How do I save NEW documents from Office 2011 to SP2010?

Hi,
We are using Office 2011 for Mac, with Safari and SP2010 for collaboration room and document libraries.
Accessing, opening, reading and saving existing documents from SP2010 works all fine.
But if I, after having opened and edited a Word document, want to do a "save as" to Sharepoint, how do I do it without having to temporarily store the document somewhere else.
The "Share - Save to Sharepoint" in Office could be useful if I only could browse thru the folder hierarchy in the saved Sharepoint Locations. I have too many folder to add them all as "Sharepoint Locations".
I have also tried to MS Document Connection, but as long as I cannot see the Document Connection from Office, it doesn't help much.
Any advice?.

I'm not a Mac user, that's my caveat, however there is a button on the ribbon for SharePoint Document Libraries on the Library Tab called Connect To Office.
If that works with Office 2011 you'll start seeing your SharePoint site as a place where you can store documents in Office.
Otherwise, you need to click "New" in teh library itself and have SharePoint open Office for you.

    Cannot save as or save new documents in Office:mac.

    Your profile says 10.7.3 which is Lion. 10.6 is Snow Leopard.
    If that's the case and you did a security update via software update last week that also caused problems for many. Apple have issued an update to that as well, version 1.1:

    How can I save my document from pages to a flash drive?

    Locate the file on your Mac, plug in the USB stick (the mac should prompt you to open it, or do this automatically), click and drag the file from the computer (wherever it's saved to) to the USB folder. That's just putting an already saved file there.
    To save it TO your USB stick, find it in the Save To diolog on the sidebar. Click it, then save it there.

  • How do I save a document from my email to my computer. I have no "save as" option.

    I want to be able to save an email from my inbox to my computer. Can find a "save as" button or get a copy and paste to work. When I try to "save the page" it saves the web page not the email. .

    Don't you have a '''"Print to PDF"''' feature, that will appear as a "printer" selection when you open the print dialog box?
    That will save that print job as a PDF file.
    ''IIRC, a '''Print to PDF''' feature is included in Windows by MS starting with either Vista or Windows 7. If not part of Windows, maybe the Adobe PDF program you have installed [I see that as a plugin in your More System Details] has added that feature. Or maybe it was added by your Microsoft Office application - [another plugin I see that you have "The plug-in allows you to open and edit files using Microsoft Office applications"]''.
    Best I can do for a screenshot as a example - ''I'm on WinXP and don't that feature in Firefox to capture myself.''

    Just click on the drop-marker arrow in the Printer - Name selection box and see if '''Print to PDF''' is available.

  • How to call an applescript application from Office 2011 Excel VBA

    All:
    I have been pounding my head how to implement a working VBA application into the Mac environment. I have tried a number of approaches calling applescript from VBA. I would like to call my applescript application and pass one argument. My applescript application is as follows:
    <code>
    on run argv
    set theURL to (item 1 of argv)
    set p_path to do shell script "echo ~"
    set m_path to POSIX file p_path
    set theName to text -((offset of "/" in (reverse of characters of theURL) as text) - 1) thru -1 of theURL
    set theFile to (p_path & "/Downloads/" & theName)
    set macPath to (POSIX file theFile)
    do shell script "/usr/bin/curl " & theURL & " -o " & quoted form of POSIX path of macPath
    end run
    </code>
    My last attempt within VBA is:
    <code>
    Sub SaveMetaDataFile(URL As String, shortFileName As String)
    Dim scriptToRun As String
    Dim posixcmd As String
    posixcmd = ThisWorkbook.Path
    scriptToRun = "tell application " & posixcmd & ":MetaDataFileDownloadScript.app " & URL
    MsgBox "[" & scriptToRun & "]"
    MacScript (scriptToRun)
    </code>
    I first tried to call the script directly without the "tell application" and I still obtain an error. I also tried the following in VBA and I get the same error with the last lane of code:
    <code>
    scriptToRun = "set theURL to " & """" & URL & """" & Chr(13)
    scriptToRun = scriptToRun & "set p_path to do shell script " & """" & "/bin/echo ~ " & """" & Chr(13)
    scriptToRun = scriptToRun & "set m_path to " & """" & posixcmd & """" & Chr(13)
    scriptToRun = scriptToRun & "set theName to " & """" & shortFileName & """" & Chr(13)
    scriptToRun = scriptToRun & "set theFile to (p_path & " & """/Downloads/""" & " & theName)" & Chr(13)
    scriptToRun = scriptToRun & "set macPath to (POSIX file theFile)" & Chr(13)
    scriptToRun = scriptToRun & "do shell script " & """" & "/usr/bin/curl " & """" & " & " & " theURL " & " & " & """" & " -o " & """" & " & " & " quoted form of POSIX path of macPath"
    MsgBox scriptToRun
    'scriptToRun = scriptToRun & "do shell script " & """/usr/bin/curl """ & " & " & " theURL " & """ -o """ & " & " & " quoted form of POSIX path of macPath"
    MacScript (scriptToRun)
    </code>
    The above code is from the applescript application. The applescript application works well using the terminal via osascript. For example:
    xenas-imac:Census Work Xena$ osascript MetaDataFileDownloadScript.app http://www2.census.gove/acs20095yr/summaryfile/Sequence_Number_and_Table_numberLookup.xls
    xenas-imac:Census Work Xena$
    The whole goal is to download a file into the Download directory from Excel to allow the next step to import the file into Excel for the user. Any help here would be great!
    Thank you;
    Lori

