    Footer
This works fine, as long as all data fits on 1 page.
If I, for example, have 40 "soups & salads", and thus spanning more pages, the "rowspan" is NOT continued on the 2nd page!
This results into an odd-looking table.
I've included the sample-XML & XSL files to see it in practice, and I leave this post with the following question:
Am I missing something? Or is it 'something I have to live with, and edit things manually anyway?

  • How can I make a table span multiple pages?

    Hi guys,
I really hope someone can help me out. First off I am a indesign novice. I have primarily been using indesign scripting to take other user's indesign documents and generating dynamic previews and PDFS with indesign server 2014 (it's pretty cool stuff).
Someone gave me an indesign document that has a table that starts off in the middle of the page and depending on how many rows they want the table to be it should bump the overflow'ed table rows to the 2nd page.
In indesign I have tried to link the text frames together. It looks ok in indesign as the linked content shows up on page two.
Whenever I run the script to generate the preview JPEG the table on page 1 gets cut off and doesn't render anything on page 2.
Using a script I was able to examine all the textframes on the page and none of the text frames have their "overflows" property set to true.
What am I doing wrong here? I'm sure there are a million things I'm missing but what are some of the basic things I can look for. I'm totally lost here guys.
    Thanks,
    Dustin

I'm not familiar with the script you are talking about, but if you want to make Jpegs of your pages, the best route is to export the document as PDF, and then open in Photoshop, where you can save as Jpeg. If creating Jpegs was not your goal, can you explain further?

    HP Officejet 6500A Plus e-All-in-One Printer - E710n

How do I scan a document with multiple pages into one file?  My old printer (psc 2110) asked after each scan if I wanted to scan another page.  At the end I had one pdf file with multiple pages.
This new one creates one file for each page and I cannot find a way to create one pdf file with multiple pages.

    Hi mpw101,
If you load the papers into the ADF - Automatic Document Feeder, and then select Document to PDF then they will all be scanning into one file. Let me know if this works for you?

  • IPAD3 - Pages: A document I've imported to Pages, has a table. Information in this table doesn't wrap over multiple pages, as it does in Word

    Hi,
Hopefully someone can help me out.  I'm producing meeting minutes, which have all the actions presented in a table.  For some of these actions, as they are so long, they span multiple pages.  Once I imported the document into Pages, it drops the table off the title row of the table, and then moves it to the next page.  It also doesn't extend the information in the cell onto the 3rd page, it just hides it behing the next cell, which is on the next page.
All the help links I've found give clear instructions as to how it can be done from a Mac, but I'm working off an IPad3.
    Please help...?

The version of Pages for iPad is kind of a stripped down version of the Mac version.  The iPad version has a terrible time with tables.  And if you import a doc from your Mac or PC Pages will try to make it as close as possible to the original but you will see some changes and if you have tables they do tend to get all messed up.  This has been my experience at least.  This is why when I need to be able to work from a doc from my PC on my iPad I try to use OnLive or OnCloud (I am a Windows user)
Or I try to use QuickOffice which does a pretty good job of importing docs and not messing up the formatting.

  • How can I Reconcile all tables on multiples mappings with scripting????

    I have OWB 9.2.0.2.8
I have to reconcile all tables and external tables on multiple mappings.
How can I do it with scripting language, please?
    Thanks very much in advance!!!!

    Good afternoon Claudio,
    Should be something like this:
    foreach mapName [OMBLIST MAPPINGS] {
      puts "Checking $mapName"
      foreach tabName [OMBRETRIEVE MAPPING '$mapName' GET TABLE OPERATORS] {
        puts "Reconciling $tabName"
        OMBRECONCILE TABLE '$tabName' \
          TO MAPPING '$mapName' \
          OPERATOR '$tabName' \
          USE (RECONCILE_STRATEGY 'REPLACE', MATCHING_STRATEGY 'MATCH_BY_OBJECT_ID');
}If you want to alter reconcile and/or matching strategy, check documentation on OMBRECONCILE in the OWB Scripting Reference.
    Good luck, Patrick

  • How do I break a large table over several pages?

I'm sure I used to be able to show a large table (more than one page long) over several pages. Now, when when the table grows to the bottom of the page the whole table is displayed on a new page. How do I get it to break so it shows partly on one page and partly on the next page?

Not sure how to add a comment to my own question...
I am working in Pages 5. I tried to break a table over more than one page in an existing document and just couldn't get it to work (still can't). I tried it in a new document and it worked, no problem. The only thing I can think of is that I had to export my original document to Word and then had to open it again in Pages. There must have been some corruption.
I'm happy again... only wish that I could live within the Mac world and not have to deal with the PC world. Sigh.

  • How do I scan a document with multiple pages _ HP 6500 wireless

I tried this in another thread but never got an answer, so here it goes again. I have a problem trying to scan multiple pages FROM THE GLASS into one pdf file. I have the HP Officejet 6500 wireless E709n printer running under WIN7 64-bit. My printer has the HP Document Manager software version 2.0.  How do I set that up to do multiple page from the glass into a single pdf file. I was able to do this easily with my older HP Officejet 6110 printer but the HP software on that was HP Director.   Any help will be appreciated.

Jabzi, Clicked on the link and it takes me to a page that says to use HP software that I have to be using HP Solutions Center software that came with the HP printer. I have a HP Laptop G7-2022 that came with WIN7 and the HP 6500 wireless printer and there are several listings on the HP programs drop down menu, but no HP Solutions Center. It has HP Document Manager,  HP Photosmart, Officejet 6500, etc but no Solutions Center. So I take it then from your answer that HP Document Manager can scan multiple pages from the ADF into one pdf file but can't do the same thing from the glass, correct?  Where do I get HP Solutions Center software since it didn't come with the HP laptop or HP printer?

  • Possible to play a single embedded audio clip over multiple pages?

    hi
i'm wondering if it's possible to have a single audio clip play over more than one page in an interactive pdf generated in indesign cs5.5?  in the media preview it seems to work but when i export to pdf the audio stops playing when i move to the next page, even when the "stop on page flip" is NOT checked in the media object options box.
what i want is the oppositite of an object with multiple states; looking for a single media object with multiple pages.  thoughts?  i'm publishing song lyrics, need to have the audio playing through the whole text of the piece when it runs to the next page.
    thanks

In the other forum I stated:
It can be done by choosing the right option but it has been my experience that the continuous playback only works in Adobe Acrobat and not in any version of Adobe Reader across different devices including computers.
Your best bet would be to publish an interactive Flash file and if you need that to be on an iOS device get someone with an iOS developer license to convert the published Flash file into an iOS app.  You might even be able to convert the Flash file into an epub like a digital magazine but I am inexperienced with this aspect of InDesign.  There are good tutorials that I've seen briefly on creating epub digital magazines from InDesign though so do some research on it and report back.
Have you explored any of this thus far?  I hope you get some good results.
