How do I stop launchd from starting a daemon that doesn't exist?

A while back I downloaded OpenDrive. I never used it and trashed it. However, every once in a while my iMac gets sluggish or otherwise acts up. I run Console to see what's going on and it appears that launchd is trying to start OpenDrive.I then do a search for pieces of OpenDrive that got left behind, but now and then the problem reappears.
How do I stop this forever? I looked around the Communities and found someone with the same issue, but he solved it bit didn't know what he did.
I have searched, and cannot find anything anywhere on my hard drive to delete.
I tried pasting the Console message but it won't paste. It says something like "com.geeNian.ShellExt.Daemon.plist [1358] posix_spawn, .... no such file or directory

What is the Terminal commands to remove via launchctl?
There was no supplied uninstaller, unfortunately.
OpenDrive is that software that refuses to go quietly into the night. I trashed it using either AppCleaner or TrashMe, both of which search for related files and comprehensively delte the software. They don't always get everything, though.
But the flippin' thing refuses to die, periodically showing up in attempts to run and buggering up the iMac. Console gets spammed, I spend hours on search-and-destroy missions looking for remnants of it. I find them, get rid of them, and all is well, for a few months. And then.... it's baaaaaaaaaaaaaccckkkkk!!!!!!!
That's why I also asked if there's a way to find anything and everything related to it on the system. I have EasyFind, iFileX and something else I can't remember. They haven't been able to find anything except for Console messages and emails.

You cannot open the application "iTunes" because another user has it open.
Ask the other user to quit the application, then try again.

Firefox opens with a window that says "Checking for compatibility for Add-ons" then it always opens 2 tabs... one with my home page and one that says Congratulations, Firefox is up

    Hi konee,
You should look at [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Firefox+has+just+updated+tab+shows+each+time+you+start+Firefox this article about that specific issue] and the article [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Preferences_not_saved Preferences not saved]. These should give you all the information you need!
    If that doesn't work:
    # Type about:config in the address bar
    # Click ''I'll be careful, I promise'' if prompted
    # In the Filter input field type ''startup''
    # Double click on startup.homepage_override_url
    # Delete the text string and click ''OK''
    # Close Firefox and reopen the window to verify that it has worked.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • How do I stop Launchd from opening so many other processes?

My computer has been running slow for some time even with without any applications open. On a whim, I created a new login account and it runs lickety split. I compared the Activity Monitor of both accounts and the old account is running 40 other processes associated with Launchd. One that has me baffled is called MAFL which is running PowerPC. It says the parent process is Launchd. When I try to quit MAFL it just won't quit. I searched on my computer and there is nothing called MAFL. I googled MALF and it says that it's associated with a MIDI device i had years ago on an old laptop, never this computer. How do i get rid of this thing?
Here's what the process is listed as:
    91
    MAFL
    root
    0.0
    2
    156.00 KB
    642.15 MB
    PowerPC

Mostly those are stored in plista in various folders...
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for action in Safe Mode...
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed. Also look in System Preferences' Other row.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...
    /private/var/run/StartupItems
    /Library/StartupItems

  • How can I stop iPad from starting the music app after ending a phone call when using Bluetooth headphones?

music app automatically starts after using Bluetooth headphones during a phone call

If you don't have iTunes you will need to buy the song from the iTunes store and download it that way. If it is a custom track you may be out of luck.  The only way to get a song on your device without iTunes involves jailbreaking it.
iOS is set up to prevent people from emailing each other songs, videos, movies, books, etc. This is how Apple got their contracts with the content providers by promising that they would do what ever it takes to prevent people from sharing content that they didn't pay for.

  • How can I stop ITunes from starting up on the Radio tab?

Hi, at my workplace web radio sites are restricted. I like to connect my phone to the computer to charge and to listen to my playlists through the computer's speakers. It also gives me the ability to control the volume and tracks with my keyboard or on my desktop without having to reach for my phone all the time.
So, when I am connected to the network and try to open ITunes it immediately crashes and I think it is because the Radio tab is activated on startup. If I disconnect from the network and open ITunes it works fine. I can then choose the Songs tab and reconnect to the network. Is there a way to disable the radio tab or have it start on another tab?
    Thanks!

Go to Start>All Programs and look in Startup. iF iTunes appears there, remove it.
If iTunes is not in startup, do you have any iTunes widgets? If you don't know what they are you probably don't have any.
Some iTunes Widgets can be configured to start when you start your computer and that could cause iTunes to appear.

  • How do I stop iTunes from starting with Windows?

    Hi there.
After installing iTunes 7, it launches with Windows despite there being no registry entries or Startup folder entries. I also can't find any preference settings in iTunes to change this. I don't want iTunes starting with Windows as it's a CPU hot and system drag as it is without it slowing down my startup.
What's even more odd I find is that, if for whatever reason iTunes does NOT start with Windows, I don't have an Internet connection. It's strange but the connection between the two is absolute. If I reboot and iTunes starts with Windows, I have my Internet back.
Any suggestions? I can't find anything through searches. I've also checked for viruses, spyware, backdoors, etc.
    Thanks.
    Custom   Windows XP

It turns out it was the Yahoo iTunes plugin.

  • How can I stop iTunes from downloading an app that I already deleted?

I tried to download some wallpaper app using the app store on my iPhone, but the download was taking too long so I deleted it. Now every time I open iTunes on my computer, it keeps trying to download. I have tried several times deleting it on my computer, but it still keeps trying to download.
I have an iPhone 3G S and it has all the latest updates, including iCloud.

What happened to Apple wanting people to be able to use an iPhone without having a computer at all?
I don't mind keeping a backup on my external hard drive, but I don't want iTunes to manage that anyway.  It always makes a mess of things.  And I definitely don't want it offloading stuff onto my main hard drive.  I just don't have the space on there for all the junk, which is why I have two external hard drives in the first place.

  • How can I stop advertisement from surflastic, media viewer that pop up when I visit any website

Whenever i visit any website numerous advertisement pop up,even at the background of web page.
It is very difficult to navigate new pages of the site as multipe tabs of hidden links appear if I click on some genuine link? I am not understanding what is the problem?

When you visit the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program, I suggest clicking the "Installed on" column heading to group items by date. This can help surface bundle items that snuck on to you computer with something you actually wanted. I would not trust any of them and suggest removing all the ones you did not choose to install.
Note: if you find SearchProtect, make sure to remove that as it will make it difficult to choose your own Firefox settings.

  • How do I stop Firefox from saving a file that I only want to open?

I have been trying to open .exe files on my computer, but instead of getting an 'open' option, I can only choose between 'save' and 'cancel'. Is there any way I can bring back my 'open' option?
(I don't think it shows up during my other downloads, either.)

No, you can't open an .exe file directly.<br />
Firefox will only offer to save such an executable file to allow your anti-virus software to scan the file and give you extra time to reconsider if you really want to run.