    Update:
    Ok have the module almost working and matches the syntax within the test applescript I had created, but the VBA code via the MacScript() call is generating an invalid procedure or argument call. The following is the test applescript to compare the created string to be passed to VBA MacScript() function:
    <code>
    set appPath to quoted form of POSIX path of "Macintosh HD:Users:Xena:Desktop:Census Work:"
    do shell script "/usr/bin/osascript " & appPath & "MetaDataFileDownloadScript.app " & "http://www2.census.gove/acs20095yr/summaryfile/Sequence_Number_and_Table_numberLookup.xls"
    </code>
    The following is the VBA module that generates the above word for word as far as I can tell:
    <code>
    Sub SaveMetaDataFile(URL As String, shortFileName As String)
    Dim scriptToRun As String
    Dim posixcmd As String
    posixcmd = ThisWorkbook.Path
    posixcmd = posixcmd & ":"
    scriptToRun = "set appPath to quoted form of POSIX path of " & Chr(34) & posixcmd & Chr(34) & Chr(13)
    scriptToRun = scriptToRun & "do shell script " & Chr(34) & "/usr/bin/osascript " & Chr(34) & " & appPath & " & Chr(34) & "MetaDataFileDownloadScript.app " & Chr(34) & " & " & Chr(34) & URL & Chr(34)
    MsgBox "[" & scriptToRun & "]"
    MacScript (scriptToRun)
    End Sub
    </code>
    The message box in the above VBA code matches my test applescript file and I have taken the output of the MsgBox and used it in a test applescript and it works great, but VBA is throwing "Run-time error '5': Invalid procedure call or argument".
    Looking at Microsoft's definition it takes a string argument and I have made sure that scriptToRun is a string type, so at this point I suspect there is something wrong with the MacScript() funciton, or I am missing something above. Is there another way to call an applescript application from VBA outside the MacScript() function? Or is there something I am missing? Any help or suggestions is needed.
    Thank you;

  • How do I by default save new documents in a particular folder?

    In OS10.3.9, how do I by default save new documents in a particular folder? I have created a new folder called new docs which I have put in the dock, and would like to save all new documents in that folder...
    Thanks,
    Michael

    ibisbill:
    I think you need to navigate to the Folder when you want to save. If you are saving documents created in Word, after a while Word may learn the location and go there.
    Incidentally, the folder in the Dock was created and resides elsewhere. That is where you will need to navigate to when you save.
    Good luck.

    Then you will need to search for a 3rd party program to transfer content
    Pasted from another thread
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2234756?start=0&tstart=0
    One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
    Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola and iDump andiPodRobot.
    If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
    iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
    There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.
    More information is contained here.

  • How do you open a new document from the template chooser?

    Hi There,
    Since upgrading to Yosemite, I can't find the option to open a new document from the template chooser. When I type in "template" in the help box it shows it under "file" But when I click on "File" I don't see that option.
    Basically, I'm trying to ask how do you access the templates in the new pages?
    Thanks so much

    Check your preferences and make sure Show Template Chooser is selected:
    Then just choose New from the File menu.

