How do I stop games from syncing across multiple devices?

Hi there,
My kids all have their own ipads (super big blessing from a grandparent).  My husband and I each have one as well.  We like to play some of the same games, and sometimes the game progress syncs between our devices.  Eg. We like to play Disney's Frozen Free Fall game, and for some reason, my ipad doesn't sync to my husband's.  When my kids asked for the game on their ipads, however, the games automatically synced to my husband's, so I didn't let them keep it (I didn't want them using all his items/lives).
My kids all like to play Angry Birds Transformers, and with the latest update to that game, their games are all suddenly connected to each other (they all have the same characters, number of gems, etc.).
How do these games sync (game center, icloud, etc.)?  Does anyone know how to disable the feature so that our games do not sync across multiple devices?  I would like us to not be sharing the same game progress.  We all share one itunes account.
Thanks so much!
(If it helps, I have the ipad2, my kids have ipad mini 2's, and my husband has the ipad air.)

We all share one itunes account.
This would  be why the syncing occurs. Until a more knowledgeable person comes   by ...
You can have one, two or three apple id accounts per idevice. Assign a second apple id to all the kids machines. Same or multiple apple ids. depending on how you want the game to act. Does a family account differ?  delete the game from the current apple id.  Install the game on the new apple id ( or apple ids ).
Look into family sharing:

You linked them both to the same Apple ID and thence to the same iCloud account.  Don't do that.

Change the options on the Photos tab when the device is connected to iTunes, and on the device review your options under Settings > iCloud > Photos.

  • How do you stop audiobooks from syncing to apple tv?

I'm syncing to my apple tv and I do not see an option to stop audio books from syncing.  How do I stop audiobooks from syncing to my apple tv?  Thanks!

    Open iTunes.
    Select the device.
Select the content desired to sync.
    Sync.
FYI, only the 1st Gen ATV has any content sync to it.  The 2nd and 3rd Gen ATVs have no internal storage to store content.

I have an tsql script that I want to run across a list of databases. How is the best way to do this in Powershell? Thanks.

My example below, using just the SMO and not breaking up the batches, the ExecuteWithResults give the following error when the .sql file contains a GO. My script files are as simple as a DECLARE and then a GO.

  • How do I stop Firefox from syncing my Downloads list from my other devices?

Like many users I use Firefox Sync to synchronize my bookmarks and addons and a few other things across multiple devices, but lately I've noticed that it is syncing my download history as well, which really makes no sense to do since the file paths are going to be invalid on any but the original device the files were downloaded on. What I'd like to know is if there is a way to turn off only the download history sync but keep the rest of the sync features active? If it matters at all, I use Firefox on one other Linux system besides the one I'm writing this on and on a Windows 7 system as well, with all 3 computers using the same Firefox Sync account to sync everything. I had to remove the Troubleshooting Information in order to be able to post this since with it included the post had 43,234 characters (site won't let me post with more than 30,000). If it's vital to have that information I can try to figure out a way to post it maybe to a pastebin site of some sort.

Thanks for replying cor-el but I'd really prefer to leave the syncing of the other history items enabled, there's actually at least somewhat of a valid reason to have them still enabled and available when accessing firefox on a secondary device, not necessarily true of the Download history though really for the very reason I already stated regarding the file path validity issue. This is one item where I think we really should have at the very least an about:config entry to toggle syncing for the particular item. If not actually a sub-section under the checkbox that lets us choose to enable history syncing that would give us the option to enable/disable syncing of specific types of history data.

  • Syncing Across Multiple Devices Simply Doesn't Work

I use an iMac for work, iPhone, iPad and MacBook. I use iCal with multiple calendars (some with repeating events) and sync across all devices via Mobile Me.
My MacBook always seems to have problems with showing the most updated changes. It almost always shows old events which have been deleted on my iMac already. The only way to fix so far is to Reset Sync Data and replace data on my MacBook with data from Mobile Me cloud.
I know I'm not the only one with this issue. Everyone is saying that iCal basically *****, especially for syncing. I'd like to believe otherwise.
    Appreciate any help. Thank you.

