Assuming this is not the first time you have used your Apple TV
        1.    You might try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
        2.    Also try restarting the router.
        3.    If the problem persists, try a restore, you may want to try the previous procedures several times before doing this.
If this is a new Apple TV, it may also be that your network router is not allowing access to the timeserver, check that your router allows access over port 123.

Cannot set network date and time using apple tv

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Assuming this is not the first time you have used your Apple TV
You might try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Also try restarting the router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
If the problem persists, try a restore, you may want to try the previous procedures several times before doing this.
If restoring from the Apple TV doesn't help, try restoring from iTunes using a USB cable.
If this is a new Apple TV, in addition to trying the above, it may also be that your network router is not allowing access to the timeserver, check that your router allows access over port 123.

  • HT3180 setting date and time - my apple tv get stuck and says it needs to set the network date and time.  Does anyone know how to do this?

My apple tv gets stuck and says it need to set the date and time on the network.  Does anyone know how to do this?

I was able to get my Apple TV working again by downgrading the firmware following the instructions in this message:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/20008613#20008613
In case that message disappears, here's my translation:
    1. Connect your Apple TV to your computer via USB. Don't plug in the power cable.
    2. Download the older 5.0.2 firmware from Apple here:
    5.0.2 (Apple TV 2): AppleTV2,1_5.0.2_9B830_Restore.ipsw
    5.0.2 (Apple TV 3): AppleTV3,1_5.0.2_9B830_Restore.ipsw
    3. Open iTunes and select the Apple TV. Hold down the option key and press the restore button at the same time.
    4. In the dialog that opens select the firmware that you downloaded.
    5. The restore process will take a few minutes. Once it's done plug your Apple TV back into your TV. If the date and time message persists just press the menu button to skip it. This got mine working again.

  • Automatically Setting Date and Time - How often does it occur?

Can anyone tell me exactly when Mac OS X retrieves the date and time from Apple's time server? Quite often, the time on my Mac is several seconds out from the correct time. When I open the "Date and Time Preferences", it seems to sync up with the correct time and everything is good.
Is there any way to schedule when Mac OS X automatically sets the time, or how frequently over the course of a day it sets the time? Or, alternatively, does anyone know of a utility that I can use to accomplish this?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
iMac 1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Hi Barry,
    Thanks for your reply.
I have a wristwatch that receives a radio signal which transmits the correct date and time from an atomic clock in Fort Boulder, Colorado. The watch automatically picks up this signal three times a day (in the early morning so as to get the correct time once we go on/off DST) and sets my watch to it. So my watch is always accurate (so long as it can receive this signal). I have an alarm clock that uses the same principle. It's actually kinda nice...I can look at my watch and KNOW I have the right time!
At any rate, that's how I know my Mac's clock is out a few seconds...I just check it to my watch.
The real reason I would like to be able to schedule this function (or, at least have it occur more often) is so my Palm TX gets the correct time from my Mac each morning. I automatically sync it to my Mac every morning, and one of the conduits actually synchronizes the Palm clock to the one on my Mac.
I'm just curious to find out when exactly Mac OS X sets the clock. Does it happen once a day? Once a week? I haven't had my Mac for all that long, so I do not know what will happen when we go off DST this spring. Will OS X (based on the date) just bump up its clock by one hour, or will it actually get the correct time from Apple's time server and sync the Mac clock to it?
And, if there's no way the change when this happens or the frequency with which it occurs, is there anyone out there who has written a utility which can do this?
What about Automator? I'm new to the Mac world, so I am just learning about all this stuff. When I open the Date and Time System Preferences, the clock seems to sync up at that point. Could I use Automator to do this?
As always, any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks again for your reply, Barry!

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
It's not related to any hacking.
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
        1.    Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
        2.    Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
        3.    Restart your router.
        4.    Reset the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings)
        5.    Restore the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Restore)

  • How do I change the "Set Date and Time Automatically" server

Is there a way to change System Preferences/Date & Time/Date & Time/Set date and time automatically from "Apple Americas/U.S. (time.apple.com)" to another time server instead?

    sig wrote:
The menu has a drop down. But if you know the address of another time server I would think you can type it in.
Yeah, that's not really a menu, but a "combo box", which is a combination of an edit field and pop-up menu. So you can choose from existing items or just type in whatever time server you want.

  • "RT Set date and time" does not set seconds in UTC mode

    Hallo,
I tried to set the time on my cRio 9012 with the function settimeUTC which is used by the "Set Date and Time" vi. But the seconds I enter are ADDED to the current time and not set as new value.
Even the vi shows this behaviour: I set up a vi in which the time is set in a loop (100ms delay) and read again. When I set local time the clock stops (as expected) but when I set the UTC time the seconds keep on running...
Can anybody help me with that problem???
    Thanks
    Florian
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Andreas,
well it does not matter if I set a time zone in the MAX or not. In my example I was working on UTC + 0 but even when I set it to my local time (UTC + 1) I get the same behaviour modified by one hour.
My LabView Version is 8.5. In in the MAX under Software-> LabView-RealTime it says that I am using 8.5.0.
I suspect  that the settime.out which is installed on the cRio is probably the root of the problem as VxWorks itself does not offer a function (at least I did not find one) to convert from broken down system time to system time in seconds. There only exist one to convert from broken down local time to system time in seconds ( mktime() ). The reverse function is available for both cases: gmtime() and localtime(). I also did not find a way to find out the offset of the local time. So I have to use the library function settimeUTC() from settime.out.
As I offered I can send you the settime.out file from my cRio for reference or maybe you can tell me how to find out what the version of the file is. It seems not to be an ELF file as I looked inside it to find some timestamp or version info...
    Thanks so far

  • Geting and setting date and time in oracle using jdbc

can u send me a sample snippet which shows me how to set date and time to a column in oracle database where the column datatype is date.
and also send me the sample code to get the date and time from the above said column
    thanks in advance

If you want DATE with time normalized to midnight, use java.sql.Date. If you really want time, with hours/minutes/seconds/millis, use java.sql.Timestamp.
As for the best way to interact with the database, use java.sql.PreparedStatement and its get/setDate and get/setTimestamp methods. Those will escape dates for you properly.
Look for a JDBC tutorial on-line to see how to do this, or http://www.javaalmanac.com for the java.sql package examples.
