How do I sync mail accounts if I didn't choose that option during setup?

Is there some way to retroactively choose to sync mail accounts with iTunes after the phone has already been setup (and I chose not to do it at setup)? I looked around in iTunes and couldn't find a setting.
I'm having problems setting up one of my IMAP accounts on the phone and think it might be easier to just sync it with Mail.app.

After plugging in your iPhone, from the iPhone summary screen, click the info tab. From there you can scroll any or all of your email accounts.

  • How do I sync mail accounts from my laptop to iPhone?

    Hi,
I just got an iPhone 4S, iOS 7. I have Macbook Pro, with OS X 10.9 (Mavericks), iTunes 11.1.1.  I have email accounts already set up on my laptop, and I'd like to copy that information to the iPhone, and keep them in sync.  I searched for info on how to do this, but much on the pages I found refer to a previous version of iTunes, which had some "sync mail accounts" section, which is no longer there.  How do I do it now?  Do I have to manually set them up again on the iPhone?  I read somewhere that you "use iCloud" but there were no details.
    thanks,
    Rob

I should have written my question better.  I didn't mean: connect to one account from multiple devices. That I understand -- IMAP, etc.  I want to sync the configuration of those accounts.  So, I set up 4 email accounts on my laptop, and then push the setup/config info to the iPhone so I don't have to type in the addresses and passwords again.  I have a lot of accounts and some of them change passwords frequenty.  It would be nice to not have to type on that iPhone screen.

  • How do I sync mail accounts onto ipad

I cannot sync my mail accounts from laptop to new ipad!!!!

Synchronization is done by your email provider. This will depend on whether or not your email provider supports synchronization.
You should define the email protocol as imap on both devices.

  • Remind me? Check or uncheck the Sync Mail accounts?

    Hi -
I have two Macs and one iPhone all being synced through MobileMe. For my email, I have about 10 accounts (I know) on my computers but only 5 enabled on my phone. Of those on my iPhone, four are IMAP and one Exchange. But there are POP accounts among the other lesser important email accounts.
So, I was syncing today and can't remember if I always want "Sync Mail Accounts" checked - or I only have that checked when I'm establishing the accounts on the various computers?
    Can someone remind me please?
    Thanks!
Oops - edited to add that I realize I should have been more clear. I have MobileMe and in the MobileMe preferences, sync iCal and Contacts and Mail Accounts are all checked. So, this is the dialogue in the actual iPhone / iTunes Sync screens.

Right, thanks - but the issue here is that in my world, I've got "Sync Mail Account" options in two places:
    1) In the iTunes hard-line sync options
    2) In MobileMe
I think that I'm supposed to only check the hard-line sync when I'm making any changes to my iPhone - that MobileMe does all the rest so I shouldn't make the duplicate commands? I take my cue on that from the fact that none of the other options - sync my iCal or Contacts - are checked because they are synced through my MobileMe account. And, in the MobileMe preferences, those are indeed checked as something that should be synced.
    Hmmm?

I've rec'd a few errors related to syncing Mail, but none have had this specific wording. If you haven't already, try quitting Mail before syncing. Also, make sure that you're not in your Settings areas on the iPhone before syncing. Hope this helps!

  • How sync mail accounts between Mac and iPhone!!

    Hi,
May a trivial and stupid question but never found an answer!
How easily sync mail account information (preferences of each mail account) between mac's (Mac Mini and Mac Book Pro) and iPhone?
Sorry to say that but it's so easy in Windows!! Just check the option box in itunes!!
For now, I use iCloud, define to sync mail and connected with same account on all my mac and iPhone ... nothing happened!
Oh yes, sorry, I have three accounts out of 13 who appear!!! But WHY?
I red somewhere that the account information (password) must be saved in keychain ... ok ... but how do I change that for all account?
I tried to remove one and recreate ... no success ... doesn't appear.
Why is it so complicated to have that working as the Mac is so user-friendly?
I also try a search on Apple site ... no explanation!
Some one with a clear and simple "How To" to share?
    MANY THANKS!
    Pierre

  • Error while syncing mail accounts

iTunes could not sync mail accounts to the iPhone "..." because an error occurred remapping record identifiers.
Try syncing your iPhone again. If the problem persists, replace the mail accounts on the iPhone from the info tab in the iPhone preferences.
The message above is an error message received several times. I have tried to work out how to replace the mail accounts through iTunes. Have been clicking it on and off and re-syncing. Still gives the error message. Can anyone help me resolve this?? tks

iTunes is running into a conflict between mail account information already on your iPhone and the accounts you are trying to sync.
Connect your iPhone to your computer. In the Advanced section under the Info tab, check the box next to "Mail Accounts". This will replace the mail account info on your iPhone with the accounts you are trying to sync.
If this does not work, then reset your sync history by opening the iSync application, going into the preferences, and clicking Reset Sync History.