I only have two screens, and the second one is not even full.
I might as well explain you my trouble:
When I sync, it appears as if the iPhone would not recognize the apps, even when I try to sync only the ones that have the problems, they wouldn´t sync.
    How come?
There are other applications I have downloaded, where it says, that it won't work with my iPhone due to country permits. whatever, but there's a reason, here I get no reason at all.
I'd be glad if you have any answers.

  • IMessage not syncing across multiple devices

    Hi All,
I have recently got on iPhone 4S as well as my exisiting iPad 1. My wife also has an iPad 2. All these devices have been updated sucesssfully to iOS 5.
We have one central iTunes account (mine) that gets used to purchase apps and music from iTunes - nothing out of the ordinary there.
We also have two iCloud accounts for use with our own devices (mine on the iPad1 and iPhone - my wife has one for her iPad2).
On the face of it - we can message back and forth ok apart from one small problem. Any conversation I start on the iPad will get duplicated to the iPhone but wont show any replies - these all go to the iPhone. So I'm basically looking at a one sided conversation from the iPad point of view.
Any conversation started on the iPhone just doesnt show up on the iPad at all.
I've found several posts (all based on the same theme) that suggests that I change the caller ID to the apple (iCloud) account on the phone and also 'reconfirm' the settings on the iPad.
This I have done several times but with no joy. I get the feeling that the sync between multiple devices isnt quite there yet.
Has anyone else come up against this in here - and if so - how did you fix it.
    Thanks
    Wayne.

The feature really doesn't work very well yet. Most likely a future update will fix it or at least make it more obvious why it doesn't behave consistently.
For what it's worth, after following the caller ID instructions that you have tried, it took about a day for syncing to start working but some conversations and messages still never show up on my iPad.
Not much we can do but wait for iOS 5.1 I'm afraid. No doubt apple are aware of the issue at this point.

  • How do I stop Firefox from syncing to my iOS tablet

i want to stop Firefox syncing with my iPad. Every time I use Firefox on my PC it messes up the bookmarks I have on iPad. The latest PC Firefox update wiped them out all together on the iPad! I am now fearful of using Firefox on the PC. How do I prevent this from happening in the future?

Firefox Sync occasionally has problems with syncing bookmarks. That is most likely on a slow connection, or when there are a lot of changes. You should not become over-reliant on Sync's bookmarks and I would recommend always having manaul backup if you use Sync for that.
Remember Sync will now only merge, there is no directional option. If you opt to Sync bookmarks it will try to make the pc & tablet listing identical. You may turn off Sync on the Tablet or just the bookmarks sync. See

  • How can I STOP mail from syncing with .mac????

I don't have a .mac account, I will never have a .mac account, I have in mail prefs BOTH boxes under "synchronize with other computers using .mac" unchecked, and yet Mac Mail tries to tie up my entire system "synchronizing with .mac" all the time, especially when traffic is heavy (downloading or uploading). I've got activity viewer on and the stop sign is ghosted, there appears to be no way to stop Mail from doing this useless tie up time wasting process that manages to completely freeze up mail until it's completed and sometimes slow up other programs as well. I only have POP accounts, no IMAP accounts that have to be synced.
This didn't start happening until I upgraded to 10.4.11. Prior to that Mail blazed through everything, and it NEVER tried to sync with .mac.
Is there any way to turn this useless "feature" (for me) OFF?
    Thanks!

I was on Tiger earlier, but just got home to a Leopard machine... and a power outage during the day seems to have blown my Tiger's Monitor, but look for...
    /Users/bd/Library/Application Support/SyncServices/Local/clientdata/com.apple.DotMacSync
I'd try dragging the whole folder, if it exists...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Application Support/SyncServices
to the Desktop & reboot, we can always move it back if need be.
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.DotMacSync.<ethernet MAC address>.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.DotMacSync.plist
are both other good choices to drag to the desktop.
We might even have to go in and Copy this to the Desktop then Trash the originl...

