How do I set up multiple iMessage accounts using one apple ID?

We want to set up a new account for a family member to use some limited texting using an iPod.  We have one family apple ID and would like to add the new account under that Apple ID. How do we do that?  Thanks for any suggestions.

  • How do I set up multiple iMessage emails with one Apple ID?

We have one Apple ID and many family members with iPads, iPhones etc... As it stands we all receive all incoming imessages and this is impracticle moving forward.
Other than setting up multiple Apple ID's how do we set up each user with an individual iMessage address?
I understand how to do this using a phone numbers but cannot stop all users getting imessages sent to the Apple ID email address. I have tried inputting secondary email addresses but get error messages advising "account already in use".
Long story short.....Can I set up all family devices on the one apple ID but designate each member with an individual email address that precludes them from receiving iMessages sent to the "master" Apple ID address?
    Phew
    Thanks

To my knowledge, yes, this is impossible.  Your primary iMessage account is your AppleID account, so as long as you all share the one AppleID, then all messages will appear on all iOS 5 devices using that AppleID for their iMessage account.
The only thing to do is have people set up their own iMessage ID.  They can stil then set up unique "receive at" addresses, but these are really additional addresses for messages to go to, and do not get around the fact that the account itself is defined by the AppleID.
P.S. there is nothing stopping you from using the one, common AppleID for the iTunes and app store, then setting up a new one and just using that for iMessage.

  • How do I set up multiple iCloud accounts on one Apple ID?

My whole family uses the same Apple ID, but we all want separate iCloud accounts, because I keep on getting contacts from my children's iPhones and iPads. They want accounts between their iPads and iPhones, but I want a separate iCloud. How do they set up a new iCloud on their devices (they don't have Macs)?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
An apple ID is an account. If your family require that their contacts, calendars etc are separate from each other, they all need their own Apple ID (account).
iCloud is a different service from iTunes, you can all use different Apple IDs for your iCloud service, would use the same ID for iTunes, thereby being able to share your music, apps, books, TV shows and movies et cetera.

  • How to Configure iCloud with multiple iCloud accounts and one apple id

I need some help from the icloud experts. I almost have my arms around this, but not completely.
What I want to end up with is the following:
One account that both my wife and I use for shared contacts, calendars, photostream and find my device.
Separate account for my email among several devices.
Separate account for my wife for her email among several devices.
Now what I curently have is an apple id (*.mac.com), which is the main account used for purchases, etc. It has my mail, backups, and 25GB of space as a result from MobileMe.
I created a separate icloud account for my wife, using her Apple ID, so that her mail stayed separate from mine. However, now we have separate photo streams, contacts, etc, which is getting confusing and cumbersome.
I would like to keep my apple id as the main account since it already has the 25GB of space. So tell me if the following make sense.
I setup the master account using my apple id (the one with 25GB of space) for both of us, and enable the contacts and calendar syncing for all of our devices.
I turn the mail and Safari bookmarks syncing on for my devices; but turn it off  for my wife's devices.
Then I use my wife's account on her devices to sync her mail, bookmarks, etc.
Would this work or is there another combination to use? Ideally a family oriented apple id would be good for the master account, but it wouldn't have the 25GB of space unless I purchased it. I'm trying to get around that if possible. I have tried to find something like this on the discussion boards but haven't had luck yet.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Set up your mac.com account again on devices.  Turn off Mail and other data syncing with this account on your wife's devices for data that you want to keep separate.  Then set up a second ("secondary") iCloud account on your wife's devices to sync Mail.
If you already set up a separate iCloud account on your wife's devices, on her devices go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in your your mac.com ID.  Turn on the data you want to share with this account across all devices; don't turn Mail on.  Then go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Add Account>iCloud and enter her separate iCloud credentials and turn Mail to On.
The only downside to this approach is that her email will be fetch, not push email.  Push email is only supported in the main ("primary") account, not a secondary account.
The limitations to be aware of with secondary accounts are that only the primary account can be used for Photo Stream, Bookmarks, Documents, iCloud Backup and Find My Device.  Also, push mail only works for the primary account; secondary account mail is fetch.

  • 2 iphone 5's, 1 itunes account to share music; how do you set up 2 icloud accounts using one MacBookPro?

My wife and I each purchased the iphone 5 and we share an itunes account. How do I sync our iphones to our MacBookPro so we each have our own iCloud account (contacts, calendars, etc.)? We want to be able to share the itunes music on our computer.

If you are sycing your contacts and calendars with iCloud, don't sync them with your computer using iTunes.  If you sync with both iCloud and iTunes this will cause duplicates.  If you want to keep your contacts, calendar, etc. separated rather than merged, be sure to set up separate iCloud accounts on both phones using different Apple IDs.  You can continue to share the same Apple ID for purchasing music, apps, etc.; it does not need to be the same as the ID you use for iCloud, iMessage or other services.
In terms of syncing your music and other non-iCloud data with the same computer, this article will explain different options depending on how you want to set it up: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495.

  • How can I set up multiple email accounts in one folder in Thunderbird?

    Hello; first time poster here.
I own a business that has several email accounts. I am trying to create a folder (titled my business name), then set up all of the email accounts for my business so they all are in that one folder. I have tried for two days to figure this out and can't seem to do it.
I have been using Outlook, but it has too many whistles and bells and is way to slow, so I thought I'd give TB a try.
Can anyone explain IF this is possible, and if so, how can I do it?
Thanks in advance for any and all assistance.

  • How do i set up multiple iCloud accounts on the same mac?

how do i set up multiple iCloud accounts on the same mac?

Interesting - I was sure I'd seen a note somewhere that it was only Mail, but this article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4020
    does say
Your secondary iCloud accounts can be set up and viewed in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars on your iOS device, or Apple () menu > System Preferences > Mail, Contacts, Calendars on OS X Lion. You may choose to do this if you have a second iCloud account and need to access its Mail, Contacts, or Calendar data.
Note: While you can configure multiple iCloud Mail accounts in iOS, Push mail will only work for the primary iCloud account in iOS. Secondary account(s) will check for mail based on the settings in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data.
It's not something I can test - I suppose the second account's data gets added to the lists in iCal and Address Book?

The iPad mini is basically a one user device. There are no Accounts. You can set up restrictions so that only you can do certain things.

  • HT5620 How can I set up two separate accounts on one iPad?

How can I set up two separate accounts on one shared iPad?

The iPad is meant to be a single user device.
It is possible to use multiple ID's on an iOS device, but when you switch ID's and download content with another ID, you associate the device with that ID for 90 days and lock yourself out of the other ID for that 90 day period.
So while it is possible, it's not advisable.