  • Itunes could not sync mail accounts to the ipad beacuse the mail accounts are in use by the ipad

hi all  just syncing pc and ipad after 7.0.3 upgrade and get the message that itunes could not sync mail accounts to the ipad because mail accounts are in us eby the ipad.  i know i have seen several older threads on this,. but now cant find them.  any ideas how to get over this problem message?  many thanks

When my icloud account is attached to my device I go to mail, contacts, calendars, and there is absolutely no way to remove my mail account. When I deleted my icloud account it suddenly gave me a way to delete and readd my mail account, and synching became feasible again. Synching wasn't possible for me, when I had an icloud account. I suppose the icloud idea still isn't feasible, at least Ican't figure out how to use it.

error message after trying to sync iphone:  iTunes could not sync mail accounts to the iphone "iphone because an error occurred remapping record identifiers.  What does this mean?   how do I fix it?

You can either setup your mail account settings manually or sync your settings to your phone. If your mail accounts are already setup on your phone, there is no need to have this box checked in itunes.

  • How do I sync mail from my iphone to my ipad

How do I sync mail between my iphone and ipad?

Changing from POP3 to IMAP is a function of your email provider. You need to check with them to see if they even offer IMAP. Some do and some do not. If they do not your choices are to 1) configure email on the PC/iPad to keep Mail on the mail server or 2) change email providers to something like Gmail or Outlook.com (as examples).
This may help if you do not want to or can not switch to IMAP...

  • How do you sync mail folders from iMac(lion) to my iPad.

How do you sync mail folders from iMac(lion) to my iPad?

Is your email account an IMAP account? If not, the folders will not sync.
If your email account is a POP account, you can create folders and mailboxes in the Mac mail app and those folders will be for local storage and organization on the Mac only. That is a feature of the Mac mail software. Those folders/mailboxes will not sync if you do not have an IMAP account.

  • Can't get past Syncing mail accounts

    Hello,
As it says in the subject line, my iPhone won't get past Syncing mail accounts. If I deselect the mail account in iTunes then it syncs. I have looked this up and it seems that most people are pointing to a dialogue box that is hidden behind iTunes that needs clicking on but there isn't one with me.
I think that the reason behind the weirdness is that I have just swapped over the hard drive in my computer. I made a clone of my old one using Disk Utility then swapped it over. It synced once without a problem but since then it gets stuck on syncing the mail accounts. This is not the first time I have swapped a hard drive but it's the first time something is misbehaving because of it.
Also, my iTunes library is located on an external hard drive (this is the reason for swapping the internal drive - to get more space) and so was not located on my internal anyway. Having said that, the iPhone apps are located on the internal (there doesn't seem to be a way to change that option) and there was some weirdness with an app that wouldn't sync but I have since deleted.
Sorry for the rambling - any help or advice would be much appreciated.
    All the best.

    I think I get it.
Since my mail accounts were set up fine, there's no need to continue syncing them with iTunes, unless I change mail settings.
I haven't changed, so I should be fine unchecking "Sync selected Mail accounts".
If I do change my mail settings in the future, I can do this independently on the iPhone.
I'm still not sure why this turns into an endless sync - but I can live without re-syncing and "do it myself".
    Did I get that right?
    Thanks, Damon!

  • I am trying to set up a mail account but I get a warning that my password cannot be sent securely to the server.  how do I correct the problem?

I am trying to set up a mail account but I get a warning that my password cannot be sent securely to the server.  How do I correct this so that I can set up my email account?

    1. If you haven't tried this already, just delete the user account entirely, and then try setting it up again.
    2. To find the permissions file:
         a. hold down the option key
         b. go to the Go menu in the finder
         c. scroll down to Library and open it
         d. in Library, go to Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Preferences
         e. drag it to the trash and restart.
    3. if that doesn't work, go to Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access. In the Keychain Access menu, do Keychain First Aid, and repair.
This should keep you busy for a while.