  • How do you stop ITunes from syncing automatically every time I attach a device?

I have the option box checked that is supposed to stop devices from syncing automatically, yet ITunes STILL insists on syncing the devices automatically and overwriting gigabytes of data.  I've had to spend hours finding everything again after ITunes has synced when I don't want it to.  Needless to say, this is INCREDIBLY frustrating.

I no longer need an answer to this question. I didn't directly solve the problem but it solved when I was fixing something else.

  • How do I stop iTunes from syncing my gmail emails to my iPhone 4S?

I tried deselecting my gmails from the list from the "Info" tab in iTunes, hit the "Apply" button and after a while the gmails on the list are selected and greyed out. The gmails show up in my iPhone 4S running the latest software. Any way to stop this from happening?

on the iPhone select Preferences > Mail,Contacts, Calender.
Remove your gmail account from the accounts list. This will stop it appearing on the phone but not affect anything else

  • How do I stop iCloud from sharing with other devices on my apple i.d?

My kids and I all share the one Apple i.d as they are young. I have just upgraded my iphone (to iphone 4) and I'm setting up iCloud for the first time. I have absolutely no idea how to use it.
I use my Calendar a lot, for all my appointments etc.
How do I prevent iCloud from sharing my Calendar, photos, messages, emails and everything else with my kids iphone and ipad? Some things are best kept private!
I have gone into settings, iCloud and tunred mail, calendar, contacts, photos and nearly everything to OFF. Will tha take care of the problem? Will iCloud still work on my phone then?

Yes, that should work. But let me ask one question, why do you set up your iCloud on your kids devices? If you share your Apple ID for store purchases (Apps, Music, Movies etc.) then just set it up in "Settings > iTunes & App Stores". Your kids do not need your iCloud account on their devices to get access to your media.

  • How do you continue an iMessage conversation across multiple devices?

I don't understand how to continue a discussion from one device to another. I have the same email address in my iMessage settings on my iPhone and my iPad but I can't see the conversation on my iPad as I would have expected.

Here's a step-by-step, some/all of this you may already have done, just check through it first, then if it's still not working post a reply...
On your iPad, go to Settings app, select Messages. Check that iMessage is turned on.
The 'Receive At' address should be your Apple ID email address. If not, change it to be that.
On your iPhone, also go to Settings, Messages. iMessage should be turned on there too.
For messages to sync, this must be the same email address as your iPad, i.e. your Apple ID email.
In 'Caller ID', set this as the email address, NOT your phone number.
Try sending a message to a friend (who has iMessage enabled) from your iPad, then send a message to them from your iPhone.  (Some users suggest first deleting any previous message threads from this person, other say it won't matter either way. I did delete mine first.)
When anyone with iMessage sends YOU a message, they must choose your email address (your Apple ID one) to send to, not your phone number. (i.e. in Contacts on their iPhone for example, they should add your email address there if they don't already have it entered.) If someone from their iPhone sends you a message to your phone number for example, it will only appear on your phone, not on your iPad.

  • How do I stop iSync from syncing address cards with no telephone mnumber ?

I sync my Nokia to my Mac using iSync 2.3. I used a smart group made from email domain names to sync with my phone. IN this group are a number of address cards with no telephone numbers. How can I either delete them automatically, or disallow them from being synced to my phone ?

First, make sure that iSync isn't running.
Then, choose "Go > Go to Folder..." in the Finder and copy and paste the following into the dialog box that appears:
    /Applications/iSync.app/Contents/PlugIns/ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice/Contents/P lugIns/Motorola-K1.phoneplugin/Contents/Resources/
A window will open. Now, open the "PhoneConduit.plist" file in that window into TextEdit.
    Do a search for "charsToKeep"
In the line below the one it finds it should read:
    <string>0123456789+#*</string>
    change it to:
    <string>0123456789+#*p,</string>
(adding in the p and , characters) and save the file.
Quit and the reload iSync and sync. It will no longer strip the p and comma characters.
Apple obviously doesn't know that those characters can be accepted by the phone.
