How do i transfer a folder of emails dragged from old mail app on old mac?

I have a folder of emails that I received whilst my old MBP was getting fixed. I have since dragged the emails i need into a folder and would like to add to my new mac? Is this possible?

Welcome to Apple's discussion groups.
What is the format of those emails and how did you create them? Exactly what do you mean by "add to my new mac"?

Connect your iPhone 4S to your Mac using the iPhone’s USB cable, and then use iTunes to transfer your contacts from to the iPhone. (An alternate way is to use iCloud.)
I’m not sure what you mean by “transferring email address” from the Mac to the iPhone. But if you mean you want to access your email from the Mac and the iPhone, the best way is to configure your email account over IMAP in Mail on both devices.

    Martin,
I would recommend starting over this time using Setup Assistant. Because you are migrating from a PPC machine I would migrate everything EXCEPT applications. You should manually install your apps, this will give you the opportunity to udate the ones that need it and I'm sure there are many. You may even apps that won't run on Intel based machines so why migrate them at all? You can use the Setup Assistant tips beginning at "Second chance...." You can either restore from your old machine or from one of it's backups. I think you'll see it's a pretty clean process, something you passed over (I'm not sure why) when  you turned on the new iMac for the first time.

  • Lost gmail folder content when transferring from old mac to new

I got a new Mac Pro recently and used Migration Assistant to transfer everything from my old mac to the new one.  Everything worked fine except in my gmail account.  None of the mailbox folders I set up transferred.  How can I get them onto the new machine?

If I activate 2-step verification now, would it somehow allow me to access the "lost" gmail folders?
No. Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data. That means you know you can restore the Mail database, no matter what happens.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Envelope Index
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return.
A Finder window will open with a file selected. Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have names that begin with "Envelope Index". Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is damaged and that Mail has to quit. Click OK.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the file you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results.

  • Automatically create iCal entry with an email alarm from a Mail.app email?

    Hi..
    Hope you can help?
I want to set up iCal/Mail.app so that it automatically creates a new iCal entry in a specific calendar when an email is received that contains a date in the body of the message...
Is there a way of doing this with Automator?
This reason I am asking is that I am trying to put a link on my online store where people can click for a gift reminder email that will be sent to them on a date they specify in the body of their email.
The link could pop-up a new email window pre-filled with Subject: 'Gift Reminder' and addressed to '[email protected]' They would be instructed to enter a single date in the text area and press Send...
Then, when Mail.app receives the email, it would move it to a Folder called 'Gift Reminders' and automatically set up a new iCal entry that has an alarm to email the sender on that date with an email containing the Subject 'The Gift Reminder you Requested' etc and some different text in the body... It would be great if this could be set up to repeat annually also as the gift reminder is primarily for birthday gifts...
Id there an Automator script / plug-in or way of making this happen??
Any help greatly appreciated, though my knowledge of scripts / Automator etc is quite limited I am willing to try out any suggestions!
    Thanks,
    Jon.

Tried a restart which showed 2183 emails unable to move which is kind of bonkers and had to quit Mail> restart and moving emails from search now appears to be working. Apple owes me about 500 hours of my life so far with Mavericks!

  • Email sent from outside Mail app sits in outbox?

Whenever I try to send an email from outside the Mail app it just sits in my Outbox until I go in and re-send what I thought I'd already sent. Very annoying, any way to fix this? I sync email with Google Sync and Yahoo.

They are in your Library folder, but it is now hidden in Lion. You can unhide it by either:
hold Option key and to to Go Menu in Finder - Library will be there. Once open you can drag its' icon into the Sidebar if you want.
Or, you can use this terminal command:
    chflags nohidden ~/Library
Once in the Library, there is the Mail folder. Please note that they are now in a folder named "V2" and the format is not compatible with Snow Leopard. You can try putting your folders there, but I do not know if that will work, especially since they are from 10.5.

  • Where are my email messages from the Mail app located in Lion?

I copied all my email messages from my PowerMac with OS X 10.5 and want to copy them to my MacBook with OS X 10.7, but I can't find the folder in Lion where email messages are stored for the Mail application. Where have they been moved to? I have been using 10.5 for a long time and am not aware of changes like this to the new OS.

  • After rebooting mac, backup from hard drive was too large and didn't happen. I continued the reboot and can safely use my mac now, but how do I transfer the backup files I need from my hard drive onto my mac/macs system?

Seems like a silly question but I had an appointment at my local apple store about a start up issue, ran some tests and passed them which was fine.
After this, I was left to reboot my mac and basically transfer files from my harddrive onto my macbook. However, I couldn't choose the files to be transferred and so I went with the reboot and the startup issue I initially had was fixed, although I need the files from my hardrive to be transfered onto my mac.
There are backups and documents I need.

I'm not sure I understand, but are you asking how to copy files from your external drive? Open two Finder windows. In one find the files you want to transfer, in the other where you want to put them. Select the file and drag it over.

Well, you sink everything on your 3GS onto your laptop/computer. Then you reset your iPhone 4. When you are restarting it, add all those apps music (ect)  On to it. It seems difucult but for more info call Apple. I did that and he lead me step by step on how to do it. Well hope this helped~~

how do you add a folder to email files

The folders on the desktop are widgets. Hit the app button in the top right hand side to take you to the app and widget drawer. Once there tap on the word Widgets at the top of the screen and scroll over to the folder widgets. Press and hold on the folder you want and it will then turn into a movable item you can drag to your desktop.

    Essentially, it led me to:
In my case I didn't want to import all of my bookmarks, just a folder.
What I did was: In Firefox: Bookmarks > Organize
Select the file folder of bookmarks I wanted to move to Safari

Select location to save the file, then SAVE
    Open Safari,

Copy the iTunes folder (Mac: Home\Music or PC: My Music) to the same location on the new computer. If an iTunes folder already exists on the new computer (it will on a Mac) replace it with one you copied.
