Yes, that should work. But let me ask one question, why do you set up your iCloud on your kids devices? If you share your Apple ID for store purchases (Apps, Music, Movies etc.) then just set it up in "Settings > iTunes & App Stores". Your kids do not need your iCloud account on their devices to get access to your media.

How can I STOP mail from syncing with .mac????

I don't have a .mac account, I will never have a .mac account, I have in mail prefs BOTH boxes under "synchronize with other computers using .mac" unchecked, and yet Mac Mail tries to tie up my entire system "synchronizing with .mac" all the time, especially when traffic is heavy (downloading or uploading). I've got activity viewer on and the stop sign is ghosted, there appears to be no way to stop Mail from doing this useless tie up time wasting process that manages to completely freeze up mail until it's completed and sometimes slow up other programs as well. I only have POP accounts, no IMAP accounts that have to be synced.
This didn't start happening until I upgraded to 10.4.11. Prior to that Mail blazed through everything, and it NEVER tried to sync with .mac.
Is there any way to turn this useless "feature" (for me) OFF?

I'd try dragging the whole folder, if it exists...

to the Desktop & reboot, we can always move it back if need be.
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.DotMacSync.<ethernet MAC address>.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.DotMacSync.plist
are both other good choices to drag to the desktop.
We might even have to go in and Copy this to the Desktop then Trash the originl...

Go to Settings>iCloud and turn off Contacts and PhotoStream. Note that will off yo will not be able to add contacts on that iPod.. Also note that with Calendar and Notes are on those items will sync between the two devices.

Hi srabon,
For giving unique access for a specific file in a library, you can go to the library, and select the file , and click FILES->Shared With->ADVANCED, under PERMISSION ribbon, click ‘Stop Inheriting Permissions’, then the file will have unique permissions.
For removing the shared users for a file, firstly, like the above steps, select the file , and click FILES->Shared With->ADVANCED , make sure the file has unique access, then select the users that you want to remove, and click Remove User Persmissions
under PERMISSIONS ribbon.

Where do I set up iPhone from NOT erasing data from the server?
I use Hotmail, and have had an iPhone 3 for 3,5 years. When I deleted mails on the iPhone, they would still appear in the mailbox if I logged on to my Hotmail on any computer, and vice versa.
Now I have bought an iPhone 4S, and it doesn't work the same at all!! If I delete something on Hotmail being logged in from a computer, it will delete it also on the iPhone, and vice versa. Mega-irritating!! Can't find any settings for it either, having looked both on Hotmail settings and on iPhone settings.
Someone, please help!

I am getting targeted ads on Yahoo web pages. Firefox is supplying the data to Yahoo. I want this stopped. Is it possible or do I have to dump Firefox? Do Not Track is enabled.

As of Dec 1, 2014 Yahoo is the preferred default search engine for Firefox in the USA, but the user is free to select a different "default" for their Firefox installation. I truly doubt that Yahoo is tracking your searches via a search engine that is in Firefox. If in fact Yahoo '''is''' tracking you I would expect it to be done via that Yahoo Application State Plugin - but I can't say for sure.

I've been searching around the web for answers as to how to turn on my iPhone 3GS. It is 3.1.2, if that matters. Mostly, I've found that people say to hold the power and home button for 10 seconds, but that doesn't work for me. The screen turns black, I turn it back on, and it's stuck at the Apple logo for the 1234th time. My friend jailbroke it once for me, but all of my apps are legit -- I haven't downloaded any apps from Cydia. I have all the iTunes emails to prove it. My phone won't do anything but show that it's low battery, stop at the apple screen, or stay at the black screen when it's off. What am I supposed to do? The iPhone won't even show up on iTunes, either. I've tried using both the computer and regular outlets to turn the iPhone on without success. The Apple support doesn't help either... Any help?