    Hi, I would like to know how can I recover a document from pages that I didn't save anytime and instead of saving the doc I clicked the delete button. Is there any way to recover it?

    Regardless of application, the first step that I take is to save and name the current document — even if it has no content yet. With Pages, this good habit enables autosave. As you add content, your document revision history is restorable via the File Revert To menu. The delete key has the same document foreboding as only teaching a pet raven to speak "Nevermore."

  • How to download a file version from office 365 using csom

    I need to download an older file version from office 365 and get the data into a byte array. I have no trouble downloading the latest version with File.OpenBinaryStream() and I have no trouble loading the previous file versions with File.Versions. But now
    I need to actually download an older version of the file and it seems the only way is to use File.OpenBinaryDirect. So I am creating a client context using my oAuth access token and providing the correct path, but I am getting a (401) Unauthorized
    error. Looking with Fiddler I can see that the call to OpenBinaryDirect is somehow trying to post to my file URL and the server is responding with 401.
    context = TokenHelper.GetClientContextWithAccessToken(SPHostUrl, AccessToken);
    FileInformation info = File.OpenBinaryDirect(context, "/" + _fileVersion.Url);  //throws 401
    //leading slash required otherwise ArgumentOutOfRangeException
    I have to be able to access the older file versions with my c# code -- I don't have a viable app without that ability -- any help urgently needed and greatly appreciated!

    Thank you SO much (Can't wait for the next release)!

  • I can't save *new* documents back to SharePoint

    I can’t save *new* documents back to SharePoint. We have a SharePoint 2013 development environment, running on Windows Server 2012 and a Windows 7 Client Computer with Office 2010.
    Every time I click „new document“, SharePoint opens the corresponding template file in the client application (Word, Excel,…) So far, so good. When i select „Save“, the client application brings up a local save path on the client computer, not the SharePoint
    document library.
    I did some research and tried many approaches, but none of them worked.
    I installed the Desktop Experience Feature on the Windows Server 2012, added the server address to trusted sites, gave the user farm-administrator rights (to make sure it is no security problem) and switched the authentication mode for the web application.
    Does anyone know this problem and found a solution?

    Hi,
    For troubleshooting your issue, you can try to add a registry value to your local registry (on a machine with Office Applications installed through which you are accessing SharePoint sites):
    Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
    Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WebClient\Parameters
    On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Multi-String Value.
    Type AuthForwardServerList, and then press ENTER.
    On the Edit menu, click Modify.
    In the Value data box, type the URL of the server that hosts the Web share, and then click OK.
    Note You can also type a list of URLs in the Value data box. For more information, see the "Sample URL list" section in this article.
    Exit Registry Editor.

  • How can I change a document from booklet to single pages

    How can I change a document from booklet to single pages?

    Very cumbersome.
    How many pages?
    Make a copy first.
    In Acrobat use the Crop tool to crop half the width. (Pages > Crop Pages.)
    For 11x17 to 8.5 x11  crop all even pages 8.5 left, all odd pages 8.5 right.
    Do you have InDesign?
    Create a new document correct to finished page size.
    (Use Import Multi Page script to) Place all pages offset by the proper page amount.
    Export new pdf.

  • How to create an XML document from a String.

    Can anyone help,
         In the Microsoft XML Document DOM there is a load function load(string) which will create an XML document, but now we are switching to Java and I do not know how to create and XML document from a string, this string xml document is passed to my program from a webservice and I need to read several xml elements form it in a web server.
    This string is a well formatted XML document:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <Countries NumberOfRecords="1" LanguageID="en-us">
         <Country>
              <CountryCode>AU</CountryCode>
              <CountryName>AUSTRALIA</CountryName>
         </Country>
    </Countries>

    Thanks PC!
    I made it work using:
    DocumentBuilderFactory factory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
    DocumentBuilder builder = factory.newDocumentBuilder();
    factory.setIgnoringComments(true); // We want to ignore comments
    // Now use the factory to create a DOM parser
    DocumentBuilder parser = factory.newDocumentBuilder();
    //TransformThisStringBuffer is a string buffer wich contain the 'XML document (String)'
    InputStream in = new ByteArrayInputStream(TransformThisStringBuffer.toString().getBytes());
    // Parse the InputStream and build the document
    Document document = parser.parse(in);
    But which one is faster InputSource or InputStream, were would you put the "new InputSource(new StringReader(yourString))" in the above code?