This has been a recurring issue for me for the past two weeks. Since I've had my iPhone for 9 months with no prior problems, I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the 3.1.2 patch. It seems to happen when I use the search screen on the iPhone.
To get you iPhone working again you'll have to put it in recovery mode and do a restore. You can find instructions online, but none of them are clear enough so it took me a while to figure out how to activate this recovery mode.
1. Quit iTunes
2. Disconnect dock/usb connector from iPhone and from computer
3. Turn off iPhone by holding home and power buttons (the iPhone will either turn off completely or reboot, leaving you stuck at the Apple logo again. either outcome is fine.)
4. Reconnect the iPhone to the computer with dock/usb cable
5. Hold the home and power buttons again for about **1 minute**
6. At some point, the iPhone should show Connect to iTunes (otherwise, try repeating these steps again until you get this screen.)
7. Now launch iTunes, which should tell you your iPhone is in recover mode and and to be restored. Click restore and find something to do for the next few hours.
As I type this, I'm in the process of restoring my iPhone for the THIRD time. I hope you fair better.

In iimessages go to Send and Receive, uncheck your phone number on the iPad. I just did and my messages aren't linked together now :)

How do I stop files from downloading with the itunes symbol?

Yes, I'm trying to download something to without it automatically using itunes as default or the itunes symbol.
I have gone to tools>options>applications and that doesn't seem to work. Even when it asks me what program to use and I choose winzip the download is STILL itunes.
Very very... very frustrated that i cannot even seem to do such a basic thing as change my default download options. I was able to in previous firefox versions but do not recall what i did, or maybe it has changed in newer versions and I am not any longer able to for some reason?
Tbh because I purchase and download quite a bit of music and other different files online this may prove to be a deal breaker and I am considering for the first time since Netscape recommended I use firefox changing to chrome or microsoft explorer or whatever the other browswers are.

I open DreamWeaver and all is fine. I only use code view.
As I work I might open .cfm files, or even (it seems) open a browser - and when I return to writing my code, when I type " Dreamweaver types È

The only way to stop is is close Dreamweaver and reopen. Then the coding works great for that file until I visit another file I opend or even a browser that was open. It's not every file that I open or page that I visit. I've yet to determine what is happening.
It feels like dreamweaver is somehow changing character sets.
For example, DreamWeaver is currently messed up replacing characters, but it works fine filling out this post.

I used to use a password to protect my iPhone but I turned it off because it really slowed me down.
Under General I set Passcode Lock to OFF. I set the Auto-Lock to NEVER.
But every time I touch the phone icon I get this message: PASSWORD INCORRECT Enter voicemail Password. I can't make calls or do anything unless I type CANCEL. But now I can't use my visual voicemail any more. Because of this I have been missing a lot of calls.

Its actually asking for the password you set up when you created your voicemail on the iPhone. If you enter that voicemail password correctly, that prompt should go away and you should be able to access your voicemail as well. If you don't remember that password, dial 611 from your iPhone and choose option 3 ( I think ) and it will let you reset the password.

I have a iPhone 4 and on some albums when i go to play the song it justs skips to the next song. But, if im quick and can drag the slider so it skips to like 3 seconds in, it will then play the song! Possible fix:
Had this annoying issue, or similar. Songs on my iphone 4 would skip untilit found a song it could play, but often left up on the screen a different song to the one playing. It appeared songs hadnt been transferred or were missing causingthe phone to skip the songs.
I heard that if you get a 'weird' beep noise this is the 'shake to shuffle' feature which can be turned off via Settings>Music.
If you have a similar issue to mine, I read converting to AAC (right click song in Itunes and choose 'convert to AAC) could work, and did for me, but is time consuming and duplicates the song.
What worked for me? Turning off 'convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC' on the Devices>Your Iphone main menu (device summary page). This reloads all songs to the iphone and appears to fix the issue. I have checked a few songs I knew had issues and they now work, and I can get through 10+ shuffle songs (thats as many as I checked) without a skip.

How do I stop iTunes from starting with Windows?

Hi there.
After installing iTunes 7, it launches with Windows despite there being no registry entries or Startup folder entries. I also can't find any preference settings in iTunes to change this. I don't want iTunes starting with Windows as it's a CPU hot and system drag as it is without it slowing down my startup.
What's even more odd I find is that, if for whatever reason iTunes does NOT start with Windows, I don't have an Internet connection. It's strange but the connection between the two is absolute. If I reboot and iTunes starts with Windows, I have my Internet back.
Any suggestions? I can't find anything through searches. I've also checked for viruses, spyware, backdoors, etc.
